Living with his family might have a lot to do with that and being around his real mates not footy mates.
It’s bloody Lorne not WA, what’s next a kid from the outer north needs to leave because it’s takes an hour to get to Moorabbin.

I’ve read posts on here advocating for 18 year olds to have their initial contracts extended to 3-5 years and how they need to harden up or find something else to do if the don’t like the Gold Coast etc. Maybe if an hours drive and being back in Lorne is that important to jacks mental health he should consider retiring.

I can’t believe that Geelong have continued to pursue a contracted player over what period? Did their interest help plant the idea in jacks mind. I’m sorry for jack but absolutely ropable as a supporter, I feel like Geelong have been part of the problem and now they’ll benefit from it.

Someone remind me didn’t GAJ have some problems that only breaking a contract and moving to Geelong could solve?.

Geelong will look on this with interest.

Saying Jack has a mental illness will materially impact what we get as a trade.

If he is that unwell, it is a huge risk for Geelong. He may get worse and not play at all.

Why should Geelong pay out big for a player past his best with mental illness issues?

Don't want to sound harsh, but we say its a business, surely this is a factor for Geelong

We would hope that Geelong don't play the mental health card, to reduce the price for a gun player they get.
a) If Jack won't be able to play for them he should retire, he has a better nest egg at 30 than i will have at 60.

b) If Jack says he can play, he should be committed to that, they need to pay the going rate.

Like i said , If it went to arbitration, the AFL would not be discriminating.

I remember. I also remember that it's still pure speculation. The intell I have on Jack is that he loves the club and the boys and doesn't want out. Until I hear or we hear otherwise it means nothing that Purple is reporting it.

I also remember the million other guesses you have had that were completely false. Jaeger Omeara comes to mind.

That I said we wanted O’Meara? So false. Which other things did I get wrong young fella? Or are you just throwing shit and hoping that some sticks?

It's like you looked deep into my soul....and reached inside.... to extract the core of everything I believe.

Our shopping list should consist of the following:
1. Ball pigs
2. More ball pigs
3. You guessed it, ball pigs.
4. Sort out the backup ruck situation.

Noone else gets an interview for the position of Stkilda footballer in 2019 until we have attained the aforementioned swine.

I hope to hell Bytel turns out to be a Ballpig.

And that's all I'm saying.

There's a human being involved in this. We're not selling cattle here.

It's a delicate situation for all parties involved.
I have nothing but goodwill towards jack and I hope and pray he finds what he’s looking for on a personal level.

My problem is with Geelong and a creeping feeling that we’re getting played.

You can’t play footy and train and drive 4 hours a day. I’ve already said he can stand out of footy and won’t effect him but not trading him will effect us.

We've lost a number 1 draft pick for nothing and the world still turns and we are still in ok shape.

Missing out on a geelong 2nd rounder would hardly be a tragedy.

I would argue we would get that value back and more in future negotiations with other clubs recognising we wont bend over.

I think you are confusing why he may yes may want to go home. I’d say it’s because of his sickness. He has never had a problem for 10 years living in Melbourne. It never once worried him. Now that he isn’t right maybe he just needs to be around family and friends. Maybe he will stay. All I know is if he wants to leave the trade will be done no matter what some think of it because the club get to see the effect things are having on a person. We don’t.

Spot on, JB. So much hinges on how Stuv finishes off the year. Geelong has obviously monitored his progress closely. What if he has another relapse?

I hope for all concerned he finishes strongly. I hate the thought of losing quality players, but it is becoming more apparent that his best option would be to be close to the support of his friends, family, partner and child. Geelong has the resources to look after him properly.

I fear plugs is right. I think it's adios to Stuv. I just hope all sides do the right thing and facilitate an equitable and smooth transition. Gee we've had shyte luck of late. The tradition continues!

Time for some transparency within reason then because it’s looking like Geelong have cut our lunch to me and they have form.

Agree if he is that unwell Id be surprised if he is making great decsions, but the one thing he does need is a supportive family around him. There is a risk for all clubs involved but if he wants to get to Geelong make it happen and trust Geelong are reasonable at the trade table.

It just won’t happen because we lose more in the media refusing to trade a player with mental issues. No way that will be allowed to happen. And I think stuffing up pick one has proven to hurt. If you want to continue to hurt then let’s have jack sitting in lorne earning 800k whilst we lose a potential good or bad player

Transperency? What do you want. A medical certificate. I don’t jack is missing games so he gets to play at Geelong. Pretty disrespectful if you are thinking that

A million bucks a year buys you a pretty good chaeuffered car.
Geez get a stretch limo so he can stretch his legs out
There are so many options, give him a program and let him work out at Lorne fc, come to Melbourne for the main session stays and plays then off home etc.

It never hurt plugger and the boys when they were based in Ballarat in fact we lost players when some idiot decided every player had to be based in Melbourne.

That’s as bad as thinking you can travel 4 hours a day. They don’t train everyday just because

Couldn't agree more.

If he's as bad as it seems, I feel for the bloke.

I honestly think that people who haven't lived through it can truly understand.

That said, it won't surprise me if he retires. If he thinks moving closer to family will totally cure him, he could be in for a shock.

Anyway it's all speculation from a media grub and sadly all this arguing is exactly the reaction he wants.

Hopefully my post wasn't misconstrued about Geelong and Steven.

Geelong seem to trade fairly and I doubt they would use his mental condition as a bargaining tool, all I meant was and as P66 pointed out it is obvious, that Geelong would take it into account at the trade table.
Not sure a prick of a club like Essendon who employs Dodoro, wouldn't use it as a tool though.

You honestly don’t believe you could do that. Surely.

Just 1 of a rainbow of possibilities.

There is far more than just 1 solution.

Just because letting the club pay for it in the form of a crap trade is the easiest option... doesn't mean it's the only option.

The club has a duty of care to jack- they fulfill that in a whole number of ways that don't involve the club taking a crap deal while simultaneously strengthening a direct rival enormously.

Geelong offered us a very good deal end of last year when jack said he would entertain a return back home.

We refused to do the deal. Now its come back around, he basically hasn't played for a year, the offer of course would be less.

Sometimes its better to do the deal if a player really wants out. They end up getting what they want end of the day anyway.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting we take a crap deal but we aren’t getting anything like we would have got last year. I think if we get geelongs first we have done well. We aren’t going to get a good young player as well.
