I might have moved the "Lyon-go" group but I'll fight people who think this list is cooked.
List looked pretty damn good 5 weeks ago. "its never as bad or as good as it looks" and "a week is a long time in footy" ring incredibly true.
List looks like this to me:
1) We have our entire spine sorted for at least 6 years, provided that for once they stay on the damn park. Hamling, Pearce, Darcy/Lobb, Taberner, Hogan is a a top 4 spine if all fit and healthy. They are also all 26 or under.
2) The backline is sorted. Dont worry about the form of the last month or so, Pearce makes a big difference and they have defending against an avalanche of clean entries. Fit and healthy our backline is the best in the comp. An all-time back 6 couldnt defend against the tsunami they have been up against since we shat the bed.
3) Midfield is by far the biggest concern;
a) Lacks pace, losing Hill and Langdon could be devastating
b) Lacks depth; Mundy has to do to much which is a big contributor for the fall in the 2nd half of the year
c) Our best in/out mid is also our best fwd so cant spend much time there
d) It desperately needs another elite player (Kelly) AND 3 of Blakely, Cerra, Valente, Crowden, Sturt, Giro, Henry, whoever else we draft this year to go with AB and Tucker and thats without losing Langdon and Hill
Surely what we need is Brayshaw, Cerra, Tucker and Blakely to transition into midfielders rather than Bewley, Giro etc? Those four have been recruited and developed for that to occur, and the development time is right for it to happen. Bewley and Giro have given no indication that they are even AFL quality. We aren't replacing Hill and Langdon from the draft an improving though. That is a massive hole left if they both go. It is what it is though, so if it happens I'll adjust my expectations of next year.
Agree completely that we need to find bulk midfield quality from somewhere. We are at least 2 gun mids short (with Hill and Langdon) as you say. I think Henry is on top of that because his role at AFL will be outside and he needs more of a tank I think. We need Tucker, Bewley, Giro etc to step up next year to stay competitive.
Watched Zurhaar play on the weekend, this is the guy you need to target. His forward craft is first rate for a newby and would be a good fit into your forward half. Spewing our club missed him and if Hill goes to Victoria then trading with Norths for Zurhaar would not be a bad thing.
Can you define what you'd consider an elite midfield?Name a team that has ever gone close to or won a premiership without a close to elite midfield.
WC had their midfield rated around 14th or so last year when they won.So the list is basically cooked. Name a team that has ever gone close to or won a premiership without a close to elite midfield.
Taberner and Hogan have had major foot injuries two seasons in a row. Lobb has shown he can play in the ruck, Darcy is many years away from having a tank to be competitive. We still need a Sheppard type defender down back who can lock down on any type of forward.
In regards to the midfield, we are not getting Kelly. Fyfe is 29 next year. Hill and Langdon are gone. Tucker is a C grader at best and wouldn't get a game in any other midfield. So we have AB and reliant on Blakely, Cerra & Valente becoming elite. Laughable to put Crowden and Giro in there.

Not on the outside (except maybe Tucker) which is specifically what I was referring to with those boys.Surely what we need is Brayshaw, Cerra, Tucker and Blakely to transition into midfielders rather than Bewley, Giro etc? 1) Our best two KPP's are both very injury prone, and will more than likely continue to be injury prone.I might have moved to the "Lyon-go" group but I'll fight people who think this list is cooked.

I am still trying to figure how Brisbane are that much better this year than last...yeah Neale has been fantastic and so has Lyons Zorko and McCluggage. Robinson Rich and Berry too. How does that best seven compare to ours week in week out. I think we are a couple of A's shy.
Taberner is the least talented but Cox is no guarantee to overtake him (I thought he would this year although that was before Lobb and Hogan). How do we fit Taberner, Hogan, Cox, Lobb, Darcy in our best 22? If not, who do you trade?
I think at most you can fit in 3, and ideally you trade at least one out.
I know this year we needed all of them, but the injury list that occurred this year is unlikely to be repeated.
Would you trade both for a 2nd and 3rd round pick?Taberner is the least talented but Cox is no guarantee to overtake him (I thought he would this year although that was before Lobb and Hogan).
They are happy and united.
Their young early draft picks are all another year older and starting to become much more consistent.
Fagan is a good coach and has created a good environment and culture at the club.
Their list is reasonably healthy.
They have depth and use it to create a competitive environment.
Hodge has no doubt learnt on the job and taken on more leadership both on and off the field.
