Despite it being the last game of the season & neither team in finals contention there was a real buzz in the crowd in the last quarter.

I seem to remember Fev getting 'dragged' by Pagan during the last quarter for some silly indiscretion.

You may well remember there was no MCC Members' Stand or Ponsford Stand at the time as they were both being rebuilt.

AFL mid-season Phantom Draft according to Fox Sports.

PICK 1 - Carlton - Josh Deluca
The Blues had been linked early to Coburg forward Sam Lowson, who suffered an injury scare on the eve of the mid-season draft.
But the consensus among the club recruiters watching on at Ikon Park on Sunday was Western Australia mature-aged prospect Josh Deluca is the man likely to be called out by the Blues with the first mid-season rookie draft pick since 1993.
Kyle Dunkley was another player considered to be in the mix for the selection, but there have been suggestions the Blues hadn’t even interviewed the 18-year-old.
The 23-year-old former Docker didn’t play at WAFL level on the weekend following a hamstring niggle. He has averaged 25.7 disposals this season playing for Subiaco.

I'd like to hear from those who have seen a decent chunk of Deluca's form this year, because if he's not a genuine top 40 chance in November, we sure as **** better catapult out of the bottom 4 in the second half of the season.
Haven't seen a lot of him this year, so don't know how much he may have improved. But I watched him a few times when he was playing at Peel and he knows how to get into the right places and has speed.

His disposal is a bit iffy (but not as bad as some make out). The major knock on him is his resilience; the reason he only played 4 games in 4 years at Freo is because he kept breaking down. Not sure if he has a body that can sustain an AFL workload.

Looks like Josh Deluca. Age 23 181cms a ready to go mid, best on ground in the recent state game. Played in at least 3 state league premierships, could be 4.
He’s listed at 179 cm isn’t he and 80 kg at that size I’d rather take Mitch McGuire from Canberra. But we already have undersized inside mids so what’s the point.

After watching Carlton today, Joshs pressure around the ball and hard nosed approach will certainly help. I think a defensive forward-midfield role is where he will fall in to play. He's hard at it, a great tackler and big accumulater. Kicking was an issue but that greatly improved last year with Subiaco and furthermore again this season, getting forward for scoring opportunities too. He has pace and endurance.
He's not been on too many losing teams in his career either so he only knows winning, which has got to be good thing.
You just described Gibbons, so what’s the point.

Not sold on Deluca but will support him and hope he adds value.

Still think we should be looking at who we think will be the best for us long-term rather than as a stop gap.

And I am still keen on Dunkley who looks to have really developed this year.

For selfish reasons I will be disappointed to lose Anderson and/or Fisher if they are selected tonight, both are important players for the Northern Blues.
