Yep Tadgh aside we've had a pretty poor record recruiting from Ireland (jury still out on COR)

Other teams seem to get their Irish guys in and playing relatively quickly

Recruiting from Ireland in general has a poor strike rate. More of a gimmick now imo.

For every 1 Irish player that makes a clubs best 22 I feel there are a half dozen or more who get swiftly delisted.

I think Murphy had what it takes to be a very good player. Unhappily I think the go home factor kicked in.

I would seriously consider trading Reid if we could get something DECENT for him at years end.

We’re our list is atm I think it would be a good move if we got something good in return.
Agree.

Hes never going to be any good. He reminds me a lot of Tippett the way he plays.

He misses his marks - then when he finally gets the ball he wants to spend as much time posing with ball on camera and ignoring all the quick options. Just so frustrating. Rarely gets it and when he does he takes an eternity to move the ball on.

Whoever our list Manager is must have a hard-on for tall good looking blokes who like Tarzan (but arent actually very good at football).

We should have traded Lloyd to Suns for pick 3 (or 6).
No brainer.

No way. I think he is being misused. Should be playing wing or half back. Maybe this is where the problem of playing McVeigh starts to bite.

Not sure he’d be worth a top 10 pick.

He shouldn't be worth a top-10 pick but given the position Gold Coast were in over the off-season, I think we could have made that deal happen. If Lloyd had wanted to go and sign a long-term deal (something which the Suns are really coveting from their players right now), I think we could have negotiated something like what they ended up doing for Lachie Weller the year before. Say what you will about Lloyd but he's a better player and had a better career than Weller by far. Gold Coast were desperate for an established player win of a deal in Weller and they would have jumped at Lloyd if he had said yes to them imo.

This is hypothetical of course but I think that would have been very possible. If our club was in the rebuilding mindset completely, that deal would have made a lot of sense: to trade a very good, but limited, player at the height of his worth for a very high pick to bring in a really talented young player as the club takes a step or two backwards. Goes against what the Swans do generally though.

Well I know but after they used pick 2 on Lachie Weller I thought anything was possible :)

I really wanted to package our first + Lloyd for their pick 3. Whether they would have done it is another thing.

I wouldnt rule out that horse....ugh i mean gamestyle is having a negative effect on the recruitment of players

Would you want to play under this gameplan? It’s so taxing and boring.

Not to toot my own horn, but I am about to toot it hard, but the guy I wanted to draft instead of Matthew Ling (Charlie Constable) just got a rising star nomination for round 2 with 31 disposals, 7 clearances, 4 tackles and a goal.

Glad we really don't need a big bodied inside midfielder.
