Still a little surprised we moved on Kerr, given Lobbe left and Phillips was setting himself to go.
I know Kerr isn't a ruckman, but without too many talls sat up forward in the NB's, his role becomes a little more pronounced.

So at this stage, we don't have a genuine, CFC-listed, developing KPF, to front up at the Northern Blues......which is odd and leads me to think, we have someone in mind. Wylie Buzza maybe?

De Koning will have plenty of time developing his ruck craft next year with only three ruck-men on the books. This is a good thing.....but we must have some talls in play unless we've deemed BSilvagni to play a forward role in 2020 and onwards. We'll see.
Nah. Kreuz will play all games, Pittonet will ruck all games in the reggies and won the List on and TDK will thrive as the primary target and kick 60 goals.

Cas will support TDK because Charlie and Harry will kick 60 goals each as they run riot in 22 games and finals in 2020.

pfffft....you sound very pessimistic about our prospects ;)

You've raised a good point though....post Krooz, Pittonet may become our bash and crash ruckman in the mould of Nankervis....TDK becomes the ruck/forward option.

Just for the sake of the situation with Jack Newnes, I reckon if you guys give him the chance to play at Half back rotating onto the wing he can be really valuable for you. Up until the last two years Jack was probably one of our most consistant performers constantly getting over 20 disposals per game quite comfortably. Unfortunately in his wisdom Allan Richardson decidedi that as his form dropped a little bit instead of dropping him back and allowing him to get some form he continued to play him, but as a forward. Whilst there were games where he played ok he never really found form as a forward. unfortunately for him he was never sent back to HB where he played his best football. Richo persisted with the stupid wing/HF rotation. Its no surprise that his form continued to slump and he was never able to get back to his 2017 form. So in short if you play him at half back he will give you some serious gut running and penetration inaddition he is a great example to the younger guys
Yeah your not wrong his stats for 16-17 are really good and then get patchy in 18 & 19 good to know thanks for the heads up.

I'm interested in how many purely inside mids people see us needing in the best 22. For mine it's just Cripps with a balance of support from inside/out and outside mids for balance. Grunt has become less important than speed on current trends.

How many A grade extractors do you think we need? How many weeks lost to injury or soreness per year from each - what does this mean in terms of depth? How do you match up against sides who have 2-3 strong bodied mids as on ballers? etc etc etc

You can have a strong bodied extractor with leg speed. When 50% of a match is spent with the opposition having the footy it's important to minimise the hurt factor. One purely inside mid is enough.

This provides great context. Our list is 2-3 years away from being at the beginning of our period where we SHOULD experience sustained success. If you can get 15 - 20 best 22 players in that 24-28 range which we will have you are setup. Then it becomes a matter of topping up with clever trades for role players and the occasional big fish while getting in 2-3 talented kids per year through the draft. This is why those so critical of SOS should sit down and wait until we actually mature. We won't be able to judge SOS until 2023.

Tell them to check their figures. Quick calculation shows 47 players. Clearly taken on last year inclusive of Bugg and Pickett. Has been a few changes and more to come.

Cripps doesn't miss tackles - a lot of so called faster players at Carlton make a profession out of it - poor argument anyway. I asked you how many weeks of injury to the lone genuine A grade mid we have are you prepared to risk? How many years off his playing days are you prepared to write off because he has done all the work? How much risk are you prepared to take regarding him leaving because he is tired of doing all the heavy lifting?

I believe we clean up if we get wild as just a cat b rookie.

I rated cameron wild one of the best kids in nab league earlier in the season. If we manage to pick up him as Cat B. It would be a steal. Would provide the mongrel we need to compliment Cripps/Murphy etc. hopefully the attention stays off him and we manage to rookie him.

I'm not saying we don't get Cripps help, we get him help with players possessing enough leg speed to spread and run defensively as well. You worry too much about Cripps, he'll be happiest in a winning team - can't protect him from himself.

I'm not worried about Cripps at all - I'm worried about the abundance of skinny runts who are so below AFL grade as far as midfield play goes that they were all shown up as incompetents by a first year player last year.

Walsh was actually the skinniest runt, just knows how to football. Leg speed and ability to win contested footy don't need to be separate things was the point I was making.

Thanks for clearing it all up for me - we don't need on ballers we need fast runners who can win contested ball - I'm cool with that - bring 'em on.
