We had an agreement to trade 11 & 17 for pick 2, to select schache in 2015. Brisbane pulled out at last minute

Schache had just had one of the greatest TAC seasons for a forward, breaking the record for most contested marks. He was a stud

And 11 + 17 was fair value then

Plug current picks into the equatio:

8+13 is well overs, but we might be prepared to do it.

8 + 21 is probably equivalent

13 + 16 + 21 is well overs, but I might even do that

Issue becomes is that 5 + 10 + 15 trumps us. And is probably enough, or close, to get 2 + 3.
A sobering analysis.

Astonishing to go 10 years without a miss really

(granted the last couple of years aren't certainties).

There’s a couple of things here

1. They aren’t all ogilvies
2. I think we often confuse good recruitment with good development

At the top end, everyone knows who the good players are. Shit clubs don’t draft badly (usually), they develop badly.

Does anyone really believe Rendell & Haggis would have such a good track record if their picks were put into Carlton or St Kildas development programme

So we would have essentially traded Milera and Doedee for Schache?

Good point. Nature vs nurture again, but assuming he was decent, would he be better than both of milera and doedee?

That's the big q with trading up.

I’m happy either way if we trade up or let Haggis weave his magic on 5 picks inside 25.
And so much for that mass exodus of players that some journo’s mentioned earlier in the year, Gov was the only one who wanted out after all that!

A lot of people are forgetting the influence of Alan Stewart pass and Heath Younie today. Paul Thomas is not bad in that role as well.
First, you pick the talent, then you develop the talent.

Crows are not into Rankine and Port are keen as mustard in him. Crows no.1 target is Lukosius followed by Rozee. I can see Port pushing for pick 3. Crows will attempt to get pick 2 or get pick 4-6 depending if port move up.

true, but we had a pretty poor record under Fantasia, compared to Rendell and Ogilvie and we've found a few handy rookies too

We are a club that has made finals 4 times in the last 9 years.

Or....
We made finals in 3 of the last 4. F knows why you chose 9 yrs - we dont have many players or staff from the first half if that period so how is it relevant.

So we go from anomaly to regularity.

Also if we didnt have an anomalous amount of injuries this year we probably wouldve made finals again

Taking it from regularity to perennially.

Urban Myth

Why do you say Urban Myth?

What Vader said was my understanding too and what had been reported.

Unless you or someone else has said so differently.

Not taking Pavlich then was one of the biggest monumental trade decisions mistakes we have ever made.

If I were Gold Coast I wouldn't trade any top 7 pick for any combination of picks 8+.

Their list has plenty of B-C graders but desperately needs top end talent. Desperately.

They really don't need to take a ton of later high picks. Nailing 2, 3 and 6 will set them up and begin their rebuild. They don't need to and can't take a bunch of later first round picks in their current position

With their development, they need more tickets not less in the lottery

He did, and Cameron's reply was "%$#& Port, we're not dealing with them."

This reply mysteriously went missing from Kornes' report.

Untrue.

What he actually said was “tony says hi, and Koch can shove his China trip and guernsey colours up as his ass. But sure, we’ll be doing those arseholes favours. Yessiree, that’s a priority for us. Helping those bitches out. We’ll trade 2 & 3 for pick 119 before giving those teal bastards a leg up. Oh and Tony says hi”

Not trade related. Just watched Ollie Wines kick the ball OOB in showdown. Captain material.
Just flicked over to watch the end of that showdown.

I'm backing in the skill of our side against theirs next season...
