I think we can put to bed any notion of pick 2 compo for Crouch.
He's nowhere near worth that.
It would be end of first round so after all the academy picks something in the 20s.
We need insurance in case McAsey (and Worrell) get the go home blues.I don't think tall forwards are as much of a problem. We've got two pieces who have had a promising start to their career in Fogarty and McAsey. Could probably go for Thillhorpe as a third but we may have already invested a lot of collateral there.
This year the question is midfield and small forwards.

Would like to see Fog build his tank and unleash him in the midfield
He has but he’s only youngHasn't he had two knee recos?
He might be obtainable in the rookie draft. If so, don't lose much.
Yeah, if they can be swayed by $$$ to stay, all good and he might be our needed star KPD going forward while Fog and Tilly are our KPFs.If we're proactive - we keep them.
If we're reactive we'll get forced into a situation where we are either staring down an 800k per year contract or a trade.
I would be very comfortable if Adelaide offered 500k/5yr deal to McAsey tomorrow.

Stenglien did for home reasonsI reckon only Dangerfield was the only player to leave for a genuine wish to go home.
The trick is to be proactive and with us continously shedding cap space, there is no reason not to be.
I wonder if it would work if we could a payment structure where we have a few mega contracts for players that are elite and must keep, several "floating bonus" prize amounts to be won by the best performed of the remaining players who are on a more typical payment sliding scale.I reckon only Dangerfield was the only player to leave for a genuine wish to go home.

Isnt that the Richmond model?I wonder if it would work if we could a payment structure where we have a few mega contracts for players that are elite and must keep, several "floating bonus" prize amounts to be won by the best performed of the remaining players who are on a more typical payment sliding scale.
Hollands has size which we lackI am another that has concerns over Holland - unfortunately I dont think we will get any sense of where he is due to no football in Vic
I would prefer to target Phillips as our mid
Don't know.Isnt that the Richmond model?
David Mackay - Base Rate $250k - with incentives for any games with possession count over 20. Money in the bank for the Crows
Rory Laird - Base rate $300k - with dollars floating in balloons 10m off the ground if he hits them
In that case keep him and trade Matt
They've got no reason to grow the game in SA.Then you match the deal and force a trade. Even if it gets us a 2021 first.
Mind you if we do start making noise about a priority pick, or keep looking so far off the pace, the AFL may adjust their magic beans formula to give us pick 3.
They do have one goal in mind - no one is uncompetitive and we're as uncompetitive as it gets.
They've got no reason to grow the game in SA.
They won't do us any favours.
I think that applies more to Vic teams and expansion projects. They do however have a lot of reasons to make sure the game is competitive (arguably in the billions with TV rights deals). Any team being uncompetitive as we are being at the moment is panic stations for the AFL, no matter the financial stability and location.
Especially is said uncompetitive team was about to lose their best midfielder...

They won't be too fussed at us embarrassing ourselves for a few years.
Crows fans will still buy memberships.
If the comment's specific to Hollands' knee we would have to go on our medical team's assessment of the original injury and his recovery progress at the time of the draft because there is no way he would have played any football given the timeline and highly unlikely he'd be ready for any physical testing at the Draft Combine even if it goes ahead?I am another that has concerns over Holland - unfortunately I dont think we will get any sense of where he is due to no football in Vic

TV numbers for SA teams are largely irrelevantWhat pushed the Adelaide Oval deal is that wasn't happening. We were struggling and numbers were beginning to dip in the 30k range (on top of Port being near broke). Like all fan bases, we won't maintain membership numbers.
TV rights is all the AFL care about and any team which impacts that bottom dollar is a problem for them. If we remain uncompetitive, we potentially do cause that number to drop.
Yes its about his knee.If the comment's specific to Hollands' knee we would have to go on our medical team's assessment of the original injury and his recovery progress at the time of the draft because there is no way he would have played any football given the timeline and highly unlikely he'd be ready for any physical testing at the Draft Combine even if it goes ahead?
