Not interested in a refund. I'm quite happy to let my membership remain in place to support the club.
Even if it means watching matches on tv with empty stands.

Hey, Gold Coast and GWS have proven that it can be done!
Same

Yeah me too. I don't get anywhere near full value for the money I spend but that's ok.

Having said that, i have no issue with people who want to explore refunds etc. Everyone's financial status, beliefs, thoughts on the topic etc are different.

Yep. Each to their own. It's an emotional time for everyone and many companies feeling strain from COVID-19

An absolute shame that the timing is now when the Saints have done everything right to crack the 50k for the first time.

More stressful for me through my dickheadness. My wife is studying and told me not to spend money unnecessarily. We went to country and argued about driving the family car on dirt roads being bad for tires. I cracked the shits and bought a Subaru for myself without telling her. There goes my emergency fund to prop my business up in bad times.....just as bad times hits. Didn't even show she was pissed off and I had to act all like I wasn't being petty and that I thought I'd told her. I'm already bored of the car too.

I can always go on the dole and get $750 bucks to spend on eBay toilet paper. Or the Subaru has a big loadspace to sleep in.

Trade it in on a Camaro

Deserves the punishment....bought a Subaru

😎😆

It was me in a car, I like the country but don't like getting dirty. It's like a Birkenstock on wheels. People laugh at you but you pretend you don't really care because it makes you feel superior in a practical way. I'm too urban for a Hi lux or some tough guy car and hippies don't spit on me for the excessive fuel consumption of real 4WDs. It actually drives pretty good.

Read the Corps Law. It doesn't make it legal ans if they go down that route, They will be two memberships down next year.

I pay enough as an MCC member. I find it amazing you think it is fine to take money, not deliver the product and not refund the money taken for it.
Let the AFL take the hit.
I don't know if that breaches the corps act, but our marketing team has been in breach of the misleading and deceptive conduct provisions of the Trade Practices Act for about seven years.

Just because its in the club's T&C's doesn't make it valid and enforceable. For example, the Australian Consumer Law precludes harsh or unfair contract terms, I expect the Club and AFL has sought legal advice in this respect and will be hearing from those bodies shortly. Im sure there's a myriad of other legal arguments as well.

For those that see it as a donation to the Club, hats off to you.

Again, just for those going down this path, often the authority given to a merchant is not 'cancelled' if you simply stop your card. Some merchants can force payments through. Not saying it's what is going to happen but you are not always immediately protected by doing this, just fyi.

Probably better off going through the club directly (and respectfully), or even just being patient and see what comes out because no doubt the clubs and AFL are working through all of this as we speak.

The number of monster trucks milling around supermarket carparks is just ridiculous.
The media is onto it as well, couple of years back "Wheels" gave "City Car" of the year to the Mazda CX3. a mini SUV based on the Mazda 2, but jacked up, 4WD, heavier, slower, less space. Why was it a better city car?
Subaru's are pretty good IMO, and they handle nicely on a wet road.

I wonder who pays.
Say the government order a Robbie Williams concert to be cancelled.
Does the government pay? The Insurance Company ( which effects the price of future events ) ? The Vendor?
If its insurance the AFL would surely wait for the government to order it, so they don't end up in a shit fight with the insurance company.
The government need to get off their arse and start telling people what the go is.

For example.
A month ago it would have been easy and cheap to cancel the GP.
Now not so much.

Same with the above mentioned concert.
Might have been easier if they had cancelled it before everyone was here ready to go.

No doubt.

It is a membership body that relies on members to pay up each year.

Act like corporate arseholes and membership will plummet.

Really many members do it hard financially and scrape to get the money for memberships.
Its a bad situation, but the AFL has got cash to sink into their ego projects, they can take the hit.
Players contracts would be of more interest. Are they paid if they dont play,?

Would have to know terms of contract to know how much players will be paid.

If anything is done in regards to refund of memberships it will be a decision made by the AFL, not by people calling to demand the terms of signed contracts are altered.

Plenty of things the AFL will consider in their decision including future financial impact of the game and broadcast revenue missed by postponing or cancelling the season. Plenty to consider.

Sorry George, the AFL are not lawmakers, and I signed with the STKFC as a member not the AFL.

The AFL cant decide shit if the T&C's constitute a breach of relevant consumer statute legislation.

It won't get to that though. My travel company just amended terms where any money already paid can be carried over to other trips for 18 months.

The AFL clubs will look after their supporters in a similar manner somehow.
