Lol what's the point of losing Roberton and then getting Pittard

We have the picks we need

Option A) Keep Roberton on big money

Option B) Acquire Pittard on the same or less money, and receive a good player back for Roberton.

Option C) Acquire Rockliff on the same or less money, let another player take over Roberton, for whom we receive a good player back

B and C is an overall net benefit to the club by leveraging the available Free Agents.

You won't get Pittard or Rockliff leaving interstate without a large contract. So it will likely be an upgrade on the Roberton price.

While he is also in the leadership group and arguable better players than those two.

Or D show our players that club will look after their own and have learnt from the past

Don't agree but Bains will do the right thing by the club with both Kelly and Roberton. If that's paying 700k then so be it. If its not then so be it. And I don't agree about this top 5 players thing. Is Carlisle a top 5 player. Is Brown a top 5 player. Is Geary a top 5 player?

If Kelly moves from GWS which have the potential to win a few flags, it won't just be for $$$. There will be other factors.

So if he decides his future is with us, I doubt we'd be paying much over $1m for him.

I don't know about the rest of you but MG mentioned 1 x leaving(clubs choice) + 1 x their choice due to their lack of opportunity (potentially). I'd assume that robbo has agreed to terms elsewhere + take your pick of Paddy (yeah i know hes contracted) slash acres/sav/ a ruckman.

Original comment was a fringe 22 who is contracted. We hold the cards and will only deal if it suits us. Plus player looking for more opportunities.

richo said a week or so back that a ruckman would leave for more opportunity, so i'd say hickey is going

my money is on savage going (forced). at his age, experience and how well he can dispose of the ball i'd say there would be a number of clubs interested in him

if i was the pies or freo he'd be one i'd be desperate to get my hands on for the right price

Word on the pittard camp from your very own Pittard ITK, don't think he's coming, was keener the last few years. But would prefer to be back in melbourne though so the interstate thing isn't a problem, rather sensing success again and more keen to stay at port.. that's the word I heard bout a week ago, could change

I don't know where the figures have come from.

Most likely support dragging them out of a certain oriface

Yeah we are guessing just like you said there is a $200,000 difference for him to go to the Hawks.

clubs that need a ruckmen:

Adelaide: Jacobs is 29, Jenkins 29, rest of the options have less than 5 games combined. You'd think they are into Grundy big time, hence why they look like losing McGovern/Lever

Carlton: if they lose Kruezer they may be in the market for a cheap option. But they do have Phillips with ~30 games experience. Gorringe/McKay/plus a yank as green options. So not in the Adelaide basket of desperate but still light on if Kruezer walks

Essendon: Bellchambers and Leuenberg are both 28 and 29 respectively. Then its Draper, an 18 year old rookie. Their decision here is probably based on where they see their list is at (finals or rebuilding) and how much longer they can get by with the two veterans

Collingwood: its pretty much Grundy and Cox. If Grundy decides to leave which could be likely given the Adelaide interest and the state of the contract negotiations then I think Collingwood has Eddie read out the codes to enter DEFCON: GET ME A ****IN TALL campaigner

if i'm reading the tea leaves then i think Grundy is going back to Adelaide to the crows and the pies have been into Hickey all year. remember they tried to get him when we traded with GC for his services

In all likelihood, Robbo wants to stay, and if he has had offers then he will sit down and try and do what's best for both parties.

That said, if he has a ridiculous offer then the club will have to decide if he's worth keeping.

Just as you don't sell the farm to recruit a player, you don't sell it to retain a player unless he is of the calibre of Roo in his prime.
