If we are interested in hynes I reckon that would suggest we might be trading back with gws. I spoke to his dad on Friday night. Said just about every team has been interviewing him. Can’t pin point who is more interested
Yeah I get the feeling he may go a little earlier than expected.

Ah yes, the culture building win
Every time that win gets mentioned it brings a smile to my face.
Carlton supporters almost in tears in the stand above the cheers squad. The threats they forgot to dole out before running out of the stadium. Watching them wait for the Freo game to start, finally realising that they're just making up the numbers even if they made finals.
Quiet blues supporters. Imagine it.

Would take that win again every day.

Carlton lost a game on purpose for Kruezer.
Don't be like Carlton.

Imagine being so starved of premierships or success at any level that the joy you get out of supporting your club is watching successful club supporters disappointed that they may not play finals only to play finals anyway.

Each to their own.

Noah Mraz would be handy for KP depth. He was one of the potential FRDP coming into the season and was injured all year. Simms with a late pick as a ruck forward too. Both expected to go late.

I’ve seen Sims picked in the 30s in a number of mocks.

He looks like he can ruck as well. Good mark. Great hands. Brave in the air. Looks a bit a slow in moving the ball on but that can be rectified.

Do you think he could be a good option for us at pick 32? Fills a dual need for another tall forward and a second ruckman.

Ah yes, the culture building win

Win the game.

Get picks 7+8. Draft Reid/Smillie/Langford/Allen

Lose the game.

Get picks 5+6. Draft Reid/Smillie/Langford/Allen

We will never know who the club actually rated higher.

As for being 'left' with players, rather than having options; I'd like to thank the teams that 'left' us with Pou, Wilson & Nas in recent years...

We have all said our midfield does not kick goals...Reid does, so he is my preferred pick.

Picking Carrol means we do not need to take three mids in the draft.

In the draft inself, we probably need to get two mids in the first round. So if North take Tarau at 2 or 4 or 6 then we take whoever is left most likely Landford or Smillie, and then Reid at 8.

If all the mids go, before pick 7 we are left with the choice of Tarau or Reid.

Take Reid split 8 and 32 with GWS and get best mid available (Hotton Lindsay) and Trainor.

Or split with 7 and 32 with Tigers 10 and 20 allowing them to take Tarau and we take Reid and Bo Allen and best project tall Ruck/Fwd at 20. Or Hynes at 20 and a tall at 10.

Our mandatory must is I reckon 3 mids from the draft, Carrol is one and we need two of Reid Allen Smillie Langford. Anything else is a bonus.

As we will also most likely take Cole Hoffman and Peckett, which adds 2 different backs and a player who kicked 5 goals in a game of football which is a POD from anyone else we will have drafted.

Be an interesting team at Sandy next year with young talent and some GOP looking for a run in the firsts.

It was a Melbourne poster talking about what they might do.

I reckon he seriously underrated. His numbers stack up with the best of the top midfielders at under 18s level.

Whoever gets him will have a steal.

Any way to bluff Melbourne to take Armstrong?

Surely they're keen on a decent tall, and can still take mid at Pick 9.

If NM are taking Tauru.
If Richmond are keen on Smillie.
If Melbourne could take Armstrong.
Slide city for the Saints.

Bo Allan and one of Draper/Smith would be.... significantly pleasing

Tell them we will draft Armstrong at 8 or trade 8 with tigers for picks 10/11.

I can’t see a world in which the club is worse off for losing a dead rubber home and away game.
When the boys hit the track for preseason I’ll be very surprised if a win at the death against the blues vfl side will be at the front of their mind.
I tell you what builds character, winning games when the season is alive.
It's just such a weird thing to still be complaining about. We have good picks anyway. Deliberately losing a game to go up a couple of picks in what seems an even draft would be very odd behaviour. And yes there's every chance the win fuels belief.

Each to their own I guess.

A few of us here really like him. Feel like he’s been overshadowed by Langford. If he can build up his tank he could be an Isaac Heeney type who can step up when the game is on the line. With Membrey gone there’s a spot for him as a pseudo tall

I really like his power and speed. A unique player to the more classy players we have ala Henry & Wilson

If we get picks 15&16, he’d be in the frame I’d imagine

I’m not complaining, it is what it is now. I just don’t buy the narrative those games build culture.
Truthfully, given the side that Carlton fielded we should have beaten them convincingly

St Kilda Insider on Insta put up a clip of Windy. I forgot how good he can look at times. He might still make it to a high level too.

Successful? They haven't been close this century. Get your hand off it.

How likely is it that all the the supposed big 6 mids are taken before us? Is this a disaster or are we happily taking Tauru and Reid?

Abso- ****ing -lutely!

One game you are right, but 6 out of 8 beating Sydney, Geelong and Carlton, it is momentum that can be carried on into preseason.
It was only 8 weeks ago and the youngen's are back tomorrow.
gringo2011 I'll try to get some shots of the kids including Windy tomorrow.

Agree he (Hynes) is a bit of the Dane Swan of this draft, had to work on his fitness to get an opportunity, but still has plenty of room for improvement.
