Rioli to come out of retirement to play for us in 2019......Maurice that is.

Seriously though, there is not much that looks good on the bringing players in via trade or free agent front this year. Part of the reason for that is because WAs recent (probably last 4-5 years) draftee pools have been relatively weak, with maybe one standout and a few sort ofs per year in general.
You are you taking the piss? If you are its in poor taste Maurice hasn't retired he's pass on!

217 pages on this post and no word from the club, any player or agent about anyone remotely close to joining the club whether it be Lobb, Conca, Kelly, Martin, Hogan, Duncan......and still waiting on official word about the "James Hird Opposition Analyst role", the list manager and GM of Football. How hard is it to make decisions these days? It's not like we have other things to do as a football club this time of year.

The lack of knowledge on movements both staff and players is frustrating but the trade period hasn’t officially commenced and some staff targets may still be engaged with their current clubs or in the process of finishing up. The only thing that shits me is lachie Neale at present. Club needs to say we love you and want you around but if the feeling is not mutual then advise by a certain timeframe, we announce it to media and we can all move on.

The Doig medal is the 6th of October.

It should be come clearer after that.

Nah we love Lachie until Brissy cough up. Surely he is the reason we organised trade talks earlier in the year.

Lachie Weller was our best player until we got pick 2. There is surely even more to emerge but the club is pretty watertight. We wouldn't even know this much if it wasn't for Brissy leaking..........

There is so much made up speculation about us due to there being no informed media informants at the club

Neale leaving wont cost a premiership and he isnt the type that will win one. He is a very good player but not a great player

I remember people saying the biggest mistake Lyon made in the 2013 GF was relegating Lachie to being the sub... and that was when he was still just a rookie!

I think he's being underrated by many here - 'an accumulator, not a matchwinner' - well what about single-handedly winning that clearance in the dying stages against Richmond last year for example? That was the very definition of a match winning moment.

I see there is some talk of Jack Martin to Essendon. I’m surprised that we are not linked to him as we have been interested in the past.

Anyone who doesn’t think Lobb fits the bill?

Remember he’s 25 years old and should start coming into his prime in the next few years. Hopefully we can get him without giving away any of our firsts.
Yep remember too this is a year he wasn't playing ruck. So instead of being at the breakdown for the tap he could push right up forward

For some reason though I think he will nominate west coast if he asks for a trade at all

That thought scares the shit out of me

I think this time of year is when the club should give out the least information possible. Weller going for pick 2 was at least in part the result of GCSs saying to him that they would do what it takes to get him, and then Weller mentioning that publicly. At the least it put them at a trade disadvantage.

CARLTON and Gold Coast will be given special "outside national draft" access to the top state league players as part of assistance packages signed off by the AFL Commission.

Under the plan, the bottom two teams from this season will be able to recruit, or on-trade, the state league players without giving up a draft pick.

It is believed the Blues and the Suns will have the right to on-trade the players they identify, in exchange for draft picks from other clubs.

While the AFL commission thrashed out the matter at today’s annual Brownlow Medal day meeting, it is understood full details of the assistance packages are still being analysed.

Both Carlton and Gold Coast will get access to at least one player each under this assistance package.

The Suns were hoping for permission to add or on-trade three state league players.

Similar to their startup concessions, if previously nominated for the draft they could be added to a list or traded to another team like we did with Mzungu and Faulks.

That would be a reasonable requirement
Kind of defeats the purpose. It was supposed to give them mature agers to help strengthen young lists
