So, this is also sending a message to GWS, but I'm not sure which one.
Removing 33 so that we have to offer 23 to GWS for Hately seems bizarre, so it may be "take 40 or PSD". ;)
It better be the latter, otherwise this Forum will explode!!

Then again, it could be the Melbourne 2021 R2 pick we just picked up. I hope not, though.

Nice trade. Trading down and backwards to increase overall value is what we always do in the Binuk era.

In this case we push a pick back into a stronger draft and likely move it up a few places in doing so. Value!

I will lose my shit if we trade anything better than 40 for Hateley.

Umm, Oscar McDonald? We may as well have tried to keep Hartigan if we're trying to get OMac

I'm happy rolling with Talia/McAsey/Butts/Borlase next year
Agreed plus Doedee, Worrell

That 2021 2nd rounder we just got from Melbourne instantly becomes very attractive to GWS who will have 2020 draft picks running out of every orifice.

So wait a second, we traded 33 and 50 for a 2021 2nd and 4th?

I guess it makes sense if the Giants are looking to bring in current picks for Cameron and Caldwell. Trade the Dees 2nd, whilst still having the flexibility to deal our 2021 1st rounder if we wish to

Binuk to me is smoke and mirrors. I am not sure what he brings.

He's supposed to assist with a lot of futures trading (though, I also assume there would be some scouting and other data work attached to it), and as it stands, we have a very solid record in that facet.

was he involved in us getting Jones, McHenry and passing on Caldwell, Duursma or Butters.

So 33 and 50, in the end after nga/fs picks, will probably become 38 and 55..

And weve swapped them for Melbournes round 2 and round 4 picks next year..

If melbourne dont make the 8 again (their 2nd pick next year will be a pick under 28) that will be a big win especially given that next year is meant to be a stronger draft..

please do not start a “melbourne death riding” thread for this .. they dont work and jinx us most times.. the GWS one this year, whilst it was created, was largely ignored and that worked in our favour IMO..

Mate, that pick is likely going out for Hately...

Isn't there every chance those picks come in some?

Doggies, Swans and Port all seem to have picks before then that will be used up to match bids. Not sure of others but thought it is a fair chance to keep its number?

33 and 50 sounds like the sort of value we would be willing to give up for Hately (even though we shouldn't)

Wouldn't be surprised to see that Melbourne 2nd head over to GWS
Yep, that's my biggest fear, GWS are going to running over with 2020 picks by the end of trade week so a 2021 2nd rounder becomes instantly more attractive to them than a 2020 pick. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that turns out to be the express reason we obtained it in the first place.

This shows how good that pick swap was. An hour ago we didnt have Melbourne’s 2021 2nd, now we hate the idea of losing it.
