He's been there 10 years so he's unrestricted which means he can go anywhere and West Coast can't match to force a trade.Umm...is it just ne or does this sound like what was called draft tamering a few years ago
ANDREW GAFF
Status: Unrestricted free agent
As reported by Jay Clark in the Herald Sun last year, a clause in Gaff’s long-term deal allows him to exercise his rights at the end of 2020 and walk to a club of his choice.
I don't necessarily think he's lazy, but he is very laconicThere’s no doubt the bloke has talent in spades.. when he uses it and doesn’t try and do to much (like when he gets caught with the ball trying to evade 1 too many tacklers)
his main problem is that he is just bloody lazy.. and you’re right.. that’s something Clarkson would find a way to drum out of him..
doubt they would throw anymore than $400k a year at him though.. what‘s he really worth?
yeah .. they willSeeing the year we're having, no one is going to begrudge us getting a good pick when our best player leaves us as well.
This might help you too...Thanks for that; interesting to note.
I was more wondering if this year’s draft pool is weak on elite talent, but briztoon made a good point.
Sad news for the boy. I'd run the risk with the GWS first if it pushes to about 20Kaine Baldwin has done his ACL again and is out for the year
Also means with two ACL injuries will probably slip out of the first round
I don't reckon we will need a pick that high. Look where Brodie Kemp went last year.Sad news for the boy. I'd run the risk with the GWS first if it pushes to about 20
Kind of ... the "net" aspect relates to FAs leaving and coming into a club. If Brad leaves and we bring in a FA, we get no compo - it's net zero. When there are more FAs leaving than joining, compo determination is as described in the newspaper articles linked. My understanding is the compensation picks are based on the total net points of free agents lost in any given year.
I would assume that if Crouch and Atkins were to leave and we didn’t pick up a FA, we would almost certainly get a band 1?
Have to say given the club circumstances I'd be surprised if we'd use a pick in the 1st or even the 2nd round on a player that's had 2 knee recos already and the uncertainty around that plus the fact he won't play any footy next year. I won't be overly surprised if he goes undrafted this year especially if lists are reduced, there's always next year when clubs will have a better handle on his recovery etc.Sad news for the boy. I thought it was a partial tear and around a 6 month rehab after surgery. Probably need to wait and see if he nominates for this draft or waits a year firstHave to say given the club circumstances I'd be surprised if we'd use a pick in the 1st or even the 2nd round on a player that's had 2 knee recos already and the uncertainty around that plus the fact he won't play any footy next year. Mitch O'Neill last year was tipped to go 1st/2nd round but clubs wouldn't touch him with a 40ft barge pole at the National Draft because of the doubts with his recurring ankle issues and a MCL injury, ultimately the Eagles threw him a lifeline at #25 in the Rookie Draft. IMO he had similar potential to Dylan Stephens with a very similar game style. Bearing in mind Mitch O'Neill was an All Australian in both 2018 and 2019.I thought it was a partial tear and around a 6 month rehab after surgery. Agree in the position we're in you'd be reluctant to use either a first or a second on him though this year
Have you not read social media for the last 2 years? We don't have too many fans out there atm. I think a lot of people would be happy to see us get screwed over again by the AFLSeeing the year we're having, no one is going to begrudge us getting a good pick when our best player leaves us as well.
Agreed, Gibbs is an 'icing on the cake' type pickup you take when you are right in your premiership window. Brad is a great pickup for a younger side that is year or 2 away from contending. Thinking someone like North or Saints would be a great fit.Gibbs was a lot older than brad.. brad is 26... gibbs was 4 years older when he came to us..
And brad shows a hell of a lot more than what gibbs ever did..
We completely f’ed that whole trade up. What a sliding doors moment..
I believe it’s weak in genuine top end talent, as in Matthew Rowell or Connor Rozee level talent. There is none. Thanks for that; interesting to note.

If he got to say pick 40 and was still there, do you throw a future 3rd at a club and take a punt? Seems like a small price to pay for someone with huge potential.Mitch O'Neill last year was tipped to go 1st/2nd round but clubs wouldn't touch him with a 40ft barge pole at the National Draft because of the doubts with his recurring ankle issues and a MCL injury, ultimately the Eagles threw him a lifeline at #25 in the Rookie Draft. Edited : Eagles not the Roos.

I’d argue the king twins are as talented as Connor Rozee. Particularly Max. In his draft year he was getting talked about as the #1 pick and a generational forward in the same breath as Rowell was getting spoken about as a midfielder. He has that type of talent.I believe it’s we in genuine top in talent, as in Matthew Rowell or Connor Rozee level talent. There is none.
Ugle-Hagan is potentially on the same level as the King twins.
I do believe there’s good depth in that next tier of talent.
If you have a top 10 pick, you should be able draft a good kid.
Similarly, there’s some genuine potential or good solid players in the next 10 or so kids.
I guess the question is do you want to draft quality or quantity, and do you factor in where Edwards probably plays at senior level in to your draft strategy.
Yeah, I’m not disagreeing at all with that.I’d argue the king twins are as talented as Connor Rozee. Particularly Max. Boner did two ACL’s.. and GWS took him at pick 11 if I recall..I don't reckon we will need a pick that high. Look where Brodie Kemp went last year.
Clubs are wary and he's now done 2
It is much more than Tigers supporters now. Ever since the grand final we have been smashed in the media with stories about the camp, players leaving, the external review and now our poor performance on the field.Who? Dickhead Richmond fans living in a council flat?
The AFL needs a strong West Coast, a strong Sydney and a strong Adelaide. They don't want us to win, but they absolutely don't want us to be a basket case.
I think the people who hate us will enjoy the wooden spoon and best player gone jokes. It is much more than Tigers supporters now. Ever since the grand final we have been smashed in the media with stories about the camp, players leaving, the external review and now our poor performance on the field.
I agree the AFL needs us to be strong, doesn't mean that many people won't be happy to see us get screwed over
