They're not going to because bad teams need the help

Which means we can't do anything about it. There's no promotion/relegation system in the pipeline. Draft lottery doesn't sound like the magic bullet.
I hate the idea of a lottery. There is actually a narrative to 'worst team gets the best pick' that is part of the story of a season. When the best pick doesn't turn out to be the best player, that's part of the story too. Lottery just makes it random and meaningless.

There's surely plenty of ways to undermine the incentive to tank. There's the idea that someone already mentioned of basing the draft on your last two years. Or basing it on results from Round 11 one season to Round 11 the next.

Really? I think he was just making the point nobody was there to watch the exhibition game... He wasn't one of the players on the field anyway.

A little bit of bad PR, he said they wouldn't do it again.
That's exactly what he was doing.

Bec made some comment about next time he could watch a bit of the game from the stands and Tex says "With everyone else who's paid for a ticket" insinuating no one.

At least it's clarified that it wasn't a mix up with times, there was no confusion about whether the players had permission to be there or not, it was purely a respect thing. Oh well, I doubt we'll do it again for any curtain raiser.

Do you actually give a shit though? It's an exhibition game, they are the top dog and playing in the game people are there for. Sure, don't go out there and start taking shots at goal and a having kick to kick in the middle of the ground... but they were 5m inside the boundary when play was on the other side of the ground. It's not like the ball was moving at a rate of knots either.

No one was there for the women's game besides maybe family members, he's not exactly wrong.

I care because it makes our players look like they disrespect women's football. Would feel the same if they swanned about on the field during an amateur league game, junior game, whatever. It's just basic courtesy.

I absolutely HATE that our players are so precious that they can't cope without the most minor change to their routine. No wonder we're so pathetic in finals. The anthem would completely throw us out.

What the!!!

Dermie and King A graders......boring as batshit if you ask me....

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...out&utm_term=175210&subid=9668649&CMP=ema_632
Dermie can be properly insightful about the game, the problem is he makes the commute to the ground in question from his home on Mars, and it can be a struggle to decode exactly what topic he's even exploring on a given tangent.

King loves his stats, but I think he only grasps them at a basic level. He looks like a genius though because he has access to all the secret Champion Data metrics that the regular punter can only get their hands on through the drip feeding of content through media outlets like Fox.

Good thing Ricciuto wasn't reviewed, he'd probably rank a D minus. Love the bloke, but his scope of knowledge concerning the modern game is extremely narrow; his solution is to do his best to appear biased against the Crows but the facade is a bit thin when he has so little to share about the opposition.

If you're looking for someone who doesn't give a flying **** what they did, I'm your guy. (although guy is now hate speech)

Heaven forbid anyone see no one rates their little scratch match. Give me a break, it's news because they're women perennially oppressed and all umbrage must be taken due to the 'fact'.
To believe they aren't getting gifted a professional league out of special treatment instead of natural progression of elite competition and quality of product is living in fantasy land. This isn't equality it's equity over something that isn't a basic need.

Who cares if some elite level players that make the game want to warm up near by, it's effects on their "tight affair" were none.

I keep reading the Port Power posters ratting on about how our aging membership demographic is over a certain figure.

I guess since they confidentially post this information, they must have data and can post these age segments? junior memberships (kids), 15 to 29, 29 to 42, 42 to 60 and then 60 plus.

I was wondering if anyone can post the membership age breakdown?

Can't remember where I got this from, but judging from the member numbers must be from Adelaide Oval era:
Adl Port
11 gm 43668 33000
3 gm 10000 10000
other 8332 17000
female 38.5% 35.2%
0y-9y 8% 10.8%
10-19 9.2% 12.2%
20-29 11.3% 11.7%
30-39 12.2% 12.5%
40-49 14.7% 14.9%
50-59 16.4% 16.3%
60y+ 26.2% 18.3%
unknw 2% 3.3%

Sorry about the formatting, got it as good as I could.

We have a higher older % because no doubt 2 thirds of our season ticket list have been a member of the club for well over 20 years. Port lost a bucket load of senior members during the Mark Williams years because they hated him and the arrogance he portrayed at the club. Combined with the lean years, Port needed to rebuild. Give them another 20 years our demographics will be identical.
