Key forwards come every year? What? The vast majority are taken with top 10 picks and there is maybe 1 top end key forward talent per year.

I like how you have ignored all the flags won by teams with at least 1 key forward and use the minority examples to prove you don't need them.

Roughead is not 'barely a key forward'.

I can think of a bunch of players that match or beat Petracca. Bont, Kelly, Shiel, Treloar, Cripps, Merrett to name a few. But clearly you are so far down the Petracca rabbit hole I Don't expect you to recognise that top end midfielders are way easier to find than key forwards.

He's going to be a match winning star something that doesn't come round every draft pal and something we won't find because they are very very rare to find

We were moving the ball faster from defense into fwd last year and we were better at creating turn overs into f50 entries. Thats made a huge difference but you cant take away all the responsibility off our fwds. They have had plenty of opportunities to mark and kick goals theyve stuffed up. Membrey is way down on last year.

A hobbled Roo who was a main link on the wing last year hasn't help the process either.

1) I wanted Petraccaca over McCartin at trade time

2) At this stage Petracca is having more impact than Paddy

3) McCartin may never be better than Petracca like Hodge was never better than Judd. Its what he may do in a GF one day like Hawkins or Boyd.

4) all good to critisise him, but the trolling calling him a fat diabetic was appalling and ahiws the lack of maturity and lifes experience of the ones doing that.

5) it is not a foregone conclusion that we have made a mistake. It is silly premature posturing from some.

We didn't draft petracca just the same as we didn't take Bont, who I was very keen on due to his extra height.

One question, what do st kilda need? What position does petracca play?.

Our list is average but we are potentially about to go all in on one guy. You missed my point. If Longer is as bad as you have said in the past then GWS would not want him at all. They'd want Hickey (you know the ruck that isn't in our best 22).

I doubt GWS really need another young, mostly unproven ruckman on their list (they have 3 on their list currently). If they are wanting someone to replace Mummy then they'll go after someone like Goldstein.

Gold Coast had Garry Ablett, he was clearly the best player in the AFL. Yay for them.

Not sure anyone has said 3 first round picks for Kelly. You get far to emotive with yours to support your position.

Petracca is and probably will be a better player than Mccartin but just imagine how bad our future forward line would look without Paddy. Especially at the time, when no one would've blamed roo for pulling stumps after the next season, bruce was an average key back, and membrey had barely hit the tarmac in melbourne. We'd still need to go for a key forward and would need to offer massive overs to blokes like schache and reid- No thanks.
