I’m sure Bell and co have some awareness to where a Henry bid will come. Really we are talking Stilton and Melbourne and they know the bid will be matched. If they want to squeeze a pick from us so be it and we just have to wait to call their bluff. But what goes around will come around.

I’m hoping for:
Flanders/Stephens
Roberton
Henry bid
And ? Georgiadis
And the draft rookie butters

The Butters one could turn out like the Carter one last year. Concern that someone picks him up after our last pick in the main draft.

I think they will take three, then upgrade rookies holding our ammunition on butters. If someone bids we take him in the draft otherwise we hold a pick for psd or have an extra rookie.
I hope Butters makes it to Cat B but suspect his GF performance might attract attention.

I'd still like pick 105 or something just to be on the safe side.

The Henry bid seems likely between 8 and 13. Now if we trade up to say 6 with GWS because they can’t get any higher. Then if Henry is bid on around 8 or 9 the pts required will mean we go into deficit in 2020. Downgrade 10 slightly and upgrade 22 slightly. It is likely that the bid for Henry with 20% discount won’t cost much more and only drop the third pick slightly (if at all). For eg. If Carlton slide back to 10 and they bid at that pick we could match with pick 15 and the other pick we would have (ie 18) doesn’t change position at all.

So instead of going 8, 10, 24

We go 8, 10, 18.

Pretty much the same, but also would be very happy with Taylor as our pick after Henry.

Yeah I can't think of an NGA bid that looked over-valued, or made a team fail to match because it was too early. Pre-draft many on here thought Carter would go second round.

Seems to be an understanding, everyone has NGAs so don’t rock the boat.

Hope this is true and Henry’s bid comes after our 10 pick. A few after.

Tarryn Thomas. Bid on at 8 by Adelaide. 3.5 picks up on the average of Phantom drafters. By the week before the draft, it was expected that Thomas would go about 13.
Irving Mosquito. bid on at 38 by Essendon. Hawthorn didn’t match. 18 picks up on the average of Phantom drafters. 24 picks ahead of the phantom drafts from the last week.

So it happened twice last year,

Just as his supporters absolve him of everything.
I look forward to the day when neither side of the debate give a rats anymore.
That's a funny way of trying to move away from that guff, making it about sides and using fuzzy generalities instead of addressing specific points with logic.

S&C is ostensibly outside of Lyon's purview. If there's an argument to be made that he'd unduly interfered in that area it'd take more than gossip and feelpinion to be convincing is all. Particularly when Lyon repeatedly at every opportunity asserted that it wasn't his area and he'd left those decisions to the professionals.

That Mosquito one was hilarious, clearly Dodoro trying to shaft Hawthorn by bidding early then ended up eating it and taking a highly speculative kid with their 1st overall pick.

Josh Dunkley i bet the swans are kicking themselves for that one

On SM-G973F using BigFooty.com mobile app

I think Josh Dunkley was a deal done between player and Sydney. They arranged to pick him up only if a non Victorian team bid on him. So Josh used his father son status to manipulate the draft (legally) and Sydney agreed to this beforehand.

Lyon gets blamed for everything by that and many other posters. Im sure deep down they are finding a way to blame him for us not getting 6 for Hill

I think the bigger problem is Lyons interference with the building of Optus stadium, which led it to be too hard of a surface. Talked to someone who said he heard Ross had them pour concrete under the field instead of using dirt.

I heard he asked for there to be no grass at all and just play on the concrete

When a significant amount of the criticism leveled at him are so nonsense he gets blamed for other departments, then yes it would appear so.

Nobody here thinks Lyon is perfect and doesn't have shortcomings as a coach but like, construct better criticism.
Yep unfortunately theres some with opinions then others with agendas, it wasn’t hard to figure out which ones they were

How can i be wrong, all im saying is Henry being bid on before 10 takes the shine off the Brad Hill trade which objectively true? It seems like unless something bizarre happens and somebody bids on Henry way early we're taking him no matter what and its just a case of if its burning pick 10 or pick 22. If it ends up nobody bids on him early then its a totally moot point and everyones happy.
I’m objectively saying what if you’re wrong and Henry is bid after pick 10 will you applaud the trade? You stated that we “burn” pick 10 I disagree 100%. We win from this deal , you’re just taking the easy option of “I told you so” before the fact. I’m calling you out.

How about a mutual agreement.

I will 100% state I was WRONG if Henry is bid on before pick 10 stating we burnt pick 10 for the trade.

If not you state you were wrong and the trade was a great reflection of positive trade Freo and Bell did.

DEAL ?

I just want Henry in purple. We’ve got some investment there. And I Don’t care which pick we have to “burn”. It’s the draft. Some players are a deal and some you have to pay overs for. It all evens out imo.

For example, the Packers took a future hall of fame quarterback at the 25th pick of the draft (Rodgers). Basically, every team passed on him. And at the time the Pack had hall of famer Brett Favre on the roster and everyone thought they should have gone a different direction. They stuck with BPA draft strategy and it all worked out. Tom Brady was also famously the 199th pick. Every team passed on him five times. Now After a bazillion Super Bowl wins i guess you could say they paid unders for him.....

As long as we stick to best player available and use whatever picks to get LH it should be a solid draft class based on how even the talent seems to be this draft. I’m looking forward to draft day.

On the Melbourne board they claiming they told gws they want pick 6, 2020 first and another 1st rounder in exchange for pick 3, also saying they should threaten to bid on Henry at 8 if we refuse to trade with them, i think its best freo and gws work out draft night trades with each other, im sure they would prefer pick 10 and 2 2020 2nd rounders for 6 and their 2020 1st over what Melbourne are demanding

We just need to come out in the Media and say we will match any bid on Henry so bid away. Hopefully scare them off
