This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

Apparently he had a good game in the Geelong practice match tonight. From the Geelong Trade thread;

Still can't find any info on him being delisted. Maybe theGav65 has some secret sauce.
Narkle will not be delisted , he will most likely get offered a contract at the appropriate time... so a trade will be required.

Dont think you'd get anything in a trade for him tbh, like, it would be a 4th round upgrade or something. Uncontracted, and never more than 6 games in a year right?

Like all players that are fringe...and exasperated this year. He has more value to us than that ..but it will depend on him
I'm sure he does but your not THAT keen on him or he'd have a contract in front of him already. Fringe players taken late in the draft arent going to return much. Absolute best case would be like a future 3rd I'd think, probably sending a 4th back this year.

No one is coughing up a third in any form. Range is 4th round to scrapheap.

One will not get much for any fringe player ..if you are not best 22 then your value just fades away, this year especially ... and I suspect we are very aware that every club will have to make some tough choices ... that may involve letting young players go for not much or trading contracted players. List sizes and Salcap changes it a bit this year. Im not sure how many we have to loose ..maybe 6 or 7 ... and that means a few kids before they have even had a chance. Narkle with no contract probably goes..... but Henderson was going last year till we lost abbott... so things change.

Lets say that player we have been discussing gets traded... to me then it make sense to then try and keep Narkle ..as he is worth more to us than he would be as a trade. 23 next year ..he is probably just to the stage where his body is reliable. Some question his work rate but the club would n=know that better than i with their gps data. Of course he may have decided to look at other clubs for more game time.. it happens.

Not sure he gets that much more game time at Freo tbh.

The club will want to pump games into Sturt and Henry, maybe Frederick too. Walters probably plays more forward.

Given the need for defensive pressure (only further needed by the likelihood of three talls), you can almost guarantee that the Schultz, Switta, Crowden, Colyer types will take up those final one or two spots in the side.

So who, in the trade realm, would fill a need at Freo?

Sounds like we have a well balanced list for now, and we would be wise just to bank some more future prospects via the draft?

Are our top NGA prospects Western and B Walker a given. As in, has Freo given them any kind of reassurance, ala Henry, that we will be drafting them?

We need some more outside run, like another Langdon type except one that has good disposal skills as Bewley is still doubtful he will be good enough on the wing. Also another aggressive forward would be nice, someone like Cam Zurhaar.

Collingwoods fire sale continues!

There's a possibility the new contract for Mihochek is pushing WHE out.

Wonder if Jlo is keen to bring Hoskin Elliot?

Yeah I really like Zurhaar, real attacking nous. Would be a bit similar to our current nuggety small fwds tho.

We also need an early days Stephen Hill clone if available. Any suggestions, Chris25?

yeah not exactly keen on WHE, never really found consistency and his best is rarely that great. from what I’ve seen, kinda similar to Crozier with us as a fwd, will have 1 good quarter and then go missing for the rest

I still expect rule 17.1e to apply to a third year rookie player as it does to second year rookie players.

That being if a contract is offered but not accepted then the player is a free agent.
The wording is very explicit - it’s only if they don’t accept an offer to be retained as a third year rookie that they become a free agent. That doesn’t appear to be the Mihocke scenario - Collingwood are offering him a multi year deal and therefore a main list spot.

Please God no!

Sensible decision by Collingwood, their forward line would possibly be the worst in the comp without Mihocek, whereas WHE is useless
WHE is not useless, if he's on a wing he's great, however Bucks for some reason thinks he's a small forward/HFF. Has elite endurance with speed and has his best games on the wing.
In a lot of ways very much like Brad Hill but cheaper.

Because neither of them are forwards.

Ryan Daniels reported earlier in the week than Narkle had been told he wouldn't be offered a contract for next season.

He will be delisted a couple of days after Geelong finishes their season.
