Okay lets look at a 7 year contract for over $1M+. Who from the 2010 team would deserve a contract like that. Not many, maybe only one and he's just retired.

what Ryan has over Lonie is a contested mark .. Lonie would have him covered for endurance and defensive pressure but Ryan would have him for marking kicking and natural flair ... last week Ryan played on the WCE affiliated WAFL side on AFL quality players and held his own, but its about playing to your strenghts he will get ragdolled if he is trying to win the ball at the bottom of the pack but you wouldnt want him there you will want him jumping on Bruce's head to take mark of the year before calmly slotting it through the big sticks ..

Yeah, fair enough. I did see in the link posted above that he's 184cm, all of 10cm bigger than Lonie, so not as small as I thought.

Just a quick one - I remember the whole champagne popping posts that were shared a few weeks/months ago from ITK's.

It's now quite obvious that both Kelly/Martin aren't over the line and that its looking more likely that neither one of them has agreed to come to us.

My question is, has something changed since then? Did anything even happen back then?

At the end of the day, deals don't get done in May/June. I rate MG's info but nothing is ever over the line that early. And to be fair, he didn't suggest it was.

I've said all along that I really doubt we're in the running for Martin. But if we are, he would be the one. The main reason being the free agency factor, we give up nothing for him pick wise and we'd still be able to take 7-8 to the draft and get two future guns. Same reason I'd hope we're looking at Rockliff - costs no picks, and we have a really strong hand for the draft this year.

Apparently the Dusty offers are:

Richmond: $1.1 x 7 = $7.7mil

North: $1.5 x 8 = $12mil

Yeah North can have him...

mark Williams said a few weeks ago he's certain there have been huge offers,plural, made to dusty other than Richmond's. So there is at least one other team that's offered presumably above what Richmond can, that hasn't really been noted in the media.

You never know what's going to happen over the trade period, it might just throw up a few surprises.

The free agent market is getting pretty thin, of the guys left I think Trengove would be the best fit for us.

I'm still hopeful that we bring in some A grade talent but I doubt it will be Martin or Kelly. I understand why north would make an offer like that but frankly I think Martin will stay at the Tigers.

That leaves Kelly who is a great young player but hardly a buddy Franklin or Riewoldt, I would be pretty uncomfortable paying the price that will be needed to win his services, 2 first rounders probably 1.2 million plus and a very long contract if that's what he wants.

I just wonder who may be on the table at the right price from our own players, that could change everything.

If we don't, it won't be for a lack of trying. There's a limit on what you can control. Fingers crossed it will fall into place for us.

If not, we move on.

Have said it in the past, it won't surprise me if we land a highly rated kid with a few years under his belt... or maybe two such players, if we can't land Kelly or Dusty.

Let's be realistic look at the guns in that team then tell me we should sell the farm for Kelly.

Rather give Dusty $2million over 3 years.
That way he may still have money value to another club if he wants it, or be happy to go to NZ to be with his dad. In the mean time we could possibly have a couple of premierships & become the go to club.
