This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

If Hogan to GWS did happen would it be worth asking about Zach Sproule as part of the deal? From NSW and came through the Giants juniors so may not consider WA but not likely to be playing regularly at GWS any time soon so who knows.

Mainly thinking if we're likely to get a bad trade anyway at least a key forward with a few years development might be worth a chance if it's a cheap option and allows Freo to spend on quality elsewhere.

He managed to play an extra game than Hogan this season and since he hasn't kicked any goals at all in his career yet I have to use points, 33 points less than Hogan did this year.

If we want a big bodied midfielder who can't kick, Banfield is right there.
This board wanted the hell out of Brander when he was a key forward in the draft. Now he's potentially looking for a team to play him as a key forward. Is he no good now that he hasn't broken into the eagle's forward line in front of JK, Darling or Allen?

I'd look at Brander, but obvious caveat is that WC and Freo rarely trade players with each-other.

Personally I think Brander would be a good get, he's a natural key forward but WCE have Kennedy, Darling, Allen, Waterman etc. hence trialing him on the wing. I would naturally prefer to keep Hogan, but if he goes I reckon Brander would be a good pick up. He's barely played as a forward at AFL level so his 0 career goals isn't a concern. However as many have said it's hard to see the Eagles trading with us, the only way I see it happening is if Brander requests a trade to us specifically which is highly unlikely.

There’s a decent segment on trade radio each afternoon where matty rendell and SOS “disect” a different teams list each day. They did North on Tuesday and the Hawks today.
As freo are literally the most irrelevant club to victorian AFL people, trade radio and the trade period will be well and truly over by the time they get around to the dockers.

Listening to the Duff and Quarters pod and I’m still at a loss on how were on the edge of our salary cap. What are we
paying Brayshaw and Cerra? 800k already?

Something the “ draft best available we shouldn’t prioritise WA kids “ crew never seem to factor into their equations, we aren’t much different to GC and GWS if you look at our list from a homegrown talent perspective and we have to overpay like them as well

Still only 1 WA lad ( Louge ) under 23 taken in the main draft on the list if I’m not mistaken besides a couple of NGA’s

We took Liam Henry at pick 9 to be fair. But your point is correct. theres now way in hell Cerra and Brayshaw are on $800k. I doubt a third year player in AFL history has ever been paid that much it’s insane.
If for some crazy reason they are, then Young, Serong and Henry will all be on $800k in 2022 as well, once they hit their third year. Why on earth would they take a penny less than their counterparts?

They could be front ending a lot of contracts while we've got a young list, so that in a few seasons all of a sudden you have a warchest as the contracts reach their thin end.

NGA.
He is correct. Every WA player on out list under 23 is from the RD or a NGA.

The youngest local main draftee on the list is Connor at 24 and half.
2014 Blakely
2015 Shane Yarran
2016 Logue
2017/18 Only rookies (Watson, O’Reilly etc) and NGA cat-B
2019 Henry NGA & Rookie Pina

A war chest and 8 trade requests

All the bigger a warchest .

I guess they'd be figuring the longer they stay the more they're invested (as a proportional thing). And or stay on top of relationship management with them.

Research and accuracy?

You're doing it wrong.

Isaac smith nominates Geelong.
Cameron, smith and Higgins?
Surely someone has to fall out the other end like Clark?

Geez they must have a bottomless cap

Griffin Logue?
Yes as per the original post I was calling correct, the only current main list player (drafted in the main draft) is Logue.

Although unlike the OP I don't see it as a big issue.

31 probably close to 32 when next season starts.

Hawks don’t mind parting ways with their superstars when they’ve still got a bit more to offer. Hasn’t really worked so far in regards to sustained success. Geelong have kept there’s & been there about for a decade+.

Geez I’d hate to see Pav, Walters & Fyfe finish up at other clubs like Mitchell, Hodge, Birchall & now Smith have done.
