The major knock on him is his resilience; the reason he only played 4 games in 4 years at Freo is because he kept breaking down. Not sure if he has a body that can sustain an AFL workload.

Holy crap SOS wouldn't take another injury prone player, surely?

For my reference, if Anderson and Fisher get taken tonight, do the NBs get any provisions to recruit new players? We're finally having a good year so would suck to lose these guys for nothing.

Thems the breaks though, if true.

Sydney are also apparently interested, so if you rate their recruiters then that's a good sign.
Really the one thing I’ve noticed with a lot of the players listed is they have been on Sydney’s list or have trained with Sydney at some stage, not sure exactly what this says but Sydney certainly churn through a lot to find the ones they keep.

Seriously, if we pick Deluca, it only demonstrates our deficiencies with our drafting last year. Just plugging holes....
For gods sake, take an over-aged late bloomer who would be top 30 draft pick this year, and develop him to be part of our young group coming through. What the **** have we got to lose???
Exactly, do the smart thing and take Dunkley.

He’s listed at 179 cm isn’t he and 80 kg at that size I’d rather take Mitch McGuire from Canberra. But we already have undersized inside mids so what’s the point.
He shrunk overnight, yesterday he was 181. I don't care how tall they are as long as they attack the ball and can stick a few tackles which this bloke can do.

So Pickett's long term injury didn't create a 2nd spot?
Not on the LTI list, not sure why they put Doc on but not Pickett maybe keeping pPickrett to put on later if Doc comes back early, but then why not just put Pickett on and leave Doc off from the start, who knows?

AFL mid-season Phantom Draft according to Fox Sports.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/af...r/news-story/6d442447d5145c5131d7df053417552d

PICK 1 - Carlton - Josh Deluca
The Blues had been linked early to Coburg forward Sam Lowson, who suffered an injury scare on the eve of the mid-season draft.
But the consensus among the club recruiters watching on at Ikon Park on Sunday was Western Australia mature-aged prospect Josh Deluca is the man likely to be called out by the Blues with the first mid-season rookie draft pick since 1993.
Kyle Dunkley was another player considered to be in the mix for the selection, but there have been suggestions the Blues hadn’t even interviewed the 18-year-old.
The 23-year-old former Docker didn’t play at WAFL level on the weekend following a hamstring niggle. He has averaged 25.7 disposals this season playing for Subiaco.
If that’s true that we didn’t interview Dunkley we are a joke and I give up.

Mid season draft should be used by Carlton for a ready made player.
DeLuca fits the bill
Dunkley is another kid. We have plenty of young midfielders we need mature bodies.
Kennedy shot himself in the foot yesterday. Dunstan tore him a new one

If you are drafting for winning games this year and still finish last then sure I agree.

If you are drafting to win a Premiership in 5 years time though?

I do not understand why we didn't move Jarrod Pickett on to the inactive list to a least get another free swing?

The only thing I can think of is that we are hitting the top of our salary cap!
