While I would love the SA kids, Im back the Club to get the right players here, regardless of who they are.

The fact that we havent needed to do a Carlton is a testament to our ability to be astute at judging and selecting talent.

One of the few Clubs to have never won the spoon but to have won a flag. (FFS I think Port are the other)

Gee, it is a tough one. I just think if we can secure Luko or Rankine, there is going to be a real buzz around the club and particularly with supporters and it is very unlikely that either will be a flop so I think if we can trade up, it is the right thing to do for us - not so for port who have holes across their list and need volume of picks. In the end as long as we can end up with a top 5 pick we will get a beauty no matter what and that should still leave us with other picks in the teems / low 20's to grab a couple of top rated lads as well. Lets face it if we take 3 picks to the draft instead of 4 but have traded up into the top 5, it is almost a no brainer imo

#AFLTrades How can the likes of Brisbane compete when the best team of the past 10 years can receive an elite midfielder for pick 50 something and the worst team of the past 10 teams lose an elite midfielder (to reigning grand finalist) for pick 18.

Neale to Brisbane for Picks 5 & 32
Hogan to Freo for picks 5 & 23
May to Melb for pick 5

We then trade 8, 13, 16 & 21 and a player like Hartigan or Knight to GC for Picks 3 & 5 with a guarantee they won't take Lukosious with Pick 2.
We would end up with Lukosious and Rankine as the saints will take their man Max King with Pick 4.

They are currently 6 players down and have brought in Lycett, so they would need to fill 5 spots with two picks!

They will have as many picks as they have vacancies, by definition. It's just that those later picks will be in the 6th, 7th, and 8th round, which the AFL doesn't usually bother including when they list the available draft picks.

One part bad luck, one part the whole Scully trade is just weird.

I'd be super hesitant if I was Hawks. That whole trade feels like GWS is trying to dump a lemon on them.

Lobb and 25 for 11 seems a steep price to me. He just isn't the type of ruckman or forward that I dread us coming up against. Its a strange world where Scully gets you a pick in the 50s and Lobb gets you 11 with 25 going back.

And let Port get what they want? No way. I don't think we need Burton. Our backline is our strongest line. The fact that this deal helps out Port, tips a maybe to a hard no for me.

Not sure why the suns would do that when they want Luko and Rankine, my bet is if they take 5 for May they'll take Luko, Rankine and Rozee.

That's a world where players, contracted or not, can demand to be traded to the club of their choice regardless of what trade currency that club might have to spend. The rules need to be changed to allow clubs to trade contracted players wherever they can get the best deal for the club, with or without agreement from the player.

**** that... we dont want a lad with a knee so dodgy that if he injures it again it would end his career... imagine he does it next year and weve blown pick 16, and thus a chance to get a young gun, on him.

Too great a risk and we already dodged a bullet with Lever... with this factor, and after his form this year, hes nowhere near worthy of pick 16 anyway.

If the club wanted him they wouldve taken him instead of doedee in his draft year.
