My big concern at the moment is that if I was a desired coach of any description (Head coach, assistant, etc...) there is NO WAY IN HELL I would come to the Crows. The entire club is an absolute mess. Pyke's time could be limited. Campo refuses to go anywhere and hence there are limited pathways, your other boss (Burton) is a complete idiot and they are all protected by their mate in Roo. Then you look at those who did come in from outside the club and see what happened there - Teague, Francou etc... I can guarantee they aren't speaking in glowing terms...

The only way the club can move forward is to completely remove the stain on the club and it has to be done roots and all. Otherwise we will be left picking up the scraps of coaches no-one else wanted for a long time.

Young players at our Club should also really ask to be traded.

If the status quo remains, Pyke will continue to back the boys in. ie. No room for kids.

Yep, the AFL industry is small. No one of quality would come to our shit show and that’s why we get slops

This plus the fact that they can't move all of them on at the same time. At least some of the rot will stay.

I think after 2 years out of finals, Pyke and co will have to accept that it's time to play the youth. There were signs of that this year with Jenkins, Gibbs, Betts, Douglas, Jacobs, etc spending time in the SANFL. And with Douglas and Otten retiring (so far), and the likelihood of Jenkins, Jacobs, Greenwood, Keath and possibly even Mackay heading out the door too, a lot of the go-to safe-selection options will no longer be there. We'll be at the point where they are literally forced to pick some of these kids because we won't have 22 players to run out there on the weekend with the old favourites gone.

That said, I fully expect the club to now go rummaging through the delisted free agent dumpster out the back in search of some washed-up, 28-30 year old has-beens (or, more likely, never-weres).

Rumour has it the board met quickly last night and decided Pykes fate there and then!

Expect an announcement from media journo's by 10am
So none the board members were at the game in Ballarat, not a single solitary one?

Even though those guys spent time in the SANFL, largely what the club did was swap one past it player for another. There wasn't a lot of playing kids in their place...

WA mate sent me a trade that just got put up on Perth radio as a possibility

Crows trade: Pick 3, 26 and a 2020 4th rounder
Crows receive from Fremantle: Pick 6, Brennan Cox, Stefan Giro and Ryan Nyhius.

Fremantle want the highest pick possible to get Tim Kelly. Giro

We played 36 guys this season, but 4 of those players (Poholke, Wilson, Stengle and Davis) played 2 or fewer games.

So pick 3 and 26 for a worse first rounder and some spuds.

Terrible trade

Someone said on Twitter that they hoped there was more smoke to the Kate Ellis rumour. I haven’t heard it, thought someone else had.

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Could only assume the one about a race between Ellis and Fellow to be the Crows first Chairman.
You are flat out bulls**tting mate, and it’s pathetic.

COMPENSATION

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.
Thanks for the laugh cannot thank you enough.
you do understand I used that very same article as a guide when determining the level of payment, its easy to find, even mention it a few times. But I also understand that the AFL has deliberately avoided letting the clubs know the compensation formula, in part because of concerns that it will be manipulated, so I take that article with a grain of salt. and only use it as a guide.

Do you know how they assess the points for the player, How much a top 10 player is worth and how Champion data come into the picture?
The difference between a 1-year contract to a 2 year, and just as important the difference between 2 years and 4 year contract.
Did you know and how the points for Age are calculated, and that they are added to points scale and not subtracted.
ie there is only 12 points given for age 25/26, a 30-year-old will get 2 points,
What about the importance a player was to the club he is leaving.
All this is roll around into a formula and the player is then assessed on where they stand repoints with the rest of the comp.

For example, a player at 26 starting with 100 points as top 10 players at his club, who is also rated elite in his position, with a 2 year plus contract worth more than 700k flat (believe it is still 700k may have changed) he does not lose any points and gains 12 for his age, would be in the top 5% bracket on points that is Level 1 compensation 1st rd pick.
Even if that Player is rated Above Average he may gain extra points which elevate him to the top 5%. = level1.
A player at 30 who is a top 10 player at his club, rated above average in his position, with a 2 year plus contract worth 500k flat is generally in the 15 to 30% bracket = level 3 compensation pick. 2nd round.
It's the points they gain added to the champion data ranking that count.

Restricted free agents are top ten players at there Club, the Club they are moving to determine their contact status, their age determine any extra points, Champion data determines there ranking in the AFL,

So if the rumours and only if the rumours are true, then a 31year old (= 2 age points), restricted free agent meaning top 10, who is still regarded by Champion data as above average, on a 500 plus 2-year contact (again if rumours are correct)
that should put Jabob in the 15% - 30% bracket

Just for further info, the percentages are where a player sits after the AFL has calculated all there Points,
Level 1 = 5%
Level 2 = 5% to 15%
Level 3 = 15% to 30%
level 4 = 30% to 50%
Level 5 = 50%

Don’t know that Brennan Cox is a spud, but agree wouldn’t do that trade

Maybe spud is a bit harsh for Cox.

But given Giro and Nyhuis have zero trade value (and we're giving up a 2020 4th rounder) that means Cox alone must be worth 26 plus the difference between 3 and 6.

So far, Cox's claim to fame is kicking 4 goals against us. Done not much else; fairly average player. There is no way in hell he is worth that currency, maybe a pick in the 40s, but not 26 and a first round downgrade.

As for Giro, we could just play McHenry and as for Nyhuis, we could just continue playing Kelly or try out a Hamill type. Zero need to trade for either.

Yep whilst I didn’t buy the Pyke sacked story, surely the club has to have a press conference announcing the review and providing some details.

Unless we don’t want the media there and will just ask ourselves the tough questions
They Should base on Champan comment that an announcement would be made following there last game. re there review
And yea doubt there going to sack the Pyke before the review, (quickly looking at the net to make sure an announcement has not happened)
The review could lead us to a Clarkson, Thompson, and Hardwick situation where they kept the coach while giving them a better support team/system.

Is this the equivalent of us trying to package up spuds to the GC this and last year?

The only player I know is pick 6. Fyfe for pick 3 and it may be of interest. Too old anyway. We need youth. So forget that as well Freo. Give Geelong your pick and a player.

They don't need pick 3 to lure Kelly, Kelly couldn't care less what picks they have. They just need him to choose them as the destination he wants to go. Then 2 x first rounders get it done. The difference between pick 3 and 6 is irrelevant let alone the junk players.

If Pyke leaves who is availible that will want the job?

We are on edge of rebuild with a boys club top end & its well known a fish rotts from the head.

The only thing to save the club from a decade at the bottom will involve spending money and taking major cold risks

We dont do this as a club, we take the bubble wrap methodology.

When you mean put up on radio, is that someone reliable saying that’s the intel, or someone calling in with a PlayStation trade?
