Time.
Why would you make it easier for us to block out the match?

The wicket hasn’t looked all that threatening

Lmao you think our batting lineup can bat for nearly 2 days on a day 4 and 5 test pitch? One of the most ridiculous things I've heard all series. Warner and Harris will be lucky to survive 20 minutes, and our middle order has Wade Marsh Paine for christ sake.

If only we had a Jos Buttler to save us

fu** me I have heard it all. Until this test a dead rubber Buttler had made 130 runs at 16.2. Every time they needed him to step up he failed. Yet you won’t stop potting Wade Head and Paine. But we would take Buttler spare me

Buttler has a better batting average AND is a better keeper, so yea no shit he'd be an upgrade on Wade. Wade is a terrible test batsmen.

Well, no.

But I’d be playing it safe if I were Root.

We’re definitely not chasing it that’s for sure

You’re unbelievable pot all our lower order batsmen for averaging under 30 and then also say we would want to take Butler who averages 24. Yep okay

Buttler averaged 45 last year, his average is brought down by his last stint with the gloves a few years ago when he had no idea how to construct a Test innings.

That said he was having a lean run and on the verge of being dropped, this match probably saves him.

You just keep digging don’t you. Buttler has played the majority of his career as a specialist batsmen, Wade until this series has always had the gloves. It is well known taking the gloves hurts your productivity as a batsmen. Buttler is not up to test standard 5 first class 100s from 100 tells you that.

If we get thrashed due to another batting failure, there is an upside that the loss may actually prompt Australian selectors to actually pay attention to the fact our batting line up is literally Smith and Labu + 4-5 gorillas and make big changes for the summer.

Unlikely, but it's a hope from what is looking a dire end to this test match.

Talk to me when Wade has averaged 45 for a year in test cricket, or has a higher test average than Butler, either will do. Until then you're wrong and struggling to admit it.

He has made 5 first class 100s from 100 games shows you he still doesn’t know how to construct an innings in the longer form of the game.

Exactly. Buttler has had one good test match - this one. Aside from that, he has been useless. He's a one-dimensional one-day batsmen. The only times he has looked good is when he is throwing his bat at the ball, but that approach wont work in Test cricket in the long run, particular where he has to run down a total without throwing his wicket away.

Arguably both his innings this match was without the pressure of losing his wicket: 1st innings, the tail was rapidly getting out, so he needed to get quick runs. 2nd innings, theyre ahead by a mile, so has again a lack of pressure to hold his wicket. When he's had to be defensive, he's been relatively poor.

Again, a downside of Paine puttiing them to bat first. Killed any ability to get scoreboard pressure.
