Whatever that means. Enjoy the off season - sounds like Xmas at your place would be a bundle of fun.

What it means: Spelt out.
You claimed that it was OK to pay a huge amount for Hill, because he was the best player up for trade apart from Kelly.

My analogy , which most people would have realized.
Is that Hill is worth nowhere near as much as Kelly, but we are paying close to what the Eagles paid for Kelly.
Hill is worth what he is worth, the presence or lack of presence of other players getting traded to other clubs doesn't change it.

What do you think of the chance of Jones playing midfield in a team that doesn't have Kennedy, Parker and Hewett?
But they played him in there at Sydney to not much affect.

How do you see the midfield lining up with him at the saints?

Tbh I reckon it's Steele Ross Hanners. With Clark getting more time in there. Jones/Gresham/Sinclair getting some time. Dunstan could be a round 1 starter. I know he's not great but as an inside mid he could be seen as the better option.

Not sure why people are comparing Acres and Jones. Two completely different players.

Acres and Tomlinson is a closer match - genuine utilities who don't shine in any particular position

GWS compo for Tomlinson - Pick 40

Problem is you can't compare free agency to trade value. Compo is always less than a trade now.

I look at Jones for one thing - pace. If we are going to play Carlisle, Howard, Wilke and Battle in the same backline, then you need real pace to add to that. I can see one side of the ground reading Jones/Hill/Butler - that gives us the very potent ability to move the ball very quickly from defence to attack. Acres does not give you pace.

So who does Jones push out, Savage or Roberton? Coffield?
Hardly a role that was a weak link needing a trade to fix.

I don't think Jones plays as a full time mid, but he has something that noneof those guys listed do. Pace.

We are the slowest midfield in the comp without Stuv.

People think Jones can't win his own footy because of his contested numbers, yet when he does play midfield his contested numbers are pretty good.

I am concerned if we need a salary dump... same if it’s freeing up a list spot when you look at the bottom 10 of our list.

Not sure why people are complaining about Acres looking at 500k... Bonar is a 400k player next year after 2 average career games.

With Acres being sent so late for a medical says we’ve been played by Bell IMO.

I don’t mind the club having a crack and shaking things up, but these moves mean that we will need to be playing finals straight away, a lot of expectations will be put on the list to perform. Fingers crossed.
Less of a salary dump because we desperately need the cap space, but if we can get that money off the books for someone we see playing a lot of AFL next season, then its a good move. Could allow us to renegotiate some contracts to clear 500k going into next season to help u get someone next season.

I would think Savage. But I don't think it is the role, I think it is the pace, something we have lacked through the middle for many years. It is the ability to break lines and catch the opposition off-guard.

Yes if we can get a gun free agent to come it will make sense... hopefully a Whitfield type is already thinking about an offer.

Oh well

I'm over it now
Most people have talked sense about blake, 6 years and never stepped up big time
Sorry to see him go but FMD I want flags, multiple flags in my lifetime

Joff hit it on the head earlier
We need change, and need it now

Pain is short memories are long
Hunter new Goat

Now, get these bloody deals done, lets get all 5 that nominated us to the club and smash into a pre season

Is it march yet??

Yeah don’t see it that way , more about having money for next year for a go at kids like

Caldwell & Briggs

Don't Jinx Hunter with that title.

D Mac the new Goat.

I think Papley will fall over if Daniher is a no go too.
I think it'll still go ahead for pick 9 and something back with Paps to Carlton.

But it'll be the last trade of the day.

Swans keen on getting Daniher next year as a DFA. Not a necessity this year - the ground work has been done.

Colin Young just got acres 2 more years he otherwise would not have got

He's done well acres for what his actual output is

I worry how much we are valuing our own stock vs the incoming stock

Buying high selling low

The port trade was an A+
The reported stuv, hill and acres trades are a D-
Just on Blake, there is no way Blake would be happy to be being low balled on wages and career, he'll see himself as best 22 and he's being told not only that he's going to be a VFL footballer but a long term future is unlikely, he's going to Freo being told a very different story.

On DMac and his contract, chances are he's been told much the same thing, he's not best 22, he's not going to be a high earner, he's not a star and he'll have to take his chance on injuries to be playing AFL and he's accepted it. Blake wants to be more than that and that's ok too.

No Bruce worries me if injuries become a problem. Max needs time to develop too. I still say if we can get Jones done and hold onto Bruce, that's the smart thing to do.
Battle can play forward. Or Carlisle if we are down at the start of the last quarter ;)

And we will need to turn either Joyce, Marsh, Claverino or Logan Austin into a forward since all 4 cant play at sandy in the one position.

Joyce played a few games at the end of the season at FF and didn't look horrible. Not ideal but worth a try. He keeps improving every time he plays so there is something to work with.

And we just pray we dont experience the same injuries next season,
