Bloody oath. I rate him as one of the best u21 talents going around. I'd give up one of our firsts for him in a heartbeat. Or certainly trade Bruce for him straight up.
If it was a deal that would Favour us I tend to agree with you.

Paddy
Marshal
Battle
Will all be looking to grab a full time forward position over the next couple years

leave Bruce alone pick on Weller , now trade him if you can
Exactly. What I don't get is, if his ankle is that bad, why did we keep playing him? It's not like he was playing well. More importantly, ankle or no ankle, why wasn't he chinning blokes? He is not a good enough player to be running around half injured & not be chinning campaigners.

He has to give up the yoga & the footy show appearances and get back to basics (chinning blokes)!

If we miss out on Kelly, and end up with picks 7 & 8. which option would you take?

A. Take 7 & 8 to the draft?

B. Trade them both for pick 1 or 2?

C. Trade one with Brisbane for picks 13 and 18, take other to draft.

D. " " " Richmond " " 15 & 16.

E. Both C & D giving us 4 1st round picks?

Honestly I like the sounds of trading both for pick 1 or 2.

But IF we did I'd also be throwing enough money at Rockliff so Brisbane have pick 1 and 2 and we can take home both Rayner and Rockliff and Brisbane hold pick 1/2, 7, 8 and 19.... fantasy but you ain't getting much better than that for both clubs!

Contested marks isn't the issue. Most tall forwards take marks on the lead and very few contested marks. Unfortunately apart from Roo our talls aren't fast enough on the lead to mark it out in front. That is the real issue. I doubt our contested marking is much worse than most clubs.
Im talking all over the ground including backline and from kick outs.

I like the work rate of Bruce & not sure if Battle & Marshall can replicate it, but for those that don't know if we could go on next year without Bruce then maybe we should look back to the past.
The Saints got Josh Bruce primarily as a backman in which he failed, took a risk & threw him forward to see how he would go & we all know the outcome of that.
So possibly there is every chance someone like Battle or Marshall if we take the risk, could prove more than capable.
Going to be very interesting when draft day/s come around.

So if we are in the business of trading injured players in the leadership group on the back of one down year, should we trade Jack Steven for some young fringe players as well?
Weller is no Jack Steven

Agree 100%. I've never doubted the blokes commitment & endeavour. He's a trier. A workhorse. An athlete. A team player. Bleeds for the club. All of the above. But he's not a footballers arseh*le. No disrespect intended.
120 goals in three seasons, 5 marks a game suggests you are completely wrong on your assessment of Bruce.

I remember when he would smash thru tackles and run
He did it once on sun and I thought wow there's the old Mav, it had literally been that long since I'd seen him do it I can't remember if i last saw him do it early this year or late last year

So, lads I read on twitter (admittedly from ricky nixon) that Libba and Stringer might be gettable.

Not sure if there is any truth to this but would we consider either?

Personally I'd look at Stringer... not sure the pingas out east would suit Libba..

Plenty here willing to trade out leaders when clearly with the loss of roo ect. we need more. But i'll bite....
Pick 7 and Newnes (maybe Lonie as stake knives) for picks 1 and 18.
1 on Rayner
8 and next years first for Kelly

Trade 18 for some money ball outside run

Maybe get Casboult as goal kicking coach....

Wouldn't believe anything that ****wit says, he has good form in making stupid calls in the vein hope of being right to try make himself half relevant again. Spends most of his time now messaging 17 year old girls and making rubbish rumours up online, attacking anyone who dares to disagree with him.

FWIW though, Libba every day of the week. Stringer has the ability to be a superstar, but is extremely inconsistent, goes missing and wastes a lot of chances...so he'd probably fit in best.

Weller is a good player and he is no star ,
so his position as a half forward has past him by , due to the amount of spare mids we will have , look at Steele will fill the position better. we also have Gresham , Acres , Sinclair , Billings , Stevens , Dunstan , Ross , Armitage , Savage , Freeman , Minchington = ok a few might not be playing in the forward line , however if we secure 2 mids , which I'm sure we will - Wellers position is taken , full stop.
Trade him for a good young player like Balic.

Stringer is selfish and lazy, one of the most over hyped players ever. He's been even worse this year then he was last year.

Libba has been very average since he did his knee, the way he's going this year he makes Dunstan look like a ball magnet. Seems much more interested in partying than footy, too much of a loose unit. Dogs will lose patience with him IMO.

Hard pass on both if they were to become available.

We should be in the business of doing anything and everything to make our list better and what ever it takes to win a flag.
Not to many players on our list that are untouchable so if we can improve our list by moving on players that are not 10 on our list, my oath we should

Fair enough, mate.

I think a change of club would put the boot right up Stringer and turn him into that superstar.

Doubt the dogs would let either go though

Mav will be back stronger than ever next season . He has had a massively disruptive year with injuries and a off ground issue.
My man love could not be any stronger for the quality person Mav is right now . Circle the wagons people .

Libba has very significant issues. Pass.

Remember for what ever cousins turned into he was extremely professional pre 05. A high functioning addict.

Old mate libba hasn't even been able to maintain that level of commitment
