Different roles , Mcasey won’t be able to play on slippery mediums
Our like-for-exact-carbon-copy-like-with-no-wriggle-room policy is another remnant of the old regime. Will be interesting to see if Nicks subscribes to it too

Doedee back too balances our defence nicely.

That's a good question what was the worst trade ever by the crows

Modra
Danger
Johnson
Rehn
Mattner

Not sure a 28 year old player that has played 20 games competes with those mentioned, in fact Henderson may have been a greater loss hes doing pretty well at the hawks
Henderson was never going to get games ahead of D Mackay at the crows so was never going to be a loss unfortunately

Yep doesnt always need to be like for like. Although there would be a need for shuffling the deck chairs which is why players need versatility to plan a variety of roles.

Yep but Mcasey is a real pure key defender with speed/ agility mix not dissimilar to Talia

thankfully he’s got some weapons that Talia doesn’t have

Umm not necessarily as Talia is very good at what he does as a shutdown tall defender

but he’d be in the mix to be at least as decorated as Talia by end of career

Then he will be an enormous win, I unfortunately will wait see, expectation is handed out too easily as is evident with how many draftees fail, what percentage of all draftees make 200 AFL games do you think? Then the hail mary 300 games, Melbourne have 1 player in the 100 plus history of the club to get to 300 games

I’m expecting a bit having watched him play and I’m sure the club expects him to be a fair player given we took him at pick 6 and don’t have those high picks very often

Yep, I was posturing back then. Like anytime someone has said "send them to the PSad" and then realised that's just stupid.

We all get very excited during trade discussions. Then the reality sinks in.

If you look back at my posts, you can see multiple times in threads when I've said Keath isn't good one-on-one. That hasn't changed, nor has the fact he was playing Doedee's position, nor has the fact he's 28 coming off a stress fracture and multiple injuries over many years, or the fact WB offered him the $$$ he wanted and seemingly no one else did.

I always thought we were better off trading him. I wanted more as any supporter would and was frustrated, but a 2nd round seems like what the market has set

Oh, and I have Elite Crow blocked for a good reason - he will turn everything into club incompetence, because he's a toxic personality. I don't want to see anything he posts.
You were “posturing”, can you please put a note when you are “posturing” in future as all we see is an apologist changing his tune to support the club.

Then what weight would be Ideal for a 197cm kid, say 96kg like Frampton, or 93kg like Keath, or the upper limits of 98kg like Talia,
Did you know Lever's only 92kg,

Like I said he only needs put on 4-6 kg this preseason and he around the mark .

4 to 6 kilo of muscle???????????

You obviously don't train, to put on that sort of muscle over pre season, one way to do it and one way only

Tell your kids dont take drugs unless they get you big

No I don't train these days but I use too, and when at the top of my game I was in the top 5% in my Field.
Here a hint do not bring a person Kids into any argument.

But It can be done and over the years the AFL is full of 4-6kg gain over a preseason more so in the early years when the dietitians get hold of the kids along with the Fitness staff.
Remember the Shaw days as one example.

If anyone can put on 4 to 6 kilo of muscle even at that age Jay Cutler would be proud and in trouble

I prefer McAsey and Talia as our KPDs, Doedee as the Kelly role on the mid sized forwards, Brown on the small forward and Laird, Sholl/Milera as the drive of HB.

Of course if there are 3 talls (e.g. ???) then Hartigan can get a game or Doedee plays on one of them

No he did not he rarely played a full game as a key defensive defender and when he did he was beaten. most games there was Talia and Hartigan in the side with him.
As for AA maybe he gets the Rance role.

You've completely contradicted yourself there.
If he is getting AA for Rance's role, that is the keyest of defensive defenders (whatever that means)
