Honestly ok with Bancroft and MMarsh coming in just to get some right handers in the side. Broad has has a field day bowling to out lefties.

Get stuffed with Marsh again! We’ve done this disaster before and we know what happens!

They should call Hussey, Rogers and Voges out of retirement. Those WA lads would decimate the poms.

You should talk about Marsh more IMO.

I’d not need to if we left him out of the test squad as he should be. He was our worst number 6 in our history we don’t need to go there again! It’s failed 20+ times...

So Warner should be left in the side to make another pair but Marsh shouldn't be given a shot after making runs in county cricket? Negged.

At least Warner has a very good test record. I’d not play either of them. Marsh is an ordinary (and I’m being generous) test player. He averages 25 with the bat and over 44 with the ball...Watson was Sobers like compared to this bloke. Needs to go back to Shield and get 1000 runs in a year then let’s Re-visit it.

While warner keeps making pairs for australia. Groovy.

Look if someone asked me any other day whether Tim Paine was a Test opener then I'd chuckle and say no he isn't. Given the performance of the actual Test openers in the squad, though, and Paine's technique which is solid, someone suggests it today and I say - hey, maybe. It's at least worth talking about, IMO.

Now Jimmy adds to the talk..

“We go to Australia and get pitches that suit them. They come over here and get pitches that suit them. It doesn’t seem quite right. I thought they were good pitches here against India last summer – they weren’t green seamers but I thought they suited us more than India.

The salt is delicious.

From a practical point of view, how can one team have pitches more suited for them when the two teams with largely the same strengths and weaknesses.

“We as a country or a cricket board don’t use home advantage enough. As I said when you go to Australia, go to India, Sri Lanka, they prepare pitches that suit them. I feel like we could just be a little bit more biased towards our own team.”

He must be delusional. Don't use home advantage enough? Does he not realise he has an average of 23 at home where pitches are tailor made for him, whilst it is 32.5 outside of England where he drops his head the moment things start a little tough for poor Jimmy.

England haven't lost a home series since 2014 (something which would be nice to rectify at the Oval) and have won 2 out of their last 11 away series since 2012.

Nice whine Jimmy. Shame the facts don't back it up.

Just read Steve Harmisons comments about Steve Smith along with Jimmys lament. Its a shame we dont beat the poms more often, seeing them squirm in their own ineptitude whilst trying to validate their superiority complex with the most flimsy of excuses is terribly satisfying

The current tally of 14-3 Australia's way over the last 4 series is pretty delicious though.

1. Harris
2. Nesser
3. Labushagne
4. Smith
5. Head
6. Wade
7. Paine
8. Pattinson
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazelwood

In:
Nesser - can't do any worse as a temporary opener, right hander & gives us an extra bowler who isn't a Marsh.
Pattinson - next quick in.

Out:
Warner - walking wicket for Broad, who is mentally shot with 3 consecutive ducks.
Cummins - well earned break.

Crazy that Burns wasn't in the squad to open from the opening test.

He’s done more for Australia than Marsh ever will

The warner situation is just embarrassing for australian cricket. Warner needs to be exiled for his own sake, to spare him the embarrassment of yet another duck. Let him sit out this test so he doesn't have to face broad again, and give him another chance during the aussie summer.

I’m all for this...but not for Marsh! Rather back Warner in than play a proven test match dud in Marsh. As I said I’d not play either of them.

Interesting the ecb has talked about reports of racist songs sung by the manchester crowd aimed at archer as well as homophobic chants aimed at others but it's been pretty much ignored by the bulk of the English media.

That's what I always say they maintain this delusion about their own behaviour because they just flat out deny it when it happens.

Based on Pat Cummins comments of being physically spent, I think Mitch Marsh probably comes into this side, but at whose expense?

I don't think they can drop Wade as they wanted to last test, based on the form of Warner and Harris.

Is Wade an option to open with Warner, with Warner on his very last chance?

For the one off test, I'm thinking:

Warner
Wade
Labuschagne
Smith
Head
Marsh
Paine
Pattinson
Cummins
Lyon
Hazlewood

Nothing ever justifies bringing in Marsh
