Meanwhile former North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow said he would like to be traded to the Suns to finish his career playing alongside his brother David.

Although Swallow is a leader, an excellent trainer and role model, his on-field form has fallen away and he was dropped several times this season.

The interesting part of this is North Melbourne have multiple threads about David Swallow coming to North Melbourne and the irony of it is Andrew ends up going to Gold Coast Suns.

Best 22 is usually referred to as starting 22 u would think. He does not appear to be this and is next in line if Prestia, Cotch and perhaps Martin, Caddy and one or two others get injured depending on who we play and what team balance they are looking for.

He has trade value now, so if we get the right trade where we get the pick value or helps to bring in a player we have need we should do it.

I think you would agree where others will not us we should really also look at doing this with Castagna. He may improve some of his deficiencies, but I have my doubts, but as a Premiership player his value may never be better. Trouble is his best bud Butler and what splitting the two up would do to the team culture.

We need to be bold while we can if there are opportunities to improve our list. Top opposition teams will start planning to beat us and our style next year rather than believing their team and style of playing will beat us (plus a harder draw in theory). We can stay still and expect to finish near the top.

I'll be surprised if Castagna gets to 100 games. I am confident Bolton and Stengle will soon whiz past him and I would not be adverse to trading him at this point. Was very lucky to hold on to his spot in the final weeks.
I have an inkling, being a Cinderella story and all - winning the first premiership in nearly 40 years - we won't make the hard but correct calls on some of our premiership 22 going forward.

If he does get traded it would be a very big indication of club first mentality, in that no player is bigger than the club

No offence to Tiger71 as he delivers good information regularly but I'm leaning towards Snout version of how trade period will go.

Said a few weeks that I thought we'd be pretty quiet and just look at making some minor trades to improve our draft position so we can hopefully get 2 first round kids and Naish in. 3 top 20 rated kids would be a great addition to a premiership list.

The thing is a few months ago i had also said if we dont get him for what we want to pay we are more then happy to go to the draft with our two picks.

Just on the Miles thing, it doesn’t appear as though we want to trade him as we have offered him a one year contract. However, if he opts to move for greater opportunity, then we won’t stand in his way.

They may be keen,But can,t see how they get it done.
They are chasing W/C pick 13 which would be to high for schache.
1 of 2nd rnd picks off Essendon is about his worth but if we are still keen pick 17 will trump.Unless they have really cracked the shits with us.

My belief is that if we get our price he is ours. Why i believe that is my mate who told me about schache 6 months before anyone even knew that the lions number 2 pick wanted out after having a fantastic first year would know.

Schache will also get to play in front of a crowd at Richmond, earn more money over the length of his career and just be generally happier.

How likely do you think it is that we get the Schache deal done?

Imo I think Brisbane know like Stringer and Watts he can't stay at the club because he won't play his best football there, so I think we'll get him

I guess evidence is there as to why he,s dropped so far.But like a few years ago with Ryan Burton,The Hawks were the only club who could afford to take the gamble.I reckon we should do the same but not overpay.

Brisbane linked to Lobbe for a late pick. As Brisbane need to keep their points to match for Ballenden but only have pick 43 to match after the start of the second round (pick 20), this most likely will be pick 75 as Port need to free up cap space.

Cannot see anything other than pick 17 and steak knives (Lennon / Batchelor / Lloyd) for Schache as both us and the Lions more lower round picks to avoid a point deficit. Apparently several other clubs are now circling.
