If only the Crows showed as much fortitude. Bet you nothing changes at the Boys club though. An internal review conducted by Burton and Champman should ensure everyone keeps their position and they will back the boys in. Good on you Fremantle for not accepting mediocrity.

So Caro is suggesting Port have asked players to take pay cuts this year to fund business operations. Not to make Cap Space for recruiting a player. But to keep the business profitable.

Now that is bad enough. However the AFL fund the salary cap (it is not earn by the clubs is normal.operations but paid to them by the AFL), guaranteeing the players get paid regardless of the financial situation of the club. So Port are basically using this AFL funding, that should be used to ensure.players get paid,to post a profit this year, according to Caro.

If any of this is true KT and Kochie should be sacked. It is maladministration. If Caro is correct.

Anyone still look at their club as a better ran club as ours? China lol

I'd take Ross as defensive coach

Lots of expectations that Giants don't match on Cogs. Paton will be a Scully style salary dump, Cox won't cost more than a packet of chips and the rest are wants, not necessarily will happen. They think if they get Whitfield to agree to come over they'll trade this and next year's 1st rounder for him.
Have the hawks used a first rounder in the last few years or has that rule been pushed aside for the moment?

I'm actually shocked Ross Lyon has remained in a job for so long.

His defense-first game plan and mismanagement of young players is a disgrace.

A classic "too good for H&A, not good enough for finals" coach, like Neil Craig. IMO they're the worst type of coach because they linger like a bad smell with no success to accompany it, because they're always close enough but will never actually get there
Not good enough for finals?

Ross Lyon made 3 GFs, which he lost by 12, 0 (then smashing), and 15 points. His 'not good enough for finals' plan resulted in 5 prelims for 3 wins and a smashing of Geelong in Geelong when his team was clearly screwed over by the AFL.

Yes he fell off and probably held on to his older players too long, but Neil Craig wishes he was Ross Lyon.

You spend a minimum of 95% of Cap but can stock pile that cap space and I believe must spend it

What is Caro talking about, the cap must be spent you cant spend it elsewhere
I believe the implication was that the players' salaries are counted to this years cap, but they won't actually receive the money until next year in order to make the financials look better.

2 minor premierships for 0 flags. His game style is good for H&A games but not good enough to win the important finals

He has survived for so long in the industry because he's a "nearly" coach. Not a successful coach.

So I got told the goss on Lycett a bit more. Blow up between him and Hinkley was cause Lycett got in an argument with Hinkley about how poorly they've been doing this year. Hinkley had words back and then Lycett made a comment along the lines of "well if you don't fix it you won't be here much longer" and talked about Hinkley's trigger clause for 2021, which is what sent Hinkley over the edge because he thought none of the players knew about it. Apparently it was revealed to Lycett prior to him signing to get him over the line ("don't worry, if it doesn't work out Hinkley is gone by 2020" type comment) and Hinkley was massively pi**ed this was the case and dropped him cause his nose is out of joint about it. So Lycett has gone "f this" and both aren't on speaking terms now. GWS and Essendon are the only two teams who've looked at him so far, for obvious reasons on both sides.
Luckily both aren't on long term deals then!

Yes but why haven’t we told any of our players they don’t have a contract for 2020 - have the tough conversation if you have got any balls. We must have a administration of eunuchs!

Just because nothing's been announced doesn't mean players haven't been told.

Some might want to get on the front foot, announce their retirement and get chaired off; some might want to slide away quietly after the season is done; and some are keeping their options open for being picked up by someone else.

It’s pass the hat around so we can afford to sack the coach.

Ross is similar to Travis Cloke. In terms of coach and player comparison.

Ross had a style that was defensively minded that he had great success with. But as the game evolved and nearly every team tightened up their defensive structures with zones/ presses etc that advantage Ross once had is now gone. Which left him behind the 8 ball with offensive styles.

Similar to Cloke once zoning off and understanding all back 6 cover off for each other the game become something Cloke couldn’t deal with because he was so strong 1 on 1.

All in all great for 60% of their careers but it all eventually gets away from you if you pigeon hole yourself into one specific style.

Does Ross collect fivers?

Except Travis Cloke won a premiership and Ross Lyon did not 😂

So what does Harper do if it’s not football related?
Some of its is Football related ie some media work, but its not cover in the AFL Football Department Cap. Not all Football relate work is classed as Football Department spending.
Would you class the Crows show as part of the Football Department?
Football Department is basically hands-on Football and fitness type work,
Also the AFLW payments are separated from the Cap, So the more they get the medical and fitness staff to cater to the AFLW and Bite the less they count under the AFL Football department cap.
