ummm
he listed him in his top 10 potential A graders ( along with Billings and Bont ). You should worship him.

#16 Geelong – Blake Acres (WA – Mid/Util)Height: 188cm, Weight: 84kg, DOB: 07/10/1995
Recruited from: West Perth
Style: David Mundy
Player comparison:
Range: 7-30
Profile: Acres is tall, high production, classy user of the footy with extra time and space than the next guy with that evasive sidestep of his as well as versatility with his ability to play through the midfield or on a forward or back flank. He has the ability to win his own footy inside the contest, tackle strongly and take a strong mark overhead. At the next level despite his versatility I see him as someone who will become a midfielder going by what he showed through the midfield this year even while carrying a shoulder injury. Acres is all class and is not only excellent by foot on both sides hitting his targets consistently but he also has more time and space than the next guy and combine that with his sidestep and he’s hard to catch. He’s got a complete game as someone who is very capable of winning his own ball inside the contest but then can also find the footy outside. He can hit the scoreboard as a midfielder. He can push forward and take a mark or play on a back flank and be an effective rebounder. He’s also an effective tackler. Acres is one of the rare few taller types with a relatively immediate game as well as a complete game. Add that to his strong sporting pedigree with his parents both strong athletes and his continued rapid improvement and the combination of ability to win his own footy and skill level at his size and he’ll be one of the best players to come out of this draft and one of the few I feel has the ability to develop into a star talent from this draft. Many will sleep on Acres because we haven’t seen the best of him this year but I’m exceedingly confident he’ll deliver the goods and deliver it quicker than many predict.
A year or 2 years ago he came on here said he had downgraded his view on Acres and he would be lucky to make it.

I really appreciate KM's work but he has never suffered from a lack of confidence.

And I worship one man he's got long hair, works as a carpenter, has a lot of crazy ideas about love and brotherhood. His name's Gunnar and he's dating my mom. Sometimes he buys us beer.;)

Wow - big call especially if these are the highlights you are talking about. Looks like an AFL player to me.

Here is Chris25's write-up of JS from the BF Official Mock:

Pick 2 Fremantle - Jaidyn Stephenson (189cm, 75kg midfielder/forward from Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro)

I first saw Stephenson as a 16 year old playing for Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup back in 2015, and it was immediately evident he was special. Two years out from the draft, and he was their best player in the Grand Final with 3 goals. And he finished off his 2016 with as good a month as you'll see, with 13 goals coming from his last four matches. It was over a year ago that I had him earmarked as the #1 player in this draft. And as far as I'm concerned, he's only gotten better.

Up until this year, Stephenson played almost exclusively as a forward. Often as the deepest forward. And it's hard to argue with the success he had, averaging over two goals a game. He was, and I think will remain to be, an impossible match up. Outside of Alex Rance, there won't be many who could go with him in the air, on the lead and on the ground. I saw the AFL website compared Stephenson to Jeremy Cameron, and it's not bad actually. He doesn't have the size obviously and he won't be a key forward, but he has a similar body type with long arms that just grab the ball. And he's always active. He's a near elite contested mark for his size, but just as adept when the ball is on the ground. In the TAC Cup, Stephenson would often play behind his man using his leap and wing span to beat them to the ball. Obviously plucking the ball from a contest wont always work at AFL level, but it just shows that he's never out of a contest.

Defensively, his chasing pressure is as good as anyone. He ran a sub 3 second 20m sprint, and he's one of those players who actually plays at that speed too. It's not just straight line on an athletic track speed. Whether he has the ball in hand or chasing down an opponent, his running is almost fanatical. Could be forgiven for mistaking him with Jayden Hunt.

If you were to look at the stats alone, you'd think Stephenson had a down year going from 23 goals to only 14 goals in 15 matches. But what he's done, is transform himself from third tall forward to genuine midfielder. He did start a little slowly as he made the move up the ground, but that changed at the U18 Championships against South Australia when he finished with 28 disposals and 5 goals. It was easily the best individual performance of the Championships, and it propelled him forward from there. And like in 2016, his last 6 weeks in the TAC Cup were excellent - one 39 disposal game, and he finished the season with almost half of the his disposals being contested. One thing I've always rated highly, is when a skinny player can win the contested ball. If you're 10kg heavier than everyone, it's easy to crash and bash your way through. But when you're only 75kg, it shows a natural ability and football smarts. Fremantle fans will remember that with Nathan Fyfe and Stephen Hill, could see the potential early and for it to be filled once they put on muscle.

So I think I've now said Stephenson is a mixture of Jeremy Cameron, Jayden Hunt, Nathan Fyfe and Stephen Hill. That would make him quite a player. But why isn't he the clear #1 prospect of all time then? Well coming into the year, there were three main knocks on him - midfield ability, consistency and kicking. He well and truly answered the first two, and for me he finished the year as the best performing midfielder in the draft. And I suppose there is always a question about whether the skinny kids can bulk up enough, but most seem to do it well.

His kicking though is still a work in progress. Interestingly, put a set of goals in front of him and there isn't a problem. I've also found that when he kicks through the ball, again there isn't much of a problem there. But it's on the short and medium kicks that he can lack a bit of touch and doesn't always judge the distance quite right. And also when he's flat footed, on the run isn't too bad. I do think it's improved over the past couple of years, and with some tightening of his technique it should improve even further.

