Trade week always is full of sliding door like moments.

The what if player x went to club b instead of a? sort of situations.

Personally I think our first section of trade week will be focused on a Gibbs deal (which will of course be logjammed behind a Jake Lever deal)

That doesn't need to happen, but I think we will want to know what we might have to play with before we finalise anything else.

I think we offer Tom Rockliff some Godfather money for the first two years in a long contract to get Brissie the compo that they want.

Then we target:

D.Smith
M.Kennedy
H.Balic

in that order while simultaneously being open to all possibilities that come up.

Finally we try and secure a second pick inside the top 30 if we can manage it.

A proven goal-kicking key forward with another 6-7 years left in the game isn't worth pick 3 to us ??

Sorry, but I cannot agree with that at all.
Cameron can go missing for large periods and is largely infectual if not kicking goals. I'm not doubting his talent or worth, but he'll have Kerridge kicking it to him instead of Kelly.

Looking beyond surface value I'm not convinced it's the most ideal move. Far from terrible but not worth our highest commodity.

That's the point, CHB is their Achilles heel at present, they have a brilliant midfield and a ripper forward-line even if it was to only revolve around Lobb & Patton. With Mumford back in the team, Lobb could go back forward. Also, if they win again this weekend and go on to win the flag without Cameron, they may see him as tradeable even though we all acknowledge that he is a really terrific player.

Jones would be a perfect addition to their playing list and is ready to "go" now, he is going to have to wait 3-4 years to see that sort of action with us and he probably hasn't got much more than that left in the game.

It didn't seem to hurt the Hawks after Franklin left either.

Now you're talking!!

So all other teams are trying to help us win the flag by letting us have all players available with any talent? Lol nice of them

Doubt we will get 10 and 17 for Gibbs. Doubt GWS are going to give away Kennedy and Smith. Doubt Brisbane will give Schache away for little if we get them tier 1 for Rockliff. It's just not realistic.

We get Rockliff and Brisbane get #2 as compo.
We give up #3 (now 4) for Schache and #12 (now #13). Lions now have #1, #2 and #4. Exciting times for them.

We try to stick to our guns for #10 (now #11) from Crows after they trade Lever.

We trade #13 for Kennedy and Smith.

So we gain Rockliff, Schache, Kennedy, Smith, #11 and lose #3 and Gibbs.

Crows get Gibbs and 38 for 10 and 17. In essence they trade Lever for Gibbs + pick 38 if trade talk around Lever is to be believed.

Kennedy and Smith aren't worth more than pick 18 and 24.

Brisbane essentially get:

Schache, pick 15 > pick 2, pick 22
Rockliff, pick 18 > pick 8, 2018 pick 19-23 (deeper draft supposedly)

For Rockliff to get Band 1 compo (pick 2) he would have to be in the top 15 paid players 25 and over in the league. Only 14 players would be able to be paid more than him. Buddy, Tippett, Dusty, Ablett, NicNat, Fyfe..........

We would have to offer him at least $900K (probably more) for at least 4 years, no way I want us to do that and knock our pick 3 down to 4. This isn't a 25 yo Dangerfield we are talking about, it's a 27 yo Rockliff who they actively shopped around 12 months ago.

Sure, offer some good coin, but they aren't the only team to lose a free agent (Betts and Waite for nil compo) and we shouldn't even consider a trade if they try and trade for him. What if we get pick 17 for Gibbs? Are they going to haggle for pick 17 instead of taking the freebie pick 18 (they know we ain't giving up pick 3).

OK - no way we are going to trade our first pick. Gibbs is staying. Only activity will be free agents ie. Rokliff. Maybe trades with late picks and cap relief (is. GC player.

PS duty free JB is good after return from Europe is nice. You all worry too much. Looking at last 2 years, I fully trust SOS to do the best list management possible. Patience my friends, patience.

My sources have good mail that we are getting Rocky as a FA, we will get the lions the compo they want (large front ended contract) and in exchange they allow us the player we want to slide to us in the draft (inside mid).

Gibbs will be granted his wish to leave but only if we are compensated accordingly.

What do people think of this? I think it's pretty fair and would probably do the deal.

I think the basis of a deal looks good between the three clubs, with maybe some lower end pick swaps to sweeten the deal.

Adelaide - LOSE: Lever, pick 17 | GAIN: Gibbs, pick 10
Melbourne - LOSE: picks 10 & 27 | GAIN: Lever
Carlton - LOSE: Gibbs | GAIN: picks 17 & 27

We could then probably trade 17 and 27 for Kennedy & Devon Smith.
So essentially Gibbs for Kennedy and Devon Smith.

Still not convinced that Smith is a player we "need" at the club especially as he wants to play in the midfield even though he has hardly played there thus far.

Another blue chip mid would still be needed even if we did land all of that lot.

Don't see him as a having huge time through the midfield with what we will have but we will have a great group the can play mid & fwd and kick goals. Looks very dangerous.

Agree about blue chip. A few big fish in 18/19. I also expect Cripps SPS & Charlie to be elite mids

All our problems won't be solved this year but it's another massive step forward
