I wonder if you can ring up Ticketmaster on Thursday during our ticket purchasing window and talk to a real person whether you could then select a section/row rather than book online or if the old fashioned flesh and blood route is even an option.

Always 50/50 for finals games.

I doubt many would fly up when they can just see their team play the following weekend at the MCG.
Not quite 50/50, Gabba Members get first shot at tickets along with Lions members and the cricketers club is for their members only. We should have a edge is supporter numbers.

You guys will easily have the edge. Flights are now going around the 1k mark for melb-bris return. If we can get 6-7 k up there I think that’d be a good result for us.

Looking forward to being at the Gabba full. Only been once 5/6 years ago and was about 3 other people in my bay.

I posed the question, and she said it would not be advised.

Just got off the phone from the Bris lions membership and I was told.
When the time comes , from the ticketmaster Gabba venue map you'll be able to select seat category and click on a section and seat and book your tickets from there.
I've never booked seats online before, so I'm hoping that is the case.
The other option is to queue up at a ticket master office and get them there.

The AFL are such a pain in the ass re the way they have allowed Ticketmaster to do the distribution of these tickets, surely it wouldn't be too difficult for the state of the art Ticketmaster computer system to allow people to select their own seating arrangements, for F sake our species has landed a man on the moon.

Picking a category and that's your only option is ridiculous, we're going with category 1 and looking at the seat map we could end up being anywhere from the very front row to the very back, I hate being right down the front at ground level and knowing how these sort of things work out I could bet my right testicle that we'll end up in the front 3-4 rows.

I rang the club this morning as well because we have 3 September members Priority 1 access + 3/3 game child member Priority 2 access which provides ticket access in a later window to P1. The lady on the phone said to get our seating together we'd have to delay our P1 purchase until the P2 purchase window. Not going to do that in case we miss out, the kids will just have to miss out this time, we'll purchase September Memberships for them in 2020.

Ticketmaster/AFL couldn't give a shit about this because they know these games are going to be sell outs anyway so it's a suck it up situation for us supporters as usual.

Ticketmaster don't give a shit because it's more convenient for them - letting people pick their own seats makes Ticketmaster's life harder because of both single seats and extra backend work.

The actual venue doesn't care because Ticketmaster signs exclusivity contracts so they get extra money for ensuring there's no competition.

It's all a joke and it's not going to change because the ticket companies basically own the venues and the venues don't want to give up free money just for customer convenience.

Got a message from a W'Eagle fan in reply to my post there today;
You don't get to select your seat, you get what the website deems as "best available". The more seats you are looking for the harder it is (I have 4 memberships). The website is garbage when it comes to this time of year as that many people are attempting to get tickets. I've had two laptops and my phone up on the site, don't just rely on one tab being open.
I would note that "best available" isn't the only option, but it seems to be the consensus that seat category is as close you get to selecting anything.
You could ask for "best available" but that's really leaving in the hands of a ticket seller/AFL to assess what constitutes a good seat. We're all different, so no such thing as "best".
Thinking it will be a case of wait and see and take what you can.
If I end up with seats that aren't good enough, I don't think you can even sell them.

I'm confused now, we have a source at the club saying we should be able to select right down to the row and seat we want and another saying the category and that's it. I will reinstate my rant from above until we get a definitive answer which will probably be when the purchase window opens on Thursday morning.

I am angry along with you Jas!
The part above would be extremely frustrating.

I am an 11 game season member along with my 85 yr old Mother who is struggling to get around these days. So they really like to make things difficult!

The girl I was speaking to yesterday said to just click on best available and take them, or else you will miss out on the better seats!

This is stressful, as I have a priority 1 tickets, but everyone else in my group has a priority 2 ticket. So I have to wait till the release of group 2 tickets?
Yes.

OK people I have been trying to contact Ticketmaster for the last half an hour and the phone number they give you to talk to a live person (136100) just drops straight out, typical. So I looked through their FAQs and this is what I found, they make out they are doing us a favor.

Why can't I select specific seating online?
Most of the events that we sell have an interactive seating map, which allows fans to select their own seats online.
However, in some instances - usually because of high demand for the event - the interactive seating map is turned off to ensure customers are able to navigate our online purchase process as quickly and efficiently as possible. In these instances, our system automatically allocates the "best available" seating to each customer for the price category they have selected.
"Best available" seating allocations are determined by the promoters and venues of each event individually.
If you wish to purchase specific seats please contact Ticketmaster on 136 100.

That's rubbish FWIW. In terms of tickets sold the majority would be unselectable. Only in terms of there probably being a heap of tiny events that sell selectable seats is there "most of the events".

That's what I was told, but I wouldn't bet the house on it , but that is what she said.
I'm thinking at the very least you should be able to choose a section. She did say it was as per booking a ticket in the H& A season , so i would presume you can choose your seats during the h&a season. I'm a little old school I always renew and book tickets through my membership via phone call.
Maybe someone else can ring the membership team and ask, might get it confirmed..

After reading your "cranky" post, I'm not surprised you are!

Another example of why have things as simple as pos if it can be made difficult.

Good luck to you and to others trying for tickets.

Get the kids Victorian memberships next year. 5 Gabba games and all Lions games in Melbourne inc.

I can confirm after speaking to the Lions shop , that there will be only category choices not sections or specific seats online.
Also do it online and by phone and take whatever you get first, I'm unsure whether you can choose your specific seat via phone, forgot to ask that one.
It is a 50/50 split with Richmond members and they will have access at the same time.
What's left after our windows are closed , then the general public has their crack.
Good luck everyone.
