Looks good when it comes off but if it doesn’t 90% of the time then it’s a liability. Also, not great for my blood pressure when I lose my shit and turn to the drink

GWS gets in the first round as they wish and they get rid off some salary, they recruit 3 young players.
We get our players and 2 1st round picks in 2018 which looks to be a really good.draft

3 goals 11 in 48 games and not a whole lot of inside 50's is worrying. Is exciting when he runs around really fast though.
How important is it for players looking at coming to the club, to know who their captain will be?
If players/managers ask that question, what do we say?
1. Do we tell them that it's going to be Murphy?
2. Do we tell them that it's likely to be Docherty/Cripps, but ask them not to say anything to anyone, yet?
3. Do we just tell them that we don't know and it's something we deal with just before the start of the season?

Probably that one, most players would realise that Murphy isn't the long term captain
From "The Journey" he was pretty unanimously voted in to stay captain, which is fine. At 30yo (or whatever he is, about that) obviously he doesn't have long left in the job before a longer term option is anointed. I don't think who the captain is will impact on any of these players' decisions. Overall team/club culture, sure, but that's not dramatically changing via the captain.
I don't think that would be a deciding factor, provided that the playing group vote for that leadership group and captain

I know we are not going to attain all our rumoured targets, maybe two or three would be good(Rocky, Kennedy, Smith), but I am liking the aggression in this years trade period. Makes for plenty of depth in the team next year.

The "narrative" is always that their cap is full after getting tied down to long term deals with Lobbe and Hartlett however if they are chasing Rockliff, Motlop and Watts it can't be that bad...
Maybe that’s what Carlton is hoping for, just need to lock in Rockliff !!

I understood that they have chosen not to replace Craig’s role, but add a position into the coach posse. Would reckon more than one change of role.

I hope that he has a poor AA game so he slips to 3! He's exactly the player we need - unique, strong over head, great on ground level, very strong through the core, explosive pace. We need LDU less because of his poorer disposal. Not sure about Dow or Fogerty.
Be interesting if Barker doesn't get the GC role.....what role will does he play
If all that is speculated goes ahead then our midfield almost gains a centre bounce starting 4 in addition to what we already have.
Cripps, Murphy, Doc, Scully, Rockliff, Smith, Kennedy, Charlie, Ed, Petrevski-Seton, Cuningham, Fisher... (assuming Gibba goes).

I've read on here (so take it with a grain of salt) that they were one of the teams who didn't have players getting a rise in wage with the increase of the salary cap. If that's true then they could have a couple of million in cap space to play with.

Yes, incredibly arrows do not work as well in the same situations as cannon balls, and vice versa.
The very definition of what a contested possession is has changed in this decade, and he's capable of winning some contests on the outside, 1v1. That's going when it's his turn.
You don't send him into the centre stoppage too often, but he can win his own footy, and can be developed to do so more effectively.
