Perhaps Eli wanted more opportunity elsewhere so instead of offering a contract, the club delisted him to get him to where he wanted to be?
with the amount of late pick swapping i don't believe this. if it is its a poor way to do it. how clubs can't just swap 4th rounders or something crappy does my head in

Is it Sam Fisher vs Sam Fisher?
Eli would of found it tough this year, with improvement from the players on our list and the new players we have picked up.
- Gresham,Acres,Freeman,Billings,Rice ,McKenzie
- Steele,Stevens
Hopefully Trout will surprise us with some young trade gems

6 off the main list 2 off the rookie list
3 on the main list + holmes
+ 1 on rookie list
= 2 free on main list + 1 free on rookie list?
Trout said the other day on the Road to the Draft podcast we will be taking 3 picks into the draft.

It's rookie or nothing for Fisher
If you include the two Kiwis Baker-Thomas and Barclay Miller as Category B rookies, as Trout appeared to, and if no-one pick's McCarthy in the draft he's another Category B (indigenous).

5 potential Category B's means 2 would have to go on the regular rookie list (one Irish and one Kiwi).

If McCarthy slides we're obligated to pick him, leaving Fisher or 61. But that decision comes first.

Guess we could draft 61 and then only delist Fisher if McCarthy slides

.... or if a DFA or rookie appeals more and McCarthy's gone.

Love the no. 9, always reminds me of John McIntosh.
You must be on the ancient side like me....McIntosh would have been an all time great of the Saints AND the AFL/VFL. IIRC was runner up in Brownlow. 6'4" amazing agility, only player I have ever seen could kick drop kicks with his other (left) foot. Unbelievable player whose career was cut short by a knee injury...comparison maybe less robust version of Koutifides or maybe even more skilful version of Nick Riewoldt...YES he was that good

Sad day for all those guys delisted. It's probably the end of the dream for most and the start of building a life after full time footy. Some good guys in that lot too. Good luck to all of them. All are talented and should be great at the lower levels. Would love to keep a couple for Sandringham.

Was surprised Templeton got delisted . But given our glut of smallish forwards it's probably no surprise . Hopefully someone else gives him an opportunity l think he could still make it, he still has upside l think .
Five years ago he may have carved out a career. but with the club eyeing off top end talents, guys like him will fall out of the system unless they produce some magic.

Despite his shortcomings, Wright like Geary brings a different quality to the table. they are guys you'd go to war with. It's why he got games ahead of Eli. as others have mentioned, Eli has been overtaken by he likes of Gresham and Co.
