For who? Mullett?

We've basically said that we aren't looking to trade anyone out. Our list management is incredibly uncreative

Oh yeah I forgot cam Joyce is running the show - a rebuild spread out with 1 Pick in the top 20 every year for the next 3 years it is

I'm probably a bit frustrated by the whole process, the "agressive" part of the "re-set" was based on getting Kelly and/or Martin because we couldn't get it done we are happy to just sit back and take a few okay picks to the draft.

Beating Brisbane in the last round has hurt us more than we care to realise.

Well then I guess we should just give up then?

It's about being proactive and having the foresight to make the right decisions. It's also about being inventive and thinking outside the box.

A great example is Todd Goldstein a couple years ago whilst his value was high, we also have a stockpile of slow inside mids with some value.

North are serial offenders at holding onto players for too long and then wanting to offload them once their value has dropped.
I'm not saying give up, just that we need to be realistic. I appreciate your point about cashing in on a players maximum value, however Goldstein was AA 2 years ago and we were in a reasonable position to challenge for a flag. You would have been strung up for suggesting that we trade Goldstein then with no Preuss on the horizon. Obviously the situation had changed with Goldies form dropping off a cliff with his personal problems. It's very easy to suggest a trade at his peak value in hindsight. That does nothing to help advance or cause in the here and now. What you are alluding to us trading a player at his peak value which means great recent form, age 23-26. So who is in your sights? Cunnington? Tarrant?

I'd say pretty much everyone bar Cunnington, Brown, Simpkin could be used.
I doubt anyone would give us a draft pick in the teens for anyone else. Zeibell maybe or Tarrant? Plus the player has to want to move. Hey Jack, we're really keen on pick 19 and we were wondering whether you might fancy moving up to the Gold Coast? I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that one.... Can you imagine the effect on the playing group or how the media will spin that one?

For argument sake, Higgins could get a pick in the top 20s for the right buyer. My point is, it's not impossible and something the club needs to consider to grow.

Yep you're right, he would I reckon. Had forgotten about him. Problem is, whoever you get at 19 could just as likely turn out to be nowhere as good as Higgins. And it will be 5 years before that question is answered.

Garner, McDonald, Tarrant, MacMillan, Ziebell would also be untradable for different reasons. I wouldn’t trade Ahern, Durdin, McKay either. The only player we have of value that we could afford to trade would be Preuss.

I'd put Garner in the table and see what offers pop up.

I'd happily trade Preuss for a 2nd rounder, particularly 2018. He's potentially the most likely to want a move as he's from interstate and getting limited game time.

l wouldn’t be interested in trading anyone out for a second round pick.

We need more Garners. He’s got as much potential as anyone on our list.

Why would we have given up Goldstein when he was one of our best players? And didn't want to leave? Which club does that for unpredictable draft picks.

Do you reckon you'd get a first rounder for Preuss?

He’s worth a late first.

If I was a Queensland club with retention issues and a fan base that enjoys the physical aspects of the game (due to a rugby culture) then I’d definitely throw a fist round pick at Preuss. They’d love him.

Yeah. Great shout.... he'd be great up there. The trade value of ruckmen is plummeting though. Doubt you'll see any ruckmen traded for a first rounder this year.

St kilda did it a couple year ago with Big Boy - the club should have recognised the inevitable fall away that was coming and prepared for that. Instead they just tried to delay the inevitable.

'Aints still have picks 7 & 8. We are now 4 & 23. Their picks would not change you would think. Our 23 could sllde our further.
Jesus Adelaide who just nearly won the the flag after a reasonably dominant season have 10 & 16

Tempting..............very tempting. Should we dangle this carrot ? Sure is being discussed.
If they are so desperate for one of the currently discussed top 4 boys to complete their rise to the top.........?
