When you look at next years list not a lot of money being freed up, Most are on Average to below-average pay, and the ones on higher wages are keepers in Brown, With B Crouch and Milera looking to get large increases
2021 is when we need some money, M Crouch, Liard, Smith all Restricted free agents. Along with Fogarty, Doedee, ROB, and maybes in McAdam Stengle, The big money being freed maybe Tex, Gibbs, Lynch, Talia, the rest are average to below-average payments.
2 part plan when you consider that Tex , Lynch , Talia and Gibbs will be cleared after 2021 and we can make decisions on Laird and Smith .
We have freed up over 2 mill per year with this clear out and considering Keath and Greenwood were offered 3-4 year deals we did what we had to .
It is the position we put ourselves in with silly long term contracts to ageing players but we have made the necessary moves to remedy this .

Yes, it will make a difference. But how soon. I think it takes some time. We will be seeing quite a few players go from pretty much 0 games to say 10-15 games. All at the same time.

Think it takes some time. We see young, talented but inexperienced teams in the AFL every year. They are usually bottom 4. It’s just our turn imo. Can’t wait either. Looking forward to seeing these young players next season.
No as much time as some believed, by 2020 all those 1st rd picks have been on our list for more than 2 preseasons, Fitness is not a big issue with them, Ability was never a problem, playing them was.
Those bottom 4 teams with all the talented kids also don't have senior and middle age talent to help them, don't forget the Crows still have a reasonable spine, of experienced players.
The biggest issue we have next year that will determine where we finish is depth.

Not Adelaide related but does anyone else find it absolutely insane the amount being paid for Brad Hill? Massively over rated as a player and they've paid overs even based on how good he's meant to be!

The funniest part was when Nick Dal Santo said on Fox with the straightest of faces that Hill is the equal best winger in the comp with Andrew Gaff.

Not that easy, with Tex, Lynch, Tex and Gibbs, reducing the Cap increases come from M Crouch, Fogarty, Doedee, then there a possibility that MacAdam, Stengle, and Butts rise in value along with whoever we pick up this year.

We cleared over $2 mill this year to use for this plus another $2.5 mill minimum will come off the books post 2021 to utilize also .
It is pretty simple , we took the first step in clearing older players from our books so we have the space to operate accordingly .

Fitness wise maybe they have had a couple of preseasons. But we will pay the price of our selection policy of not giving them any games. They are all behind the 8-ball because Pyke has never missed an opportunity to NOT give these kids an opportunity.

As good a players as I believe some of these guys will end up being, they won’t be that level in their first 10-15 games. Likely they will be liabilities, which is why Pyke has preferred Mackay, Douglas, Otten, Sauce, etc.

Surely we’d use up all the cap space we are clearing. (I don’t believe he’ll come at all) but even if Grundy came he wouldn’t be on the books until 2021
If I’m correct you can roll cap money over for a max of 2yrs. I think Grundy is 50/50 at worst. He said it himself, he’s from here so is his partner, his brothers and both their families. Bring it on. We’ve been fleeced for years but we’re about to get some...

We will have extra Cash, but not a huge amount the Vics will see to that with huge money grabs for some of our players.
But don't forget most of those key players coming out of contract are currently under 400K and will jump to 500 to 600K some even higher.

Who on our list is going to get massive offers that we want to match ?

This is the thing. Brad Crouch isn’t worth $900k x 5 years. If weare going to pay that kind of money, make sure they are that level of player. Problem is everyone is so sensitive about losing players back to Victoria that the club pays too much for players that aren’t worth it.

Should have let Sloane and Lynch go on their last contracts. Should have let JJ go to Brisbane. Doubt we have learnt our lesson.

Some of these Kids played leadership roles in the SANFL, they took on the hard jobs and preform well,
and few of the Kids are passed the 10-15 AFL games, only McHenry has not played. Gallucci 27, Doedee 21 Fogarty 14, Jones 8, McHenry 0,
Problem was 4 of them suffer injuries dropping/keeping them out of the AFL and the selectors somehow refused to play them after they recovered for long periods.

Not worth 900k but he worth about 750 to 800k which is a jump in his current contract.

Keath and Greenwood would disagree with you here

Wow, Doedee has only played 21 games.

This kid is going to be good

B Crouch, Milera, M Crouch, Liard, Smith, Doedee, maybe ROB and Butts, in the next couple of years. then there a possibility that MacAdam, Stengle hit the big time. while Fogarty, Jones, McHenry are on a small coin.
The most important thing the club needs to address is the culture , once that is corrected it will provide more equity in players wanting to stay .
If someone wants to overpay for Laird or Smith ( both contracts end of 2021 ) coming into 2022 then i have no problem letting them go .
I doubt Stengle and McAdam hit the big time as in massive contract ... if they are showing that could be a possibility we can sign them early .
If we treat Fogarty , Jones , McHenry and Butts well and they develop they will still not be costing us what our top tier are getting now .
That leaves the Crouches , Doedee , Milera and ROB ... we can work out their value and what we are willing to pay when contracts are up .
Brad will get paid , Matt , ROB and Doedee are signed until end of 2021 , Milera is out of contract at end of 2020 so next year this will be addressed .
We have given ourselves flexibility to rebuild the list appropriately for the first time in many years , it is a good place to be .

yeah. Doesn’t tell me anything. They were never part of the in crowd. What did Keath have to do to finally prove he was better than Hartigan. Quite a few fans on here took a long time to be convinced. It was frustrating times. Hugh was the same and basically had to wait till Thommo’s legs fell of before he got a look in iirc. Neither of these guys seemed to know the secret handshake. Neither did Lyons or CEY.

CEY was hanging out with Brodie Martin too much
