AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
But Schache is one of the 30-40% that don't make it. At least with the pick you have a chance of getting a player, not a 9 touch a game dud.
Best 22 is usually referred to as starting 22 u would think. He does not appear to be this and is next in line if Prestia, Cotch and perhaps Martin, Caddy and one or two others get injured depending on who we play and what team balance they are looking for.
He has trade value now, so if we get the right trade where we get the pick value or helps to bring in a player we have need we should do it.
I think you would agree where others will not us we should really also look at doing this with Castagna. He may improve some of his deficiencies, but I have my doubts, but as a Premiership player his value may never be better. Trouble is his best bud Butler and what splitting the two up would do to the team culture.
We need to be bold while we can if there are opportunities to improve our list. Top opposition teams will start planning to beat us and our style next year rather than believing their team and style of playing will beat us (plus a harder draw in theory). We can stay still and expect to finish near the top.
If he does get traded it would be a very big indication of club first mentality, in that no player is bigger than the clubI'll be surprised if Castagna gets to 100 games. I am confident Bolton and Stengle will soon whiz past him and I would not be adverse to trading him at this point. Was very lucky to hold on to his spot in the final weeks.
I have an inkling, being a Cinderella story and all - winning the first premiership in nearly 40 years - we won't make the hard but correct calls on some of our premiership 22 going forward.

No offence to Tiger71 as he delivers good information regularly but I'm leaning towards Snout version of how trade period will go.
Said a few weeks that I thought we'd be pretty quiet and just look at making some minor trades to improve our draft position so we can hopefully get 2 first round kids and Naish in. 3 top 20 rated kids would be a great addition to a premiership list.
Just on the Miles thing, it doesn’t appear as though we want to trade him as we have offered him a one year contract. However, if he opts to move for greater opportunity, then we won’t stand in his way.

Not doubting at all just commenting on how you're saying we're still looking at Schache but I reckon we've gone off him as too many red flags gave surfaced in the second half of the year. The thing is a few months ago i had also said if we dont get him for what we want to pay we are more then happy to go to the draft with our two picks.
Simply i stated even during the last month of the season the noise out of the tigers re schache was simply a tatic to reduce the price. Caro wrote a piece exactly saying that.
We did that so we could get him at our price but again if we cant we wont stress and head to the draft. All i have tried to say with all the work done since last years off season highlights we do have an intrest if we get him at our price.
They may be keen,But can,t see how they get it done.Dogs keen on schache
Might be in our favor.Doggies offer up Pick 25.We offer pick 17.As it stands now Bris may think he,s worth a top 15 pick. This is the only stumbling block I’m worried about.

Mick McGuane offered some sound insights on Schache.... said doesnt crash packs, lacks presence and pressure.... not sure if he can find this....Might be in our favor.Doggies offer up Pick 25.We offer pick 17.As it stands now Bris may think he,s worth a top 15 pick.
Did you say ****?Sam Powell Pepper to the tigers confirmed. Dare I say "lock"

Not to mention playing with Dusty.Schache will also get to play in front of a crowd at Richmond, earn more money over the length of his career and just be generally happier.
How likely do you think it is that we get the Schache deal done?Honestly i really believe and so do the lions that a lot of those red flags were of our creating. The meeting with the kid highlighted that. People are now believing the kid has depression or bipolar because he cried at our meeting, it got so bad Leppa had to come out to debunk it.
My belief is that if we get our price he is ours. Why i believe that is my mate who told me about schache 6 months before anyone even knew that the lions number 2 pick wanted out after having a fantastic first year would know.

Asked if he woukd trade for him, he responded with a defiant no.
Thats puts it to bed for me.
Pass.

I guess evidence is there as to why he,s dropped so far.But like a few years ago with Ryan Burton,The Hawks were the only club who could afford to take the gamble.I reckon we should do the same but not overpay.Mick McGuane offered some sound insights on Schache.... said doesnt crash packs, lacks presence and pressure.... not sure if he can find this....
