It really isn't
I think it is. Happy to keep Hill but I'd take two first rounders over the solitary number 6. It's not like we're going to have too much competition from the Eagles fighting for the local lads over the next two drafts and two picks in the teens represents more accurate value for a couple of the WA lads imo.

We can match the Henry bid at #12 with 1014 points anywhere. That's pick #26 and #49.

We have been given the chance to get a first round pick in Henry for a couple of much later picks. Nobody is trading #26 and #49 for pick #12 but we would have that win.

If we went in with #6, #7, #26 and #49 we walk out with #6, #7, #12 and #72

If we go in with #7, #12, #18, #26 (four picks), we walk out with #7, #12, #18 and #26

I don't think an upgrade of our last pick is worth downgrading the first pick out of the top ten.
That's where I strongly disagree.
I think the opportunity for Freo to get one extra player (<#30 draft pick equivalent) is worth more to Freo when we have to replace 8 players on our list.
My biggest worry in 2019 is how Freo are going to replace 8 players ... hence #12 & #18 is worth considerably more to me than #6.

I'd rather get the best talent and not the best local. Especially as one of those picks will just get eaten with an academy bid anyway. Hold Hill, make em squirm

12 and next years first is my guess. Probably a late pick going back the saints way.

Could be a massive win for us if the Henry bid is after 12.

Don't worry, I respect and understand your position on this.

I'd just prefer;
#2, #4, #6, #8, #60, #62, #64 and #66

over

#20, #21, #22, #23, #24, #25, #26 and #27

I'd rather four potential A-grade talents and four speculative later picks over eight less potential players but higher rated.

We don't have eight spots in our team but I think we can fit four more elite talents, if we were building a list from nothing then bolstering our depth with 2nd round picks is handy, I don't think we need to do that. I think our depth is already in our best 22 and forged with years of finding them from later picks, these to be dislodged by elite talent.

Melbourne 6 + 40 goes to GWS for their 3 +61 (allows GWS to get a player before Green bid)

Freo B Hill + 83 goes to SK 12 + 18 + future 3rd

Freo 18 + 26 + Langdon goes to Melbourne for 6 and 42

Upshot Melbourne have 18, 26, 40 + Langdon
StK have B Hill + 83
GWS have 3 + 61
Freo have 6, 12, 42 + future 3rd from SK

We go to the draft with 6, 7, 12, 42

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water just yet (I think that's how you use that?). It could be a better deal for us if they combine 12 with a future first or something like that
Which won’t happen. Saints trying to low ball us, ala West coast style packaging multiple first round picks not in the top 10.

You just compared 8 picks of higher value (8,157 points) to 8 picks of lower value (6,423). So of course I would also choose option A given those two, but that's not what I'm arguing.
Picks 12 & 18 are worth more points than 6 and you get the added bonus of 1 extra pick/player.
