For every example you give to prove i'm wrong there are dozens proving otherwise.

Grundy is over 200cm and has cemented his place in the side for the last 3 seasons at least, he doesn't need to bust a hump lol.

Every person has a ceiling when it comes to endurance, same as everything in life.
And what makes you think that McInness, coming off a back injury, has reached his?

Back injury and he ran the best 20mtr? Ok, just pisses me off when people say "we can fix his tank", cracks me up in fact, if you don't have it you don't have it, endurance like speed can be improved, but if you come last in a 2k whilst trying to prove yourself i aren't holding out much hope for that player.

You don't aquire an AFL tank, you were born with it, match a bid in the second round IMO.

I understand he’ll never be elite, but how much will he be able to improve his endurance. Is 40-50% likely?

That’s way more than needed. A 10% improvement would bring his 2k time down to 6.45, which is well within AFL standards. A 15% improvement would bring his time down to the low 6m mark which is Sidey/Phillips territory. 7.10 is slow by AFL standards for a 2k run, but that time can be brought down to acceptable levels with proper training. Iirc, Reef hasn’t done a preseason for 2 years and has had to rest his back for the bulk of this year. There’s absolutely no reason that he can’t significantly improve his tank given those circumstances.

Looks like we now have enough later picks to cover a bid for Reef from pick 11 onwards without touching picks 14 & 16. That’s factoring in that JUH, Jones & Campbell are all taken before him. Ideal scenario is that it’d come after our pick 16 so our first two picks are not factored in for points

Not a single mention of Gold Coast in Will Phillips' most recent AFL article Pie 4 Life.

GWS, Essendon, Adelaide and Hawthorn have shown the most interest by the sounds.

I don't know about you but GCS and Phillips seems like a good fit. But perhaps they'll look to sure up their KPD line? Like a DGB if he's available, to supersede (albeit eventually, if not straight away) the likes of Collins.

Reid has now been linked to GC the last few days.

GCS have exciting youngsters on all lines. I think they'll just go with whoever they think is best available. Although there would be something pretty cool about them drafting Phillips and keeping an Under 18 midfield together into the AFL.

That just means we haven't shifted any senior listed players back to the rookie list this year Dave.

We will still have Keane and Noble on the rookie list but we may not take any additional rookies in the rookie draft as we already have to take six players now in the National Draft.
We should have a good crop of young kids vying for positions next year, there should be a sense of real opportunity.

Wow, he’s a bit of a bolter really. I can understand why they’re interested though, having two key defenders who can kick the ball like Lukosious and Reid will be gold for them.

Yeah. Ballard has been having to play that lockdown role, when he is more of a third tall, because they have been forced to with Thompson's injury. Having another developing key defender certainly would suit nicely.

If he could improve his 2km time by 40-50% he'd be at the Olympics!!

Just an FYI because you were both spot on in a certain respect, but it depends on the metric.

For instance if the metric is overall percentile a 40-50% improvement is absolutely possible. On the basis of his combine testing he’s probably in the bottom 5% of players entering the system so if he can rise into the top 50% he’ll be fine, IMO.

Personally I’m more interested in his repeat sprints and the number of contests he gets to. I believe he played some footy mid year and put up big numbers? If that was all Treloar one two type stuff I’d be sus, but if it was more Cripps like win a contest, win the next, then the next etc. he’ll be fine.

I didn’t think there had been any footy in Vic this year outside of the draft camp/session at Sorrento and the recent final training session?

Nope you’re spot on it was the girls! What threw me off was Tassie because I didn’t realise they’d been included in both the boys and girls. Perhaps it was 2019 with the likes of Rowell, Phillips and Anderson on metro duties.

I believe there was a couple nab league pre-season games before the season was cancelled. Nick Daicos and Reef played together against tassie where they kicked 10 goals between them.

Phillips won't be there at Gold Coast's pick.
