Subiaco young gun Neil Erasmus impressed in his WAFL colts return.

Subiaco young gun Neil Erasmus impressed in his WAFL colts return.

Max Chipper (Swan Districts)
The second-placed Swans, who are percentage behind top side East Perth with a 4-1 record, are reaping the benefits of Chipper’s switch of schools from Guildford Grammar in the PSA to La Salle College.

The 17-year-old was best-afield in his side’s hard-fought win over Subiaco at Steel Blue Oval, with 38 touches and eight marks.

It backed up his massive game against West Perth the previous round, when he had 34, seven marks, five tackles and three goals.

Coach John Armstrong felt the hard-working Chipper was making the most of an injury-free run after his 2020 season was hampered by a serious hand injury, playing just one colts game and a few at PSA level.

Only Perth intercept-marking defender Jack Avery (34) and East Fremantle midfielder Josh Browne (31.4) are averaging more disposals than Chipper (30) this season.

Jed Hagan (East Fremantle)
The Geraldton product is shaping up to be one of the State’s best draft prospects for next year.

Hagan played as a winger last year and across half-back to start this season but has since become more of an inside midfielder.

He was arguably East Fremantle’s best player in a narrow loss to Claremont, amassing 27 possessions, 10 tackles and nine marks in a well-rounded performance.

Bodie Kitchingman (Peel Thunder)

Was Peel’s best player by the length of the Flemington straight in a tough loss to West Perth in Mandurah.

Kitchingman is a smooth-moving midfielder with plenty of tricks and played a lone hand in the engine-room.

Took a spectacular one-handed grab in the final term to cap off a decent day at the office, finishing with a game-high 31 possessions, a dozen more than the next best on the ground.

Dylan Mulligan (Claremont)
The Claremont big man was excellent in the ruck against Sharks trio Kobe McMillan, Jacob Feist and first-round draft prospect Jack Williams.

The 195cm talent had an impact around the ground and is putting together a decent season of colts footy for the Tigers, regular punching above his weight and height.

Tyler Mouritz (West Perth)
Mouritz was an intercept-marking machine down back for the Falcons.

The 192cm defender reads the play so well and rarely made a mistake all match.

Jacob Plunkett (South Fremantle)
The 191cm forward was the premier goal-kicker of the round, booting 6.1 in South Fremantle’s win over a hapless Perth.

Plunkett did it all to cause plenty of headaches for the Demons’ defence minus gun Jack Avery, taking seven marks and applying great defensive pressure with seven tackles.

It was the South Coogee product’s fourth multiple haul in a row, taking his season tally to 14.

Neil Erasmus (Subiaco)
Subiaco benefited from Hale School’s PSA bye with the inclusion of Neil Erasmus and Richard Farmer.

Erasmus was particularly damaging against a star-studded Swan Districts midfield and nearly got his team over the line.

The AFL draft prospect finished with 27 disposals, seven tackles, seven marks and six inside 50s to continue his stellar year at colts and PSA levels.

Surprised he isn't getting more notice

Reminds me of another play I saw numbers like that for:

He was later rookied by Freo... not sure what the knock is on Browne but will find out

Haven't they said Darby is supposed to be better then bailey?

I read somewhere that Joel Trudgeon had a big game recently, remember seeing him listed as 90kg already, anyone seen him in action ?

Watched the game - big is an understatement. You need to keep in mind that it was against Brisbane who are one of the worst teams in the comp.

36 touches, 8 marks, 14 tackles, 8 clearances, 1 goal, 5 goal assists for 308 champion data/supercoach points.

Big bodied inside mid who tackles with real aggression. Pretty decent in a 1 on 1 contested in the air and ground. Not without some fairly obvious weaknesses though - his disposal off a mark and under no pressure is solid, but really tends to panic and rush a forward moving handball/kick under any sort of pressure.

He can be picked up in the MSD but there's no real talk around him. I'd suggest it's because there's a perceived lack of scope for development beginning with the fact that he doesn't come across as a great athlete.

For the record, he played a really good game in round 4 too - 29 touches, 5 marks and 3 goals