Ultimately, I think this draft has some really good talent in the top 10. But few game winners. And that's exactly what Jaidyn Stephenson is, up forward or through the midfield. He's also a big game player. Whether it was the TAC Cup GF back in 2015, or being best afield in the U18 All Stars game. Check out giantroo's highlight video of that game here, I think it's a good summary of everything I've said.

But what will Fremantle actually do here?
I expect they'll pick whoever Brisbane doesn't choose out of Luke Davies-Uniacke and Paddy Dow. It should be pretty simple. Outside chance of Adam Cerra, depends if they think he'll slip through to #5.

So why didn't I do that?
Well, I rate Stephenson as the #1 prospect in the draft. So that alone should explain it.

KM tends to rate players until they are drafted by St Kilda. Has a decent track record of bagging the Saints and talking up the Filth.

Normally has a very average phantom/views until the weeks before the draft and then tries to claim he is a draft god when its correct.

I also can't stand his linking to his pages just to get clicks and obviously cash in the process. Who calls their thread an almanac? Am I missing something here? I probably wouldn't mind him if he didn't post so much anti Saints stuff in the past but he just straight out hates us.

There's my winge for the day.

Hamish and Angus are older - so its actually third youngest. A theory that works for Joel Selwood too. ;)

He’s actually the youngest of 4 boys. William is the eldest. He’s in the Army. Years ago I was in their house and it was pretty rough and tumble between those boys! I reckon he learnt a few things trying to keep up.

The way this keeps going there is gonna be another 12 brothers by the end of the day.

I'm waiting for somebody to say " I was working on a shrimp trawler and the oldest brother called Bubba was driving the boat "

There is really just one Brayshaw. Its just one boy moving very fast backwards and forwards, its an optical illusion.

I've always wanted to do a piss-take on Knightmare's mock draft and posting style. But with the amount of people who think he is a legit guru, I'd come across as even more of a d!ck.

The cat was saying we should draft a ruckman last year because Longer was likely to be delisted this year. Not even traded to a club for a 5th rounder or rookied, but delisted. He always saw Billy as a frontward leaning Tarkyn Lockyer with a Sean Charles handball, never gave him a chance!

First of all I will say that knightmare does take a lot of time to respond to questions & that is to be saluted. However the context of the responses are not proper!

Knightmare has done well for himself to transition from playing board games at the local mall (username + avi = wtf) to writing for ESPN & bluffed his way to bigfooty stardom.

With more draft coverage & GOAT bishop & the ever-reliable chris25 contributing immensely to BF the Mare is being found out like a bout of clamidia!

TBH Knightmare lost me when he came on our board about 2 years ago comparing GOAT Acres to an outside leaning Tyson Goldsack FFS. Why TF must every player be compared to a Pies grub?

Of who would be available (Cerra but likely gone. I rate him Top 3).

Bonar, Higgins, Brayshaw, Fogarty, Stephenson, Coffield just too name a few. Even Constable is better than Clark.

Interested on your thoughts as to why you are so averse to the saints picking Clark.

Who do you like out of curiosity?

To me , I just like the way he documents his player profiles, and states the negatives along with the positives.
I find him "reasonably accurate but often wrong - for example , see the review about Acres above, it had him listed as ready to make an immediate impact "
For what its worth , the professional recruiters are also reasonably accurate but often wrong. They draft guys in the first round that are bloody useless.
Knigtmare has pretty much documented what the prevailing thoughts are regarding players at the time.

I don't read his general threads and questions and answers.

At one time i went back and looked at previous drafts with a view of working out which of the regular "phantom drafters" was best over a few years.
I think Chris25 and Quigley were right up there, Knightmare was somewhere in the middle.

Prefer the analysis we get on here from ARR and Barrels TBH.

All these other guys remind me of punters trying to predict who'll win the Melbourne Cup.

Happy to just learn about each player without the "I told you so" rubbish.

Apart from maybe guessing which order players will be taken, everything else is speculation. No one can predict how a player will turn out.

That said, this thread needs more Rahul. I miss the gentleman...

That piece of play seemed to stamp his papers as far as fans went, but Sam Fisher was watching what was coming and never told him he was hot. It probably shook his confidence longer term too.

Chips also dragged Rooke right into Raph’s space as he ran past.

A dumb play by Chips that saw Raph thrown under the bus by all and sundry.

My draft board in preference of who we should select;

1. Rayner
2. Davies-Uniacke
3. Cerra
4. Dow
5. Fogarty
6. Stephenson
7. Higgins
8. Coffield
9. Brayshaw
10. Clark

If we can somehow get 3 of these with our first three picks we will have done extremely well. There's a chance that one may slide quite significantly as every year. From memory we had Gresham at #12 on our draft board in 2015 and got him at #18. Hopefully a Bonar or Garner slide to the mid 30's.

Esketit

No way were passing up brayshaw if he's there

Pretty sure unless its a kpp we'll be happy with who we get... endless possibilities.

That being said I'm looking forward to armchair critics pulling apart the decisions of blokes who have watched these kids for years
