For the love of god please don’t over think this swans. Flanders should be the pick

Think it will, have a feeling we will look to live trade into the back of the second half of the first round and maybe take Kemp if he's slipping, but personally Flanders should be the pick at 5.

Have you forgotton what Mike Thatfatprick said?
"Can't have em all"........................unless you are Brown & Gold, Black & Gold or Black & White.
He's not fat; but I think he might "fit Patrick".

It was interesting to watch that’s for certain.

My impression was he’s implying to whoever our target is, that they’re our number 1 choice. I rather liked that, even though I’m annoyed we’re not bidding on Green.
So rather than selecting best available, we'll be selecting the best pick for us, is that correct?

He'll be an interesting one, and a player I have given up trying to place. Probably goes in the second round somewhere. One of Gold Coast's second round picks seems a reasonable punt.
I can't work out why he's sliding so much. It's like he's Worpel 2.0. Surely clubs look beyond the combine results.

I could see swans trading up a few spots for Gould. Not so much kemp given it is more difficult these days to establish a Melbourne boy amongst the group to avoid the going home factor, if he’s not playing. Especially with ridiculous 2 year set rookie contracts (draft capital should be protected better within the rules ie 4 and 3yr min for first & second round picks respectively)

I have him in the 20's in my list so it's not that far off. Just feel his size helps him right now, will that translate? Who knows. Second round selection he's a solid pick

Defeinately will be interesting towards the back end of the first round. There is a lot of teams that will want to trade up.

Just don't want to hear the words "And yet again the Swans have made the first surprise pick of the draft at 5 with ..."

This times 1000

Really don't need to overthink the first selection, pick a mid.

Kemp has more upside than Gould. More skilful, gets up and back. Higher ceiling. Maybe not enough to take at 5 but if they are both there at our second pick (whatever it is) I would hope we went Kemp.

Agreed, but I have zero doubt that we would take Green if we could. He's the perfect JPK replacement.

It is possible that we have given up on the idea of replacing JPK are are more focussed on more versatile players who can play as inside mids "part time". Flanders, Serong, etc are those types of players.

We should never have been thinking of replacing JPK. He's a legend of the club and what made him stand out was not his ability (as beastly as he is/was, there are plenty in the comp as capable in that mould as him), but it was his consistency. So you can get the prospect who plays more like JPK than anyone, but if he's not as freakishly consistent as JPK, then you haven't really come close to replacing him. I'd think our recruiting team is smarter than judging prospects based on a Kennedy scale.

Inside bulls are the most over-rated types in terms of importance to a team anyway these days IMO.

Maybe we go the other way....Under Twomeys phantom GC 15 and 20 picks translate to kemp and rivers (Gould as well but I’m overlooking him). Rivers can play and wants to play midfield but missed preseason earlier this year due to glandular fever, played 1st WA match with only 2 weeks training apparently and that’s why he played defence this year. So trading 5 for 15 & 20 Lands some interesting return....fits in with maximising picks....anyway good luck draft team...
Those two picks would probably get you 2 of Kemp, Rivers, Stephens or Rantall. What’s not to like about trading down?

If anyone can explain why Schoenberg is down in the 20s or even 30s I'd like to hear about it too.

Draft central seems to indicate he’s consistent without being truly outstanding.

I’m all over the place on this draft.

I’ve managed to convince myself we’re taking Flanders, Philp, Ralphsmith and Hilder if our picks don’t move. Solid rather than spectacular.

I can see us busting a gut to get something more in the 15-20 range though. I really like Stephens, Rivers, Rantall and they’ll all go in that range... well definitely before our 2nd. Will be hanging on pick swaps.

Ellam as a zone CatB.

Lord knows in the rookie... Cahill or Prior if available
