See I don't believe any other that stuff. I believe people hear things from sites like this and then they say they have inside info. A manager wouldn't spread that crap because clubs talk. The player wouldn't want that crap to be spread either and the manager works for the player. All along Conners has said he will most likely stay.

By the way you do realise Conners works for the player and not the club or the supporters. He is obviously one of the best if not the best managers for the players.

It depends on what you value. I would rather take less and stay with my mates if it was around the mark. Players taking too much for themselves can cost the whole team. I reckon the American style greed is ****ed where the individual is bigger than society. Connors creates bad blood between player and team and the days where a club official could discuss things civilly with players is gone. Managers demand to be the intermediary and cause more trouble than anything.

In the old days the club would have walked up to Robbo and asked him how much it would cost to stay, Robbo would have set a figure, the club said we have this much because we want to keep X player and they would have settled. These days the managers don't let that happen and have no interest in anything but their percentage share.

Gringo he is getting another year so they seem pretty happy. I certainly wouldn't give him another year because I don't get it but the club must have huge confidence.

I'm just saying he would have been pretty aware that expectations were that we should play finals. It doesn't encourage selection bravery.

We need to lay off mav. Especially if he was playing hurt. Have any of the posters ripping into him tried playing football injured? It is incredibly frustrating and makes you look second rate because you simply can't do what you want and then that messes with your head and confidence. If he backs it up again has another shithouse year, I'll eat my words but coming into this season he was one of our favourite players and we shouldn't write of our own so quickly.

Saw on Twitter that apparently Carlton been enquiring about 3 for 7 and 8. I wouldn't do it straight but what about 8 and a future second for 3? They'd want 7 but still points value add up. Do they have any father sons next year to bid on? Probably able to get rayner at 3 if not him 2 of dow cerra and LDU should be there. And can still get someone at 7/8.
If we're to trade up I'd want to get into the top 2 ideally. We need speed/explosiveness in the midfield and someone with serious weapons more than anything IMO, and the two I'd be most keen to trade up for are Rayner and Dow, and both could easily be gone by 3.

Cerra and LDU I'd be extremely interested in as well if we hadn't gotten Steele last year, or Dunstan hadn't finished off the season like he did, but both those things did happen, so as talented as they are, I probably wouldn't want to trade up for either of those two.

Neither of them are close to the quality of player JB is

I reckon JB has the potential to be the best of the lot but his kicking on goal let him down this year. He had a nearly great year. Both the Essendon guys kicked their goals and as a forward that's your measure. If Billings gets his accuracy back he will be elite.

Kelly is doing exactly that from the sounds of it.

Jack Higgins looks like billings 2.0 to me. Didn't Richo once say he wants as many jack billings' as possible?
I think Cerra is a little classier than the Steele/dunstan types we have already. I'd be taking those two if end up drafting - Cerra may not be available.

I'm still suggesting the picks could be going to gold Coast though.

Agree, but it doesn't explain why he kept playing / getting picked. Should have done rehab / rest until able to contribute properly.

Spot on, it was pretty obvious to me that he just didn't have the explosiveness, agility, or leap that were his weapons last year and when you take someone's weapons off them and send them out into battle, it's pretty fair to say they're not going to be anywhere near as effective!

If he was playing injured as I think it's very obvious he was, he presumably also wouldn't have been training anywhere near as much, which would also cause him to lose fitness.

Look at how much the shoulder injuries made a difference to Luke Dunstan for a long period of time. He was a shadow of his previous self for ages.

This deserves a Ripping Post nomination!

This 100%

We did it with Roo, Steven and Mav. Kept picking them when they're not fit and they play like shit. Does my head in. If you're not fit to play then don't ****ing play.

The talk is that Rayner might not have as much appeal to the Queensland teams because he's a metro Melbourne boy and they have the worst go home rate. Unfortunately both teams need mids and are pretty well stacked for tall players so both eating in our paddock. If we could guarantee they were leaving Rayner we would have to look at the Carlton offer. Might need Trout to get on the phone.

Yeah possibly but all players want to play and will say they're 80-90% even if they're 60. A lot of players might have contract incentives as well, which won't be achieved if they're sitting in the sidelines.

I reckon not having a first round pick in a super strong draft is why we didn't have any RS noms. Last year was supposed to be weak at the top end but had some good talent depth up into the second round. We only had a second rounder and used it speculatively on Long. Battle was a great get though. We seem land on our feet sometimes. Gresham made the Carlisle deal a bargain and Battle covers our arses on Long.
Long was the wrong choice but not so confident the other options will make it long term.
Saying that with no Jelly/Fyfe, the apparent weakness of this draft and seeing SPP who we seemed to be very keen on doing so well I wonder if we didn't make a mistake in the Hawks trade.

Extreme froffage, made Sidebum look like an absolute sh.t campaigner. Oh wait, he is.
PS: WTF is Ben Reid doing in the background? I think he got caught up in Blacres jet stream and spiralled out of control
Sidey is better than all of our mids

heard the Brisbane List Manager say that they specifically target Queenslanders or Vic Country players, as they have to move to play AFL.

Vic Metro not that keen.

did you read the post of just the ratings ... i clearly explained the ratings

Yes I did and I would say its harder to be an A minus than an A except for midfield and flankers. Once I see A for anything I start to think they are close to stars. We had one this year IMO and that was Ross with Robbo close.

Lachie Neale, Tom Clurey, Dean Kent, Rory Atkins, Mason Wood, Bontempelli, Patrick Cripps, Jack Leslie, Darcy Gardiner, Zach Merrett, Aliir, Petracca, Peter Wright, Jake Lever, Touk Miller, McGovern, Daniel, Fiorini, Bonner, buzza, Powell-pepper, Parfitt, Fisher, Lipinski, Darcy,

Can't wait.
