I agree that Jones would be reasonable trade bait as a 28 yo KPD, when we have an embarrassment of riches in that part of the field. Teams always willing to pay overs for talls. He'd suit Collingwood very well but their supporters would probably lynch the man who recruits Liam Jones

Why? We didn't upgrade pick 73 only to not use it.

Will probably be pick 65 by the time everything is done and dusted.

we have upgraded many picks that were not used

We would be better off keeping Boekhorst than using our 4th pick

To bring in Kennedy, Lang, Lobbe and 4 picks we need 7 senior spots.
Gibbs, Armfield, Gorringe, Sumner, and Jaksch all gone so only need to move two more. Pay out Palmer so he can play in the WAFL then book a hard rubbish collection for Dylan's couch...

Nice breakdown. Looks pretty accurate.

And you're right, still lacking in midfielders currently. We really shouldn't have more defenders than mids on our list.
Not so worried about pure forwards, i'd like to see us recruit a bunch of mids who can rotate and rest forward.

Outside Midfielders:

Marc Murphy - average kick
Sam Petrevski-Seton - good kick
Sam Kerridge - butcher
Blaine Boekhorst -butcher
Zac Fisher - can butcher it a bit
Cameron Polson- good kick as jnr
Darcy Lang - decent kick

Our supply to the forwards is poor. I expect Cunningham to spend more time in the guts this year.

I look at that list B&S, and its easy to see we have more versatility than what we had 18 months ago. That in itself is a major positive. Midfielders remain the priority, absolutely.

Kennedy along with two young guns at 3 and 10 in the draft will hopefully be something that goes a fair way in rectifying that issue. Plus I feel we are gonna target some quality mids in the next two off-seasons as the cherry on top to the young mid group we are building. More leg speed and silk would be ideal. Kelly would have been a perfect fit. Think we need another classy half-forward and small forward before we need another KPF. Our usage inside 50 when we become stagnant around half-forward, forcing us to kick long or turnover due to poor usage, has been one of the most frustrating things over the past 12-18 months. Improved mids will help for sure, but half-forwards with flair and footy nous are as important to help fix that.

we have upgraded many picks that were not used

We would be better off keeping Boekhorst than using our 4th pick
Not that many, and we've got 4 uncontracted not including Palmer, so there's more names to go before we get to Boekhorst.

Hickmont?
You tell me! Put up some nice numbers after being shifted into the midfield, but I've only seen some lacklustre glimpses of his footy. I think we'd be looking elsewhere.

Regardless, compared to giving one less of White, Graham or Palmer another year, seeing what's at the bottom of the pool seems worth it to me. Dream pick would be a fit and ready Liam Ryan or Patmore.

So, by my reckoning if we use picks 3,10 and 30 (i dont think we'll use 73) then 2 of the below are gonesky:
Buckley
Graham
Boekhorst
White

I choose Buckley as one definite, then one of Graham\White.

Everyone on the list had better come back in ripping shape and have a reasonable year because we have a plethora of picks in a super draft in 2018 and we'll be taking as many if not more picks than we did last year. I can easily see 8-10 off the list this time next year.....

That will round out the rebuild along with FA's in 2018 and 2019!!
Palmer and one of Buckley , Graham, Boekhorst and White.

My best 22 on the basis that everyone is awesome and it's s perfect world in 2018 ( WW3 hasn't started for example):

B: Byrne, Jones, Plowman
HB: Marchbank, Weitering, Docherty
C: Lang, Cripps, C. Curnow
HF: Murphy, Casboult, SPS
F: Pickett, McKay, Silvagni

R: Kruezer, E. Curnow, Kennedy

Int: Pick 3, Fisher, Williamson, Cunningham

Rucks of Kreuzer and Casboult with backups in Phillips and Lobbe. I think we have sufficient depth to go another year without taking a young ruckman.

This allows us to focus on bringing in midfielders with Picks 3, 10 and 30. I think we will use the Pick 73 too.

There is currently 2 spots on the list. This is because of Armfield and Gorringe retiring, Jaksch and Sumner delisted, Gibbs traded out, and Kennedy, Lang and Lobbe traded in.

We will need to delist another 2 players to have 4 picks in the National Draft. I expect Palmer will be the first, and one of Buckley, Graham, White and Boekhorst the second.

Next year we will just about complete the clean out of the list. There will be a few retiring ... Simpson, Thomas, Rowe.

We will delist the balance of Buckley, Graham, White and Boekhorst, as well as Smedts and Kerridge.
