I really just don't understand. One of the top 5 most exciting players in the comp wants to come to us, and people are cracking the sads before the deal has even been done.

The length and $$$ value of the deal are the primary reason for determine compensation.

For instance if some idiot offered Reid a 5 year deal at $850,000 a year, we would get a first rounder immediately after our first selection in the draft (would be pick 6).

I respect the partner bit, absolutely, but then I lose a little respect because he was with the same partner when he signed the extension until 2023, which came before the 5 year offer of 600-700K from Carlton.
