Looks bloody to me. I reckon there are some who hope he is no good because we could have taken him. I have no doubt at that at least 95% of people on here would going off tap if he was ours.

No more off tap than I would have been when Membrey kept dobbin bags against average opposition last year.

Never once offered 4 and 7

Oh well..makes me feel better than..there were talks that gws was keen on petracca and hence keen on getting hands on pick 1....while offering 4 and 7

It wasn't 4 & 7 that they offered, it was 6 & 7 for 1 & 21

You believe what's reported? Just like Pick 2 for Tyson & Pick 9 was reported....

Everyone misses the pick 20 Melbourne also coughed up because of the way the media reported the deal.

Same with Carlisle deal.

It was 6 & 7 for 1 & 21.... Trust me

ITK on ss (jaxons) at the time said it was 4 & 7 for 1 & 21. I have no reason to doubt him.

You clearly don't understand the machinations of the AFL marketplace, you take what you can get sometimes if there's no other options.
Giving up pick two and a ruck of any ability is a fair trade.

Speaking of machinations: do player agents/players negotiate "rights" with clubs?
For example: a highly regarded OOC player wishes to do the right thing by his current club and be there for their first premiership; but after that he is out of there, obligations fulfilled, and as a FA.
Does/Can that player or player's agent negotiate a "right of first refusal" with another club before extending with his current club?

the flip!?

Roughy is one of the best KPFs in the game.

2008 - 75 goals
2009 - 51 goals
2010 - 53 goals

2013 - 72 goals (Coleman medalist)
2014 - 75 goals
2015 - 50 goals

Only season he hasn't kicked more than 40 goals was his first 2 seasons & the year (2011) he ruptured his Achilles.
Where did I say that he's no good?

Surely you jest....

You said he's "barely a key forward".... Made me wonder if you'd actually watched any footy in the last 15yrs.

Well, if he's "barely a key forward" & kicking those large numbers of goals each year, are you suggesting he's just a tall utility that's very good when he drifts into the forward line? Seems strange because he has played there for about 85% of his career

This is what he said at the time

I would have done 4 & 6 for 1 & 21.

4 - 2MP
6 - Jake Lever
22 - Touk Miller
41 - Caleb Daniel

No hindsight here either. I've always been keen on 2MP, Miller & Daniel. Lever would have been a bonus given an extra early pick

It is pretty hindsight when we had the chance to pick Miller and Daniel regardless on the trade and still overlooked them.

So even if we did the trade it's highly likely we still end up with McKenzie and Lonie.

Personally, those I listed are the ones I wanted at those picks before the 2014 draft if we'd done that trade.

Agree, doesn't change the later picks though which I still don't agree with

or we still draft the two best players but just dont develop them past the first step of getting the benefits from just putting an elite talent into a full time football environment

If you re-do it using the ratings the club had this is what it would have looked like:

4 - Wright
6 - Laverde/Weller (given rumors that Laverde strongly indicated he only wanted to play for the Dons then Weller would have been next in line if the Pies still took De Goey).
22 - Impossible to say what would have changed given us taking Laverde/Weller.

Our top 20 according to Quayle:
1 - Paddy
2 - Petracca
3 - Brayshaw
4 - Wright
5 - Laverde
6 - De Goey
7 - Weller
8 - Langford
9 - Moore (9th place as per the Pies pick)
10 - Duggan
11 - Cockatoo
12 - Garlett.
13 - Goddard
14 - Lever
15 - McKenzie
16- Miller
17 - Ellis
18 - Heeney (Swans pick)
19 - Marchbank
20 - Lonie

Hahahahah 'barely watched any footy' roughy isn't ur stay at home full forward key position player his pick up below knees and be able to snap goals and his ability to impact games through stints in the midfield set him apart from your stock standard key postion players champion player but in no means is he ur old school stay at home forward

I actually fear a Carlton offer more than North Melb's . Gibbs heading Adelaide gives them potentially 3 tradable picks .

Correct.

And they are on the rise. They are very well coached.

Plus Carlton have major financial backers, room in their salary cap and a close trading relationship with GWS.

But it comes down to Kelly. Nobody in the media had sniffed the option of Carlton prior to Brown's comments tonight. Mick Warner indicated he couldn't confirm or deny it.

I don't think they are a serious player. They will stoke the flames but I sense it's likely to be North or Saints if Kelly leaves GWS.

But the trade period is still 4 months away.
