And nothing to show for it. Wants charity.

He does have a point but he revers a club that relies on poke revenue to survive.

He was moving to us until port people convinced him to wait until they come in.

That turned out well.

I don't recall reading the bit where he's asking for charity.

He probably earned a few million playing football and possibly at least half that in sponsorship. As a result of his dedication and hard work as a footballer there is numerous well paid jobs available for hin.

Mckeod is a prime example of the opportunities of working in his community.

As pointed out you pay managers for the things wanganeen is asking. Wanganeen would of payed at least 200 grand to managers in his playing days.

Now. If we're talking about all the Indigenous kids who don't make it. Only last in the system a few years. Then what wanganeen wants is more than appropriate. But using his story as an example to get these things is not.

The dude who was running it was conning everyone. I recall reading him saying he'd be able to pay a ton of money to Pavlich to get him to come back to SA for example.
It was BS as he never had a product to sell. It was a complete scam which he sold by sponsoring sporting clubs to convince the world he had something of substance. Was never going to end well as was nothing to actually sell.

He wasn’t on his pat malone, was he? Roo our “saviour” according to some, sunk a shitload into it.
Indeed, so many gullible people. If you heard what they were selling at the time, it was just too good to be true.

Bit like the guy who offered to replace my roof solar panels for free as had a special government scheme. Told him he was dodgy too & reported him.

When ever I hear someone say “it is too good to be true”, then generally it is.

I think there’s a difference between an agent that earns commissions on negotiating contracts and an advisor that tells you how best to invest your money.

Whether it’s allowed to be said or not, aboriginal culture places a lot of pressure and shame on people to share their money. No doubt lots of non-aboriginal people have their attempted hangers on as well, but not to the same cultural imperative. This is where guys like Wangas can really help, not just after playing days but during as well. Liam Jurrah threw away a career because of his family’s fighting that they wanted him involved in. Maybe Jurrah makes that choice anyway, but an aboriginal support network may have kept him in the game. And the reality is that if these guys have long careers and invest wisely, they’ll be able to do much more for their family/community compared to having wasted it one way or another during their career.

Family is more important than a game run by corrupt and mostly racist White people. Jurrah made the correct decision. If the afl was serious about racism people like eddy Maguire would be alienated. And shamed for thier deeply Bigoted views.

Yeah....here we go ....all white men are racists.....which is why Collingwood only draft white players....oh wait.
Back in the day comedians used to tell jokes about a Englishman, Irishman and Aussie who walked into a pub - SADLY those days are gone because a small minority of HUMANS have no sense of humour and access to social media to vent their insecurities.
I’d bet my left and right testicles Eddie is not a racist....just an idiot.....and they too come in many colours.

Do you have to soil every thread with your obsessive ranting....

Someone mentioned he’s been through a divorce.
I think this answers the question.

Still talking shit I see.
Maybe you could have chosen a better New Years resolution.

Look seriously, are you this much of a ****head in real life? Please tell me this is for show, I would still think you a supreme knob but it’s disturbing to think this could be the real you.

Generally and I'm talking generally, footballers aren't the smartest tools in the shed when it comes to matters financial - they know how to play football. they are very good at that but the problem is they are susceptible to individuals who will take advantage of them financially or advise them because they put their trust in them.

Yeh, rubbish, Liam made a poor choice that benefited the family’s moment at the expense of the greater community good. Had he continued his career there’d have been much more resources to have been able to benefit his family. You literally have NFI and you’re actually a racist.

Not just footballers but it’s definitely a magnified stuff up when you finish a career having earned $4m in a few years and walk away with a $500k house. But simple reality is that nobody cares about Joe/Jane Average on award wages who could save more and invest better in their future.

Exactly. Constant humbug. Culturally imbedded.

Well obviously that’s true.

Don’t assume the original poster knows the difference though
Care to explain the difference?

In your explanation can you put it in the context of the relationship the AFL player has with the agent/manager and the way the dynamic works within the confines of that relationship that defines it as agency rather than management.

Please and thankyou.

Player agency and wealth management

Funny how you choose to drop the words player and wealth. ;)

So transparent, so low rent. 😱

I dont think you have ever provided an answer when I have challenged you. Just give an insult. Which is rather "low rent".

Is your name Jason. You remind me of a guy I know. He has a high IQ, constantly tells us all how smart he is and belittles us. Even to the point of deriding our careers. When challenged after he tells us we are wrong, he never backs it up with why we are wrong. Never "educates" us.

However Jason works at Coles. He is 27 and has worked at the same store since he was 15. Jason isnt even in management and only works ten or so hours a week (he is a casual) and I believe he merely stocks the shelves. Jason does not have a driver's license or even a forklift ticket.

Yet this guy constantly derides our "intelligence" and speaks as like you do. Hence I enjoy goading you about "educating us" whe you tell me I am wrong. Your retorts when challenged amuse me greatly. Yes it is a form of bullying, I admit that. But what makes it more amusing is how smart you seem to think you are and yet you fall for it.

Every. Single. Time.

FWIW the simple.answer to my question is that it appears many AFL player Agents mearlyl act as a go between (an Agency relationship) for their clients in dealing with the clubs and other entities (player sponsorships) to get contracts in place.

I mistakenly thought these guys were managers in that they also assist with other aspects of their lives both financial and non financial. It seems there is that service but not all players take that up.

BTW we had a BBQ yesterday with the boys. Jason was there. He was a bit left out though as we were talking about our recent trip to Fiji the rest of us went on and then started discussing our next trip all of us will go on. He cant afford to go. My 14 month old son has a passport and been to more overseas destinations than Jason ie one.
