If we can hold onto p5 n draft another good ball user (eg, Young), be immense. Can just imagine him and dawson running through the mid taking turns shooting bullets to franklin/daniher.

2 strikes
No dickheads
Contract too long
Hasnt been elite for years
Hawthorn dont even need him
Mercenary
Etc

Yeah but besides that, the size of the contract Franklin has taken up has squeezed out players in recent years and we've been resigned to taking dross on the cheap that have been in the system a few years to add depth when needed. It was ok with Franklin since we were competing for Premierships and a generational talent, but we're at a different point this time, a bit like 2009, and where we were known for being shrewd in targeting players we know can play at AFL level but just not getting a run or whatever. Like Kennedy, Mumford etc, and Richards, Bolton etc before them. Would rather that than another big money signing especially on one that has barely kicked a ball for two years. We need strength across the pitch this time to get us back up the ladder, not another salary cap hog since circumstances are different. Just my 2p

I figure the premiership window opens back up in 2 years time for us. At that point Daniher is 27. I'd say his prime and our next chance for a premiership line up pretty well. They also line up with the retirement of Franklin.

I think we do need to continue to find some more quality underrated players in the middle age bracket, but there is quality on every line amongst our under 25 players. I feel like the core of the next Swans premiership is already on the list.

You could be right, but I'd also like to say I guess is that we have to be careful not to overrate players on our list. Some might show promise, but they might not develop into the class needed to be a top 4 side. Whether that be the likes of O'Riordan, Rowbottom, Melican, McCartin, Clarke etc.

2 years might be a bit too soon for me since we'll need to bleed in replacements for the 4 retirees from this year and offset possible losses of Papley and Jones. Both of which will be huge losses if they leave since I think they're exactly the type we need to be part of our next Premiership side. Jones is our best mid and Papley our best small forward in my opinion in that u25 range.

i find watching is better than the stats sheet

you think papley is better than daniher? if all players were free and you had to pick one
I would take Papley by............................................................................................................................................the length of the Randwick straight

Joe only comes into consideration for me if he is fit. Which he isn't, and likely never will be again. So a direct swap is overs from my point of view.
Did Hanners play 3 games this year, or 4?
:'(
Anyway it's all a matter of seeing what they pay for him I guess. I understand Papley wants to move on, but I just can't see how the Don's let Daniher go for any trade that adequately accounts for the substantial risk factor involved in his injury.

Daniher and Bennell....great feckin plan. :weary:

More like people seeing into the past where he’s had a serious injury and has barely played for the last couple of years.

Considering the Tigers are playing a completely different sport to whatever we were dishing up this year, 2 years seems awfully optimistic

We have Rowbottom, Parker, Kennedy, Cunningham, Florent, Bell, Heeney and Hewett who can all play mid

Ling, Melican, Rampe, Lloyd, Allir Allir, Mills, O'Riordan and Thurlow play defense

Blakey, Dawson, Reid, Haywood, Buddy, menzel and Daniher can play forward

Ruck would be Sinclair and Naismith

Hannebery is actually a pretty decent comparison in what the two should be worth.

I just keep saying to myself, surely the people in charge at our club understand not to give up anything substantial for daniher ... surely they understand this .... surely .... They couldn't possibly be so stupid.

The mid problem is overstated. Jpk is still a good player, parker is a very good player.heeney is building, dawson has shown plenty, hewett was top 3 in the b and f and we have mills of coarse.

All the ingredients are there...just need to settle on a unit

i think its understated.

You need 10-15 senior bodies all capable of running through the midfield. We are a mile off.

It is massively understated. The Swans are 17th for inside 50 differentials in 2019 which is the stat that probably best shows how the midfield is doing, or close to it. Our midfield is not winning its own ball and when it does get the ball it has trouble moving the ball forward.

kind of dumb i guess.

seems more dumb to get caught, but maybe you are right.
I don't think it was the media that caught him out. My understanding is that they met at Harley's house and a few Giants players live nearby. They saw Joe leaving. Could be wrong.

Although I love Warwick and his mental behaviour, I am not him. Having said that, my wife did surprise me with his presence at my 40th. Very funny, somewhat annoying, that's another story. That being said Hayden Young. Hi Bigfooty!
LOL. What did the Wiz charge for the night? Asking for a friend.
