For what it's worth, I'm not part of any clique. I am my own person. I think that I have as much criticism as some other posters here at times. I know for a fact that in the past I've felt that I've been run off the board.

If the O'Brien pick was mocked I gave you perfectly good reasons why that may have been the case. I've also justified his draft selection. Logic follows that if you were going to post that about TDK and heard the same of O'Brien that you'd post that too.

But it's also true that you critiqued the TDK pick with the same criticism as you offered for the O'Brien pick. Meanwhile no such post exists at the time for the O'Brien selection.

I'm sorry that you received a private message to that magnitude. I suggest reporting it. That's not on and I know for a fact that Aphrodite wouldn't tolerate that from anyone.

There were definitely a few raised eyebrows from other Draft tables in the room when we called out his name - and the Brisbane table straight out laughed when we called his name.

I hope he works out, his highlight reel looks promising.

Don't doubt that you saw and heard what you did, agro, but are you interpreting the situation correctly?

Could be just as likely that the Brisbane recruiters were having their own conversation and any laughter was based on something completely unrelated to our pick. Maybe they were having bets on who we'd take and someone was shown up?

And beyond that, even if they were laughing at our selection - do the thoughts of Brisbane recruiters really hold much weight?

A lot of people in the Draft room had the same reaction when the Carlton called out O’Brien’s name at number 10 in last years draft too.

You can say you don't rate him but don't make up lies. I know for a FACT that we he second choice for a club earlier if someone else wasn't available and that 2 clubs almost straight after ours told him they would pick him if available.

Maybe some were surprised Carlton picked him because prior to draft they made absolutely no promises whether they would pick him or not.

I can completely understand if you can't divulge the information but which club was he the second choice of?

I had heard from my Pies supporting friend (I've posted about them before) that they had their heart set on Stephenson but if he hadn't dropped due to the well publicized issues that Lochie was their man. They rated his kicking game that highly moving forward (potential 20 goal a year wingman / flanker).

Is that right?

That's pretty ordinary.
Should expose who that is and maybe have him/her cleared from this board.

It doesn't make sense (common sense, at least) that one would go out of their way to lie here, for the fun of it.
Sometimes we choose to believe something harder than may be necessary and reasonable, but that doesn't always amount to a lie.

As it turns out, I would have been happy either way as Richards looks the goods too now. Long term Lochie's running ability and kicking excite me more.

That's what I thought on the night, until I went back and had a good look at TDK pre his 2017 injury.
Good to now know he has his head screwed on properly, also.

I was the same. Thought we would go Worpel or Constable. Very happy with what we did.

It is turning out last years draft pool looks pretty good for first 15 or so players.
The mature age types in 20's been pretty good too.

Still keen to see Constable in action. Probably next year for Cats. Worpel I sense is another Mark Whiley type.

WB being the club ahead of us? Would mean they wanted Naughton, but if gone would take O'Brien, which lines up with them opting for Richards with their next pick.

Otherwise, St Kilda wanting two of Coffield/Clark/O'Brien makes sense.

I was in a younger age group than DVR's father figure. A good friend played with and against him and is close to the family. Going into the draft I was told to be hopeful for him being drafted towards the end of the draft. This, through my friend, is what the family were advised. To say that I was both delighted and shocked when we drafted him so early was an understatement. Allegedly he and his family were too. I think he would have done much better had he been drafted where he thought he'd be (the Clem Smith or Jayden Foster spot in the 60s) with lower expectations and demands. He was always going to be a slow burner. Unfortunately, being drafted in the second round and put into that type of situation was not good for him and he was unable to come on as quickly as he wanted to. Of course, he made it easy for SOS to delist him as part of the out of contract deadwood.

My understanding with LOB and TDK is that we pinched Sydney's pocket both times. That being said, they could have had Richards instead of Ling.

While I maintain that Richards' agility sucks, I clearly underestimated his anaerobic endurance. I look forward to seeing how Lochie matches up against him as his physical development begins to stack up with that of Richards.

Spot on, even the two main media phantom drafters knew we were either taking O'Brien or Richards. Why someone would make up such an obviously bullshit story baffles me

agro please report the offending PM as that is not on.

Also the report function is there for a reason and we look at reports and take action if necessary, especially with repeat offenders.
Best not to engage and use the report function and that goes for everyone.

Situations don't need to escalate in public as most times they won't end well.

Abuse/name calling/condescending remarks/threats towards one another will not be tolerated and warnings have been posted in several threads.

I have cleaned up some of the posts in this thread.

Name and shame those who pm'd you agro, very weak of them to sledge privately.

Whilst I don't necessarily take much store of these type post draft reaction/comments, you should be thanked for bring the info forward. Ultimately we wont be able to judge how it went for at least another 4 years IMO.
