Do you think the club will mark the order 1 to 8 on best available or do you think they'll actually eye a certain type?

I think they'll mark their selections, but they'll be biased towards the type of player they prefer.
For example if Naughton was still there at pick 34 ( he won't be ) they'd be nuts not to take him.

Do they still do the slow ‘oh when the saints’ build up before home games?

Still not as bad as that country music shit by some taylor swift wannabee they played last year as well. I recall they played it right before the start of a game, we got smashed, then the Saints social media got lit up about playing such a shitty mellow song. It was never played immediately before a match again. Whoever green lighted it to begin with should have been fired.

So i posted the thing about Kavanaugh and Sumner as a bit of a joke.
But seriously, what went wrong with them?
Of the players we are discussing , which ones are more likely to be compete write offs if things don't go well? Why?
The ones that can't win their own ball. Just off the top of my head some recent top 10 busts in Aish, Mayes, Salem, JOR all no good at winning their own ball. Everyone wants the home run pick with a top 10 so they go with class and assume they'll develop the contested side. Begging for a write off.

Que the Noah Balta melts..

If that's true then we'd probably need to think , that from the guys we are discussing
Coffield, and O'Brian would be the most concern.

There were similar concerns wrt Josh Kelly winning his own footy. I do agree though, as Terry Wallace regularly says, juniors that win their own footy are ‘bullet proof’ selections. Lochie O’Brien I reckon is this years outside player bust.

There's a flip side to that...

Shows single minded focus and desire to make it and succeed.

Also my cuz left home at 16 for the AIS to pursue his dream.

Captained Aus U19 Socceroos as well as a Swiss national team.

Unfortunately a Japanese player landed on his knee in the Junior World Cup.

That's funny, my cousin was a decent state level junior soccer player, did his knee twice and never got to the next level but his folks made sure they kept him in school and now he works for the UN. He looked all set to be a pro sportsman and if he'd dropped out he would have been ****ed and still working at coles or something.

I had a guy at my high school who was an unbelievable skateboarder and had a bad leg break that meant he never got to earn the big bucks. He was getting sponsorships and money as a teenager and looked set to go overseas and make massive money. It can **** up pretty quickly, last I heard he was still doing shit kicking work in his 40s.

Higgins 178. Thats 5ft 10in in the old language. I myself am 2 inches short of 6 ft so I think Higgins is a great height. Same height as Lethal Leigh, Darrel Baldock was not much taller. Many champions were much smaller, as my pick for the best I ever saw, Skilts.

Yeah a lot of schoolyard hero's spend the rest of their life looking back, while singing Bruce Springstein's "Glory Days".

My cuz is pumping coffees in Bondi.

It comes down to the individual. Ljubo was very talented therefore pursued the AIS. His dream was to be picked up by a large Euro club, but injury set him back.

As a dad, you'd want them to complete year 12 at a minimum.

But then again, not everyone is good at school.

They can always go back later or pick up a trade if so inclined.

If a kid has no talent but quits school to pursue a sports career then there's a problem.
