O’Halloran or Stocker with our 1st

Valente or Stack with our 2nd
Valente and Stack should be long gone before our 2nd pick. More realistic targets IMO are Tom Sparrow and Tom McKenzie.

Sparrow looks promising.

I'm very much leaning towards pulling the trigger on Ely Smith with our first if the likes of Stocker, RCD etc are gone - which isn't unlikely.

No confusion...
Club just went for B2B this year and kept all the VFL players for back-up...
We missed...
So the Club is doing a clean out of the VFL and hoping TLynch is the magic bullet for another shot at the Flag and so are doing a mini rebuild in the background...
We still have picks...
We still have some up and coming young players...
Full steam ahead for another Flag...
Absolutely spot on
Can not like this enough

Ely Smith would be nice.

I’m sure we will go best available, so clear the decks for some melts in draft night when we pick a tall defender or a...small pressure forward who can take a run through the middle.

Still want smith with our first, something about him screams future star. I think stocker is more "vanilla" (hate that term) but still would be a good pick up. Valente looks a likely type also, decent size and gets the hard ball.

Smiths pace and leap are what have been making me excited, fyfe type dynamic

Knightmare's latest Phantom has us taking:

1st pick: Liam Stocker
2nd pick: Tom Sparrow

Would be very happy with that come next week.

Interestingly had Bytel available at our 2nd pick too. Would be rapt if that eventuated.

Definitely think we should be offering up next year's first and 37 for there picks 24 and 29 this year which we could use to get Smith/valente/ohalloran and the best available with 17
There is still the option of treading for a higher pick as well in this years draft. this and next years first for a higher pick + a later pick in the 20's.

Nothing interesting about that at all. He's been predicted to go third round for a long time now.

Stocker and Smith would be a dream.... both would be ready made for 2019. Valente also..... but Adelaide are really into him .

Still curious if we get creative and try move up in the draft...... I think Sparrow will be a fine player but will take a little longer. Lean from memory.

It's not really a Phantom draft more a power ranking as he has academy and father son picks in the 20-50 range but says that they could go higher

It's not a phantom draft at all. He doesn't place the bids on father-sons and academy picks or take away the picks teams will need to use to get them, i e. he has North getting Thomas and Scott but he still gives them all the picks in the 40s and 50s they'll have to give up.

He might get paid, but the bloke's an amateur.

Yer he rekons we need more tall backman...
I dont think he is aware of Garthweight/ Miller/ Balta
He has no idea

Geez this bloke is impressive. Speaks so well. Some of his traits remind me of Cotch. Don’t think he’ll be there. But would be over the moon to get Stocker

Luv the quote.
"Your hard work gets recognised or your lack of work gets realised."
Please be there at our pick.

Gws might be the only club who may be able to come to the party.
Rich>>Pick 17 & 2019 1st
Gws>>Pick 11 & 25.

Gives us:11,25 & 37.

Interesting piece in the H/S in regards to the Suns offering up pick 2 & 6 for pick 1.(can't see Carlton doing it)
A table of pick 1's vs pick 2's & 6's since 2000.

If you believe the rumours, Gold Coast is attempting to add another top five draft pick to its arsenal.

The Suns are eyeing off Carlton’s No.1 pick or St Kilda’s pick No.4 in what would be the biggest draft pick trade since Hawthorn secured Fremantle’s No.1 in 2001.

To secure the Blues’ top pick - and you would assume Sam Walsh - the Suns would have to give up picks No.2 and 6.

CHAMPION DATA: RANKINE NAMED TOP PROSPECT

CONTRACT TALKS: BIGGEST 13 SIGNATURES OF 2019

ROSS THE BOSS: INSIDE LOOK AT SAINTS RECRUITING

While pick No.6 would also be involved in any trade with the Saints.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and looking back at past drafts, the Blues could be tempted to secure two young guns but history tells us potential is also fraught with danger.

Taking last year’s draft as an example, would you be happy to give up Cam Rayner, knowing you’d secure Andrew Brayshaw and Jaidyn Stephenson?

South Australian prospect Izak Rankine.
Carlton fans might be disappointed to miss out on Walsh but the addition of Izak Rankine and Bailey Smith, or perhaps Ben or Max King, would certainly ease the pain.

Gold Coast’s pursuit of St Kilda’s No.4 draft pick looks a little harder to accomplish.

However, the pay-off for the Suns would be immense given they would then own picks No.2, 3 and 4.

Pick No.1 v 2 & 6
2017 Cam Rayner Andrew Brayshaw & Jaidyn Stephenson
2016 Andrew McGrath Tim Taranto & Sam Petrevski-Seton
2015 Jacob Weitering Josh Schache & Aaron Francis
2014 Paddy McCartin Christian Petracca & Caleb Marchbank
2013 Tom Boyd Josh Kelly & Matthew Scharenberg
2012 Lachie Whitfield Jono O'Rourke & Jack Macrae
2011 Jon Patton Stephen Coniglio & Chad Wingard
2010 David Swallow Harley Bennell & Reece Conca
2009 Tom Scully Jack Trengove & Gary Rohan
2008 Jack Watts Nic Naitanui & Chris Yarran
2007 Matthew Kreuzer Trent Cotchin & David Myers
2006 Bryce Gibbs Scott Gumbleton & Mitch Thorp
2005 Marc Murphy Dale Thomas & Beau Dowler
2004 Brett Deledio Jarryd Roughead & Tom Williams
2003 Adam Cooney Andrew Walker & Kepler Bradley
2002 Brendon Goddard Daniel Wells & Steven Salopek
2001 Luke Hodge Luke Ball & Ashley Sampi
2000 Nick Riewoldt Justin Koschitzke & Dylan Smith

Only year it paid off would be 2011 with Coniglio & Wingard.(excluding 2017.To early to tell).

Just goes to show top 10 picks despite how high they are is just as a lottery as later picks.

What do you mean 2011 was the only year it would've paid off? I think 2014, 2013 (Scharenberg is a great player apart from injuries, but Kelly alone makes this better), 2008 (once again, Nic Nat makes this better), 2007 (I'd take Cotchin and Myers over just Kreuzer).

And in 2006 you could have got Jack and Duckwood if you knew what you were doing. I'd take 2&6 every day of the week.

Talking about the 2.Not as individuals.Giving up pick 1 you'd want something great from picks 2 & 6 Particully. As the chart shows pick 6 hardly guarantees a 50 game player let alone a star.
