**Long post warning**

A lot of decisions still left to be made. 7 list spots to be filled.

This is what I would like to see happen, obviously depending on who lasts, I feel I'm being relatively realistic with draft positions.

DFA/PSD: Jack Martin, Jack Newnes, Sam Gray
ND: Lachie Ash, Trent Bianco, Kysaiah Pickett
RD: *pass pick*, Cam Wild (Cat B)
SSP: invite Harley Bennell and Josh Deluca to train for final rookie spot.

This is how the squad would roughly look. Great depth, flexibility and age structure in each position.

Just for the sake of the situation with Jack Newnes, I reckon if you guys give him the chance to play at Half back rotating onto the wing he can be really valuable for you. Up until the last two years Jack was probably one of our most consistant performers constantly getting over 20 disposals per game quite comfortably. Unfortunately in his wisdom Allan Richardson decidedi that as his form dropped a little bit instead of dropping him back and allowing him to get some form he continued to play him, but as a forward. Whilst there were games where he played ok he never really found form as a forward. unfortunately for him he was never sent back to HB where he played his best football. Richo persisted with the stupid wing/HF rotation. Its no surprise that his form continued to slump and he was never able to get back to his 2017 form. So in short if you play him at half back he will give you some serious gut running and penetration inaddition he is a great example to the younger guys

Great post!! Draft time always sparks debate.

Kysaiah Pickett would be a great pick up imo, but won't last until pick #43. I like the cut of his jib, reminds me of a Liam Ryan.

Just a thought...if the players we are targeting in the ND have already been selected before pick #9, should consider brokering a deal with GCS...our pick #9 for 2019 pick #20, and their 2020 second round pick (likely again to be pick #20 before all the academy picks etc). Possibly a 2020 3rd round pick coming back their way.

We pick up Pickett this year with pick #20, and in 2020 we package our two 2nd round picks for a 1st round pick...paving the way for a trade for a Papley or Wines given we'd have two 1st round picks.

So in 2019 we pick up Eddie, Pitto, Martin, Newnes and Pickett....next year we jag Papley and/or Wines with a few 1st rounders and some future picks.

Still a little surprised we moved on Kerr, given Lobbe left and Phillips was setting himself to go.
I know Kerr isn't a ruckman, but without too many talls sat up forward in the NB's, his role becomes a little more pronounced.

So at this stage, we don't have a genuine, CFC-listed, developing KPF, to front up at the Northern Blues......which is odd and leads me to think, we have someone in mind. Wylie Buzza maybe?

De Koning will have plenty of time developing his ruck craft next year with only three ruck-men on the books. This is a good thing.....but we must have some talls in play unless we've deemed BSilvagni to play a forward role in 2020 and onwards. We'll see.

They just didn’t rate him imo so no point having him on the list. Imo if a tall forward goes down they have about 4 better options then Kerr. JSOS as third tall, Casboult, TDK or play small. Better to move him on now and maybe pick up someone who slides or target someone next season. It wouldn’t surprise me that if by the end of next season we are looking for both KPF and KPD depth.

I get that, but it's looking very lonely on the KPF front for the CFC at the moment.
I take our VFL team seriously as when that's functioning well, overall development improves.

If Kreuzer doesn't play (and you know that's going to happen) one of Pittonet or TDK will likely be asked to step up, leaving the NB's forward line thread-bare in terms of KPF's. I don't think that's going to be allowed to come about and which is why I think we have someone in mind by way of a KPF. Just who?

i actually think this is the most balanced our list has been since SOS took over and that should translate well for the VFL side. I think Finbar and Cas will be the mainstay forwards regardless of rucks but yes we should recruit one either this or next year and this is another reason I don’t like us keeping players like Lang and Polson on our list because it gives us less options. (Also why I’m glad we moved on Kerr)
BSOS from the little I’ve seen looks best suited as a defender because he just hasn’t got the tricks or talent imo to make it as a forward. I imagine he will get another year regardless but both Macreadie and Goddard are two others who may struggle to keep there place next season.
By the end of next year it wouldn’t surprise me if all of Finbar, Goddard and Macreadie are delisted and KPP’s become something we are searching for again and possibly as a priority considering the age of Kruezer, Cas and Jones.
Also looking further into the future I find two things hard to believe and that’s that all of McKay, Weitering and Curnow will become A graders (Most likely scenario) but more importantly that if they do that we would be able to keep them all. They will all hit their prime together and if they are A graders will all get $1million plus offers. Plus you can guarantee at the same time Cripps and possibly Walsh will be getting similar if not bigger offers. It just can’t work imo so that’s a big reason I can see us looking for KPP’s over the next couple of drafts even though it doesn’t seem to be a need of yet.

Dylan Buckley delisted by GWS. I don't think we should draft him but I think we should get him back to the club to help develop our culture and also our social media. If he want to play football then sign him with bull ants.

He’s decinitely morale booster and adds a necessary degree of levity to the group.

The Flying Dutchman looks more like a forward/ruck than ruck/forward to me. BSOS looks equally likely at either end of the ground (whether he's good enough remains to be seen), and with Macreadie and Goddard down back I expect he'll be forward more often than not.

Id like to think bsos plays forward, for me he certainly looked more lively up forward

The noise from the club is that DeKoning is being groomed for ruck duties, first and foremost, although that can change.

I think this is what may come about, dependent on what we do in the DFA arena -
Should we not go down the path of talls, then Goddard and Macreadie take on the key defensive posts in the NB's (Johnson & Collins as back up) and BSilvagni gets developed forward along with a resting ruck-man, with Casboult involved at times.

There's less height overall but it may not be a bad thing for proper development of Macreadie, BSilvagni and DeKoning.
No more tucking Macreadie and BSilvagni into pockets and no more having DeKoning jostling for ruck duties behind Lobbe and Phillips.

Now you are talking. We have "enough" talls at either end across both grades. Let us also not forget that neither Matt Kennedy or JSOS are guaranteed spots in the top 22 and can offer up as tall targets up forward, particularly at the lower level..

The development of Ben Silvagni will be intriguing, as has prospects at both ends of the ground. May simply be decided by the effectiveness of Macreadie down back, or the mix we end up with forward.

I think we will run with the talls we have this year. As I have stated earlier a young ruck, possibly/probably Tom Silvagni and even possibly another KPP could well be on the agenda next year. A lot will depend on how well we "fill the gaps" this year.

Thanks for the highlights, looks like a really smart player and has good second and third efforts, actually reminds me a lot of Cyril the way he bounces around and the really quick hands and especially the really smart knock on to set up that goal very cyrilesk.
Could definitely have short bursts in the middle with those quick hands and nice side step or even in the back half as well, hope we can try and get a pick in the twenties or early thirties so we can be guaranteed of getting him, would be the perfect apprentice for Eddie to impart his knowledge, be surprised if he got to 43.

At least we should find out the 'potential' in Macreadie.
He goes CHB and gets the second best tall to deal with. Sink or swim.

The gap may have been opened up on pupose for ben Silvagni to be developed as a forward now.
Maybe that won't come about, but I somehow feel it just may given what we've done in clearing the tall forwards. I doubt though that JSilvagni nor Kennedy will be asked to spearhead the forward line, although Jack...maybe. Maybe because he now has the strength and certainly has the smarts to be left one-on-one. Maybe that would work. You don't have to be 195cm+ to be a key forward.....maybe.
